We love to travel within the US and abroad, often using VRBO for our own travel bookings, most recently in the Exumas.
We are an active family, enjoying the many things to do in the great outdoors of the Woodstock/Barnard area. Skiing, snowshoeing, hiking, horseback riding and swimming are among our favorites.
Christie Kent purchased this cabin in 1997
My husband grew up in Woodstock and we couldn't imagine a better place to escape from our busy life in Boston. His parents live at the property next door and are the caretakers of the cabin, ensuring all your needs are met.
We got engaged here on the top of Mt. Tom and have created many priceless memories in this idyllic setting.
Our cabin is private, yet within a 15 minute drive to the town of Woodstock, Quechee, Mt. Tom and Suicide Six.
There are plenty of activities to do right outside the cabin. You are welcome to use our snowshoes, canoe and chairs/floats etc. to swim in the pond. We are a short and beautiful walk away from Lime Pond.
There are numerous wonderful restaurants and seasonal activities to enjoy. We are happy to suggest different dining options to you. They range from upscale to casual family pizza restaurants. Some
activities include the summer concert series at Suicide Six, The Chili Cookoff, The Covered Bridge 1/2 Marathon, Visiting the Mt. Tom Farmers Market, Billings Farm, The Woodstock Farmers Market.....
Visited for my birthday and Valentines, couldn't have been a more storybook setting. Next to the waterfall and snowing, it was like a movie. The cottage was great, loved the wood buring stove and large kitchen. Woodstock was a short drive away and lots of great food options near by. We're already planning our next trip in Summer/Fall to hike and enjoy the beautiful surrounding!
Thanks so much for sharing your cottage! The owners were wonderful and easy to arrange checkin. Thanks again!
We spent New Year's week at this wonderful cabin to escape city life for awhile.
The cabin is set on a beautiful wooded hillside next to a waterfall and looks out over a pristine pond and a very pretty rural landscape. There are two other cabins adjacent to the property but far enough away that we felt secluded with plenty of privacy. The cabin itself is warm, spacious, and well-decorated with tasteful furnishings. A really nice simple design. The bed linens were very soft. I cook a lot and I was so happy that the kitchen was appointed with everything I needed to prepare our meals. I especially appreciated all of the cooking utensils, measuring cups, and serving dishes.
The cabin is heated by a gas fireplace which is set up on a thermostat. We were cozy and warm despite low temps outside. We also lit fires in the cast iron wood stove in the evenings. (Heaven.) There is a dvd player and folks might want to bring some movies to watch, but we were pretty happy just reading by the fire in the evenings.
We went for long hikes every day - there are plenty of good hills/mountains to explore right near the cabin. We also popped into Woodstock for a dinner one night. It is a really great downtown. We decided not to ski while we were there but we could have easily done so at Suicide 6 or Killington. (There wasn't much snow cover the week we were there.) We enjoyed the hiking a lot - I think that we were sometimes trespassing on the edges of the Twin Farms Inn property nearby but no one seemed to mind.
The owners of the cabin were great at answering questions promptly before we headed up there. Very nice to deal with. We liked it so much that we plan to go up again in the Spring or Summer and bring our two little girls.
(The one thing that I would note is that you might actually need 4-wheel drive if you plan to go in the winter and you get hit with a snow storm. Parts of the road and driveway seem like they would be pretty steep if they got snow or ice-covered.)
This cabin is everything you might want to enjoy a beautiful laid back weekend in Vt. The location is perfect, the cabin simple yet so well equipped. We wanted for nothing - even ate most of our meals at home because the kitchen has everything! The waterfall and pond provide an added sense of peace . We did go into Woodstock (a short drive) and to the Barnard Country Store (great!) but mostly relaxed on the deck with a cup of coffee or in the comfort of the living room with a glass of wine and the warmth of a woodstove. Owners very helpful and delightful too!
My wife and I were looking to take a short honeymoon right after our wedding. We found this cottage and couldn't have been happier with our decision! We were less than 10 minutes from downtown Woodstock and less than 5 minutes to Suicide 6 mountain. The cabin was awesome to stay in! The woodstove kept the entire house warm and toasty, the view was gorgeous and to get to the cabin itself you walk over an awesome bridge next to a waterfall! The owners learned that it was our honeymoon and we were thrilled to see a nice bottle of champagne and a card...It was a great little touch.
My family and I just finished a lovely stay at this perfect cabin. We were absolutely charmed by every aspect of this place, from the pond in which we swam and canoed every day, to the small waterfall that runs through the property, to the beautifully appointed cabin with fantastic views, great linens and a well-stocked kitchen. We would highly recommend this property for anyone who wants a great getaway.
This was a perfect getaway cabin with a great swimming lake which we used every day.great cabin, clean and very well equipped but don't expect any TV or telephone reception. ( normally not a problem for us but husband missed the Olympic coverage!).It would have been better if the owners had removed the old beer cans from the waterfall's pool - they had clearly been there for some time and formed a not very positive first impression. However - overall - it was a great place and we had a great time.
THE ACTUAL ADDRESS IS 16 TURKEY HOLLOW LANE. this is located off of Lime Pond Road. It is a private dirt road. There is a small white sign 'Turkey Hollow'. Bear right down diveway and cabin is set back up the hill to the right of our pond. If you pass Lime Pond on your Right you have gone a little too far if you are coming from Woodstock.
Within several miles of Suicide Six ski area and accessible to Killington.
Just a short ride into Woodstock, VT. Located in proximity to Vermont Law School, Hanover and Dartmouth.
