My wife and I lived in Colorado for several years and purchased the cabin for our own enjoyment. We have since moved back to the Midwest but love to visit with our expanding family.
Ben Wickum purchased this cabin in 2009
We love the proximity to hiking and biking trails and the town of Grand Lake offers many amenities we couldn't resist. The 4th of July fireworks are something to behold.
We have seen moose, elk, fox, and other wildlife while staying in the cabin. The 4th of July fireworks display in Grand Lake can be seen from our property and is especially fun with a fire going in the fire-pit.
The pictures make it seem like this is a cute little house on the mountain, but it is really more of a flipped cabin. Floors are uneven, we couldn't get hot water in the shower, no cable or wi-fi, and we could not turn the heat on because there were no instructions for us and there was a mouse living in one of the bedroom vents we didn't want to cook. There were no signs of an infestation, just one little mouse we saw. The futon was covered in dog or cat hair and the sheets on the king sized bed were not washed before we arrived. Guest is responsible for purchasing special garbage bags and bringing trash to town for disposal. All that said, we had a great time and would remt this property again. It took less then 2 minutes to get to downtown Grand Lake and maybe 5 to get to RMNP. The view from the cabin is amazing and we enjoyed having a fire pit and wood to burn was provided. We were surprised we could get a 3 bedroom house for the price, but after staying there, the price makes sense. If you are looking for a fancy house with all the upgrades, this is not the place for you, but if you are looking for an alternative to a hotel, you can't beat the price, location and size. The kitchen was well stocked and clean, no sign of mice at all. It reminded us of staying at a friend or family members cabin.
Our family of 5 stayed at this cabin for five days and four nights. We were very comfortable and had a wonderful time. The kitchen is a cook's dream! The views from the cabin are beautiful and it is close to Grand Lake and Rocky Mtn. National Park. Definitely would (and will!) recommend this property to family and friends.
We stayed at the cabin 5 nights and had a great time enjoying the underused West side of the park. The cabin was great, just as advertised, a short distance from town and mere minutes from the park. We really enjoyed the East Inlet trail, if you go to Adam's Fall's just keep walking down the trail, it will bring you to beautiful meadows, we got to see a momma moose and her baby moose, very cool! Also in walking around the town's Point Park we turned the corner to find a giant bull moose 30-40 ft from us, it was fantastic. I do recommend when in Grand Lake going to the local theater (RMTR) and seeing whatever play is on, we saw Le Mis, for $35 we got to see a very high quality production.
Awesome place, wish we could've stayed longer!
Our family of six were very happy with our stay here. It was the perfect size and layout. We loved the views and the location. We were glad we decided to stay in Grand Lake while visiting RMNP because it was much less populated than the Eastern side of the park. We would stay here again and have no reservations suggesting others do as well. It's as beautiful as the pictures!
We had a great stay. The view out of the front picture window looks out on the lake and mountains. The house was comfortable and had what we needed to have a nice, relaxing vacation.
Property is fully furnished and equipped with all you will need during your stay in one of the most beautiful places on earth. The whole front of the house is lined with large pane windows that look over shadow mountain lake- You will never forget the view!
The location is perfect - out of town, but just around the corner from the town of Grand Lake and the entrance to Rocky Mountain National Park.
The place was clean and well kept, but also very simple and cozy.
Our party had 4 kids and 4 adults, we fit the space well with room to spare.
Thanks a million! We Loved our stay!!
