This pretty 17th century stone house has been lovingly restored, retaining many of its original features, including oak beams, mellow stone walls, old fireplaces. Nestling on a hillside in a tiny hamlet, it enjoys outstanding views. Set in its own large garden, the house is very private. There are two bedrooms and one bathroom. Downstairs, there is a well furnished living room with TV/Video (BBC/ ITV by satellite), a sitting room and a well -equipped kitchen. It is just two miles from the village of St Severin, where you can find all necessary shops, including a baker, grocers, butchers, a small supermarket, a post office, a newsagent, a chemist, a doctor, a dentist, a veterinarian, as well as a tea- shop, three bars and a small family hotel with restaurant.

Nestling in a quiet hillside hamlet in the green Perigord of south west France( Aquitaine), the house is ideally situated to explore the many places of interest in this fascinating part of the country. Aubeterre, designated as one of the prettiest villages in France and its famous monolithic church, the river towns of Bourdeilles and Brantôme, fine old cities such as Périgueux, Angoulême, Cognac, with tiny ancient streets filled shops and cafés are all well worth a visit and within easy reach. And so are the grottos and prehistoric park of Les Eysies, the Bordeaux vineyards of St Emilion, Graves, Pomerol, all about one hour away from the house.There are many available activities close by; these include golf, tennis, horse riding, mountain biking, fishing, cycling, canoeing and river bathing at man made beaches. Bicycles and canoes can be hired locally.

HEAVEN IN DORDOGNE

We stayed on week July 25-Aug1st 2009 in this charming little house. True to the description the property is clean, well maintained and comfortable. We were met upon arrival by Françoise the charming owner who was very helpful and told us everything about the places to see (Aubeterre is really worth visiting), Brantome, les Eyzies as well as the nice restaurants and food stores around (very good "patisserie" and butcher's shop in Riberac). She made us feel immediately at home. One great asset Is also the heated swimming pool with its beautiful view over the hills and no vis-à-vis. We enjoyed the quietness of the place and spent a wonderful and restful week exactly as we wanted. Special thanks also to the charming neighbours who took us to visit the beautiful roman church of St Paul.
Everyhing was perfect. Just like a dream. We do recommend this property.

Charming Property which truly reflects the style of a period property. The villa was exactly as described and well maintained and clean. Nothing about our experience was less than perfect. The owner could have not been more helpful not even if she had tried and her local knowledge was truly appreciated.

Even though the property was nestled in a typical little French village, good supermarkets, excellent bakery, butchers etc were only a few minutes away. Just down the road we discovered truly fantastic restaurants were friendly atmosphere could be found complemented by superb food and of course wine.

I would not hesitate to recommend this property to friends and indeed I already have. We do look forward to returning next year.

We spent two weeks here this summer and had a wonderfully restful time. The village of St Paul Lizonne is quiet and friendly but within easy driving distance of some beautiful towns, including Bergerac, Perigueux, Bourdeilles and Brantôme. The cottage is charmingly decorated and furnished and has everything one would want. The swimming pool is a good size and surrounded by beautiful views. This, the internet connection and satellite TV meant my teenage daughter was more than happy! Francoise is a lovely lady and so very friendly and welcoming and nothing is too much trouble. Just looking at the photos on the web site makes me want to return!
