I grew up in Northcentral Wisconsin and have always enjoyed woodland and lake life. I bought this property for to enjoy with my two children, who are now away at school, which is why I have opened my home up to others who enjoy a great North woods adventure and escape.
Nancy McCutcheon purchased this house in 2004
Hayward is a great place to relax but also offers great restaurants, golf, mini-golf, go carting, old fashioned candy shop, nature center, petting zoo and other great activities for the whole family.
The cabin is on a wooded property just steps from the water. If you enjoy going on long walks you can go for miles, exploring all that Northern WI has to offer. Angler's Haven is a fun bar/restaurant one mile from the cabin. It is on beautiful Lac Courte Oreilles and has a great menu and activities for kids of all ages.
We enjoyed a quiet extended weekend in this cute and cozy cabin. It was very close to the snowmobile trails which worked out perfect for us. We will definitely come back.
My husband and I were looking for a perfect get-a-way with our daughter. This was beyond perfect! Didn't want to be too close to hayward, but close enough that we could get there in 15-20 min. The location was ideal. We loved the house! The lake is peaceful. Went for walks on the quiet road. Didn't realize there was a TV - so we had true bonding time. Definitely will return when we can. It was AWESOME!
We stayed at the cabin this past summer and absolutely adored it. There is everything you would ever need and our experience was positive all around. There are areas to congregate and visit, as well as areas that you can relax and be alone. Between fishing off the dock, the water toys, the fire pit and the full kitchen, there is something for everyone. We will be back!
Beautiful, cozy, and peaceful. Cabin was very clean. Kids loved fishing off the dock and using the paddleboards. Connects to Durphee Lake by a narrow channel. Very near restaurants and Hayward is a short drive away. Room enough to park your truck and boat.
My husband and I spent a wonderful week here. I would absolutely recommend this cottage to anyone, everything about it was great. The cottage itself was well furnished and had everything we needed, the outside was beautiful. We rented the pontoon for the week, my husband fished while I read a book, the lake is not big, but it was peaceful and beautiful, we were the only ones ever on the lake. There are some great restaurants near by, we had a fish fry at The Waterfront, pizza at Anglers Haven, and a great steak at The Fireside, they are all just a few miles from the cottage. In summary, if you are looking for a beautiful, relaxing, and peaceful place this would be it, my husband and I are both hoping to get back there soon, a week wasn't long enough! Thank you Nancy for sharing your cottage with us and getting back to me so promptly with my questions!
What a wonderful place to vacation. Peaceful, relaxing and cozy. Weather was great. Fishing for panfish was awesome. My 8 year old didn't want to ever stop fishing:)Only a short distance to Hayward & Stone Lake for shopping or adventure. Riding stable not far. Had a great trail ride. Cabin was neat and clean. Furnishings were just what we needed. You'll enjoy relaxing campfires, listening to the loons and using the canoe/paddle boat. Plenty of wild life present. Owner was great to work with. Easy communication. I would highly recommend spending your vacation here.
Lumberjack competition every summer in Hayward. Rodeo every summer in Spooner.
