ST. JOHNS
The Capital city is just a 10 minute drive from Jolly Harbour. There is always a taxi available. Or, you may ride the local bus ($1.50us). St. John's is a port side town with plenty of duty-free shopping, jewellery stores, clothing boutiques, gift shops, art galleries and restaurants.
ENGLISH HARBOUR
Developed as a base for the British Navy in the great age of sail, the harbour served as the headquarters of the fleet of the Leeward Islands during the turbulent years of the late 18th century. It is now the only Georgian dockyard in the world. This historical site is a wonderful place to spend the afternoon.
SHIRLEY HEIGHTS
The partially-restored fortifications of English Harbour's colonial observation post; the view from Shirley Heights extends out over the harbour and far across the Caribbean sea to Montserrat and Guadeloupe. On Sundays the vista is enhanced by barbecue and live music. (6pm Steel Band Music & Reggae).
