2 bedroom, 2 bathroom village house close to Chateau, vineyards and river walks

A self catering 2 bedroom 2 bathroom rental unit close to Loire Castles and wineries and river walks. This beautifully restored cottage is set in the centre of the village of Francueil less than a mile from Chenonceaux. This lovely villa is available all the year round. It suits two couples and has 2 beautifully decorated double bedrooms each with its own sitting area and open log fire. Bedroom one faces south with views across the village and beyond; it has a corner sitting area with view of the church; its bathroom is next door. Bedroom two is at the back of the house and is a lovely room with corner sitting area with view of the church and its own corner shower room. Furnished in new oak the living room has a three piece suite, dining table and chairs, and french window to the patio. The kitchen has everything you need; double oven, SMEG electric ceramic hob, dish washer and fridge. A utility room has a washer-drier, freezer and WC. Bikes are available for your use. Wifi.

About Ann Palmer

I am a private owner living in England but who loves France and the way of life. John and I visit the cottages several times a year to ensure all is going well and to have a lovely time there ourselves and with our family. I spend a lot of time painting while I am there and John looks after the maintenance. We are both retired doctors though when we boght the cottages we were very busy now we have more time to enjoy our lovely home.

Why Ann Palmer chose Francueil

We were bowled over when we saw this lovely house; it was in a poor state but with great potential. We spent a year lovingly restoring the cottage to imaculate condition. It is on priome position in the village with the bar across the road and excellent shipping facilities beyond the church which is next to the cottage. There is also a playground for children and a lake for quiet walks and picnics, also fishing. The village is very close to Chenonceau, the most visited chateau after Versailles. A short walk takes you to the river and you can walk alingside the river to view the chateau or alternatively take hte bikes or car to the village of Chenonceaux and full visit of the castle, there is an excellent restuarnat for lunch there.

What makes this cottage unique

This cottage used to be the village bakery and is centrally located. It has been smartly decorated and well equipped; I would say uniquely of our properties it is a top class home with superb bedroom facuilities. The kitchen is well equipped for a serous cook. The sitting room opens onto thesecluded terrace so you can enjoy outdoor eating in the afternpoon and evening sunshine ro stay inside and still have the benefits of the french window. Situation is perfect for visitng the chateaux, we are a short drive from the autoroute junction so quick access to chateaux down beyond Tours such as Villandry, Usse, Chinon.

Central Region Loire Valley France. This cottage is only a mile from Chateau de Chenonceau the most popular of the Loire Valley chateaux and within easy reach of the other castles. We are also centred in the Touraine Wine region and you can taste Sauvignon, Chenin, Cabernet and Gamay locally. we are between Tours and Blois and within easy driving of Sanceree, Bourges, Amboise, Chinon and Saumur and the west coast of France

Visiti the famous and historic Loire Valley Chateaux (Castles) we are within walknig distance of Chenonceau and easy drive for Amboise, Chaumont, Azay-le-Rideau, Chinon, Villandry, Cheverny and Chambord and all other Loire Valley attractions.

We shall send you a list of our favourite places to go wine tasting; we are in the centre of the famous Touraine vineyards; come in September and experience the harvest!

Golf: We are about half an hour from the famous golf course at Cherverny ( by the Chateau).

If you are a fisherman we have great places for you - we are on the River Cher also there is a lake in the village.

  • Non-refundable deposit of £100 per week required at time of booknig, the balancewill be paid 6 weeks before your holiday. Please e mail me for a booking form. Prices include heating and light, cookibg and water, but not bed linen and towels (avaiable to hire) or terminal cleaning.

    Note: weekend night is for Friday, Sat and Sunday nights
  • Prices include elecctricity and water including heating; logs for the open fireplace are £20 a week

    Linen extra £30 per double bed; cleaning £50. People are very welcome to bring their own linen and to clean the cottage when they leave.

    The cottages are always inspected so please be assured they will be in good condition when ioyu arrive, if you have any problem we will do our best to rectifiy this as soon as possible.
  • When you have paid for your holiday you will receive a pack with directions, loads of information about the cottage and the region etc.

  • Our bedrooms are pure luxury with beautiful decorations and their own sitting area and bath / shower rooms. The bathrooms are fitted with luxury equipment, the bath is a slipper bath with roll top and invites snoozing with a glass of champange (there is now a table to put your glass down!). The shower cabinets are large and tiled with very special designs.

Both bedrooms are beautifully decorated in Laura Ashley papers and furnished with modern oak. Both have an open fireplace which can be used for log fires. Both have a corner sitting area.

In a great location for exploring the Loire

We had a very enjoyable stay in this lovely property which is very central to the Chateaux of the Loire Valley. You would require a car to stay at this property as it is a few kilometres from Montrichard.
Owner's Response: Thank you Kerry I am delighted you have enjoyed our pretty cottage which is located in the village of Bourre on a quiet hillside behind the main street where you can buy your croissants in the morning. You can buy basic provisions in the village but big supermarkets are located in nearby Montrichard. We are centrally located for visiting the attractions of the Loire Valley just 10 minutes drive from Chenonceau. We provide bicycles for enjoyment of the river path to Montrichard and Chenonceau or across country (10 to15 miles) to Pontlevoy, Amboise and Chaumont. We also would recommend a car as the distance between chateaux is a half hours drive especially if you hope to see Chinon and Villandry to the west and Chambord to the east. Ann

Heat wave holiday

We had a great time in the cottage and patio though we were here during a heat wave! The neighbour came by and we all tried our best to communicate – very friendly folks. The Cocci Market is convenient, clean and well run. Roger and Francoise at the Lion d’Or are charming and helpful. The cottage is nicely furished and decorated, very homely.

A fantastic time was had by all. Loved staying at the cottage. Highly recommend the Cheval Rouge Restaurant in Chisseux for a special meal. Sad to leave.

We have enjoyed a wonderful holiday. The gite is very comfortable and well furnished with a lovely kitchen. There are plenty of places to visit and beautiful countryside.

Excellent bathrooms and showers. Very comfortable beds, sitting rooms, kitchen is well appointed with good equipment.
