Casa Cerca del Rio is a classic Florida ranch style house located in a quiet neighborhood in Cape Coral, Florida- “America’s Venice”. Canals, carefully maintained homes and wide, traffic free streets ensure pleasant views and enjoyable walks. “House near the River” offers sailboat access to the Gulf of Mexico from the backyard dock. The property was recently landscaped and is professionally maintained.
The nearly 2,000 square foot home has four bedrooms and two bathrooms- plenty of room for up to 8 or 9 guests. The Master bedroom features a king size bed with pillow top mattress and a tiled bath. Two bedrooms offer queen size beds, are bright and airy. The fourth bedroom is equipped with a twin size bed as well as a desk and comfortable chair – a great place for someone looking to curl up with a book or take a nap. All bedding and towels are new and of high quality.
Casa Cerca del Rio has four flat screen televisions with cable service. A DVD player is available in the living room entertainment center. A Wii game console is also housed in the living room offering a special challenge to the young at heart. Wi-fi service is available throughout the house for guests.
The kitchen is well equipped with generous granite topped counters and a large center island. The appliances are stainless steel and adequately sized to accommodate a house full of hungry guests. A glass topped dining table seats six people. Four additional people can easily be seated at the nearby island.
The living room includes a pull out sofa for last minute guests. The original lanai area has been enclosed and finished offering extra room for activities such as table games and jig-saw puzzles.
The pool area is clearly visible through 6 large sliding glass doors, 3 of which are screened to allow cool breezes at the right time of the year. The oversized lanai has new furniture including comfortable chairs and a table for outside dining – an umbrella can be opened to provide shade.
The large pool is professionally maintained and can be heated if, by chance, the water seems a bit cool. A spill over spa adjoins the pool and provides a welcome spot to spend some time recovering from the strains of shopping or other activities.
A few steps down from the pool is a patio built into the seawall. The patio is large enough to provide seating and a pleasant place to watch for fish, dolphins and manatees that frequent the canal and inhabit the Caloosahatchee River Basin. Nearby beach attractions include: Fort Myers beach and the Barrier islands of Sanibel and Captiva. The Sanibel Lighthouse is a familiar landmark to those visiting the area, and nearby shores offer world famous sea shelling. The beaches at Sanibel, Captiva and Lovers Key are rated as some of the best in Florida and are but a short ride from the house.

We were on business to Fort Myers when we discovered that we can stay in a comfortable home for the same cost as a hotel. So we searched for a home that we could eventually retire to. This home is located on a quite street with no thru traffic so walking or biking is safe. We enjoy being only minutes from the river from our back door. With Direct Gulf Access.
We enjoy staying at our home sitting on the linai with a cup of coffee in the morning watching the fish jump and catching up on email. Shopping is minutes away. The beaches are a short trip across the bridge
