Cycling information:
The Chalet offers specialist cycling accommodation for some of the thousands of visitors who flock to the area to enjoy the gruelling climbs and exhilarating descents offered by the French Alpes. Local climbs include Col de la Croix de Fer, Col du Galibier, and Col du Glandon to name a few. At the Chalet we have details of all the local climbs, a bike wash area, secure bike shed and all the tools you may need! If you fancy taking part in the famous, ’La Marmotte’ race or would like to enjoy the Alpe d’Huez stage of the Tour De France, then Chalet Ribot is perfect for you!
For those looking for a little more danger, Alpe d’Huez and the neighbouring resort of Les 2 Alpes offer all levels of mountain biking tracks. The Mountain of Hell and Mega Avalanche downhill mountain biking races are hosted by both Alpe d’Huez and Les 2 Alpes.
Ski:
The resort of Alpe d’Huez has over 238 km of linked pistes and is home to the famous Pic Blanc. The Sarenne, the world's longest ski piste is 16 km in length and descends over 2200m in vertical drop (one hour of downhill skiing!)
Alpe d’Huez is linked to the resorts of Vaujany, Villard-Reculas and Auris-en-Oisans.
It also has 20 legendary off piste ski routes, one half pipe and a snow park. If you want more then why not visit Les 2 Alpes, it is right next door and you have a day visit included on the six-day Visalp ski pass.
Resort characteristics: 37 green runs, 31 blue, 32 red and 17 black runs. Two special areas exclusively for beginners, one floodlit run, 50 km of cross-country ski trails, 30 km of hiking paths and one night sledge run.
