Retreat to nature for your next event

Pickard's Mountain Lodge is an exceptionally beautiful and breathtaking piece of construction. The stonework alone represents an engineering marvel and the huge windows and scent of cedar wood contribute to the enjoyment of being surrounded by nature. The family and friends who gathered to celebrate a UNC graduation and to attend a pig roast expressed delight with the facility -- especially the grotto-like pool, the kitchen, the landscaping and the "man cave." We all appreciated the secluded location, the evening sounds (and visits) of frogs, the rooftop views, the stars, and the total atmosphere of relaxation away from everyday hustle-bustle. We appreciate the owners orientation towards alternative (green) energy sources, commitment to recycling, growing and donating vegetables and meticulous maintenance of the property. It seems to be not just a place -- but a philosophy.
Hosts, Tom, Anne and Galen, were attentive to every need and shared some of the local lore concerning the property. (It does appear that the owners are still involved in furnishing the lodge, as some of the furniture seen in the listing photos are no longer on the premises -- but, happily, Tom made a special trip out to deliver personally some pans large enough to cook breakfast for 22 people! Most appreciated!) I would enthusiastically recommend Pickard's Mountain Lodge -- designed as it is to accommodate and absorb a good sized crowd -- and hope to return next year to host the annual pig roast once again at this location. A five star experience -- no question!
