Wonderful Vacation Cabin

  • 5 of 5
What a wonderful place to vacation. Peaceful, relaxing and cozy. Weather was great. Fishing for panfish was awesome. My 8 year old didn't want to ever stop fishing:)Only a short distance to Hayward & Stone Lake for shopping or adventure. Riding stable not far. Had a great trail ride. Cabin was neat and clean. Furnishings were just what we needed. You'll enjoy relaxing campfires, listening to the loons and using the canoe/paddle boat. Plenty of wild life present. Owner was great to work with. Easy communication. I would highly recommend spending your vacation here.

Awesome Cabin!!!

Everything about this place was top notch. Enjoyed the use of the paddle boat and caught plenty of pan fish in the lake. Lake was very peaceful, since it's on the small side we had the entire lake to ourselves. Great restaurants within minutes.

Communication with Nancy was easy and she is very responsive. Would definitely go back here the next time we are looking to go to Hayward.

A peaceful place

  • 5 of 5
My Wife and I had a wonderful experience at the house during our week long stay. The house is situated on a quite road that has just a few houses past it and a few in before it. Mostly no one was around at all on the small lake that the house borders. The property is nicely landscaped and the house is nicely appointed and clean. It had almost everything we needed. The photos and listing descriptions were generally accurate in that regard. The owner was very helpful both before and during our stay. There were a few bald eagles that we saw and most nights we heard and sometimes saw loons. The most significant thing I think we could say was about how peaceful the place was. I got more sleep in a weeks time than I can ever remember getting in my entire life.

We are outdoors people and enjoyed paddling on several rivers and lakes in the Hayward area. We saw lots of bald eagles in that area. My wife's quote is that we saw more bald eagles than we saw robins. That is true but we did not see that many robins as a point of reference. I also would want to comment on how warm and nice the people in that area were to us. That was without exception and was remarkable.

We ate at the Angler's Haven that is about a mile from there and had a nice pizza and enjoyed the ambiance, eating outside. We also would recommend the Angry Minnow and the Angler's Bar and Grill which has a small bowling alley inside the bar. Both of these are in Hayward.

I would not hesitate to recommend this place to anyone, especially if you like peaceful surroundings, water, and other outdoor activities. There are many beautiful places to travel to. This is one to which we hope to be able to return .

Perfect! Thanks for sharing with us!

My recent stay with my husband and kids (ages 4 and 6) exceeded our expectations. The cabin is clean and comfortable and the lake is beautiful. You can tell the owner really loves the place, and we are thankful she shared it with our family. The beds were cozy and comfortable (close the windows, though- the loons kept me up at night! :) ) We all enjoyed spending time on the dock and playing with the boats and paddle boards. The cabin is close enough to everything to be able to explore the area but we felt like we had the whole lake to ourselves when we returned. It was nice to come back after our days' adventures and relax on the deck and tell stories by the campfire. We were close enough to Cheqamegon for my husband to get in some good mountain biking while the kids and I played around town. We also made some great day trips- close enough to Copper Falls to hike for the day, and even made it up to Madeline Island for an overnight camping adventure. Dinner at Famous Dave's was great, and there's plenty of fun things to do around town- we enjoyed mini golf and Tremblay's the most. We didn't eat out much, the kitchen is fully stocked. We were actually surprised at how little we ate out- I enjoyed cooking and staying in, the cabin is just so comfortable. We spent a lot of time just enjoying the peace and quiet- even the kids were able to relax! Can't think if a single complaint, it was well worth every penny!

Relaxing

  • 5 of 5
The description and photos were accurate. This was a nice place to unplug and unwind. The owner was easy to work with, and was very helpful in giving us local dining suggestions. We did not rent the pontoon, but enjoyed the canoe and paddleboat, and the kids even tried the paddleboards. The lake is small, ok for fishing, but not for swimming. We went to nearby Round lake for swimming. The lake itself is quiet, but the road on the other side of the lake can be a bit noisy at times with truck traffic. Cabin is close enough to Hayward (10-15 min drive) for shopping and casually strolling around. A comfortable place to relax!

Wonderful & Relaxing

The cabin above is actually more lovely in person - extremely clean and exactly the type of home you'd expect to see up north. The kitchen has everything you'd need and everything was in great condition. The view of the lake is beautiful and there are a lot of great spots to sit outside and enjoy nature. Just be careful if you hear a rustling in the woods as we did encounter a black bear on our first day there! Thankfully, it was more scared of us than we were of him - he ran off almost immediately, and we got a great vacation story out of it.

We did rent the pontoon boat, but only ended up using it 2 times. The lake is fairly small and shallow so cruising around isn't much of an option if that's what you're looking for, but if you're looking to go fish - the pontoon would be great. It's spacious and in great condition and the lake is very peaceful...we saw fish jumping everywhere and all kinds of little turtles sunbathing on the logs.

I would highly recommend this cabin as a relaxing getaway, but it's also close to town in case you'd like a little more action. The owner was very responsive to email and great to deal with. Would definitely rent again! Our first experience using VRBO was a great one.
