Family Holiday

This place is amazing! The rock fire place in the family room is one-of-a-kind. The pool was the biggest hit - huge and well-maintained. The secluded location of the house provided ultimate privacy. We had way more room than we needed (8 adults and 3 children), but enjoyed having the excess space. The house is well maintained. Although the home did not initially have a high chair and a pack-and-play, the owners immediately bought new ones for us upon our arrival. We will remember our holiday week for years to come.

Retreat to nature for your next event

5 of 5
Submitted: June 28, 2012 Stayed: June 2012
Pickard's Mountain Lodge is an exceptionally beautiful and breathtaking piece of construction. The stonework alone represents an engineering marvel and the huge windows and scent of cedar wood contribute to the enjoyment of being surrounded by nature. The family and friends who gathered to celebrate a UNC graduation and to attend a pig roast expressed delight with the facility -- especially the grotto-like pool, the kitchen, the landscaping and the "man cave." We all appreciated the secluded location, the evening sounds (and visits) of frogs, the rooftop views, the stars, and the total atmosphere of relaxation away from everyday hustle-bustle. We appreciate the owners orientation towards alternative (green) energy sources, commitment to recycling, growing and donating vegetables and meticulous maintenance of the property. It seems to be not just a place -- but a philosophy.

Hosts, Tom, Anne and Galen, were attentive to every need and shared some of the local lore concerning the property. (It does appear that the owners are still involved in furnishing the lodge, as some of the furniture seen in the listing photos are no longer on the premises -- but, happily, Tom made a special trip out to deliver personally some pans large enough to cook breakfast for 22 people! Most appreciated!) I would enthusiastically recommend Pickard's Mountain Lodge -- designed as it is to accommodate and absorb a good sized crowd -- and hope to return next year to host the annual pig roast once again at this location. A five star experience -- no question!

Family & Friends celebrating UNC Graduation

Family & Friends celebrating UNC Graduation
5 of 5
Submitted: May 23, 2012 Stayed: May 2012
My daughter graduated from UNC & I was lucky enough to discover The Lodge at Pickards Mountain. I gathered family & friends at The Lodge to both celebrate her graduation & to enjoy a family reunion. It was perfect!
She & her friends had a fabulous party after their graduation. We hosted a cookout on the beautiful
patio & then they enjoyed the pool, the theatre room, the pool table, the massive fireplaces -
everything! They had no desire to leave & drive anywhere - which made me happy! And there was
room for all of her friendsto spend the night - from the tower room to the bunk room.
The family (older generation) enjoyed the beautiful gardens, the landscaping, the pool, stargazing
& just relaxing & visiting. And we had plenty of beds for all.
We walked the trails, looked at the beautiful vegetable garden & just had fun hanging out outside or in - whatever suited us.
I especially loved the morning solitude & the amazing night sounds of nature.
Tom, Anne & Galen are gracious hosts. They thought of everything. The house is comfortable &
well appointed. The craftsmanship & artisitc design are truly breathtaking.
My family & my daughter's friends are still talking about how cool everything about the weekend was.
I wholeheartedly recommend The Lodge at Pickard's Mountain. I am already daydreaming
about my next visit!
