In 1970 we honeymooned on Big Island. Many years and many visits later we bought this condo. We have had lots of visits here to decide the Big Island is our choice and Kona Isle is our property choice.

We will make this unit available from April through October which is ideal for teachers and others who find the travel costs for winter holidays are much higher.

Joyce Johnson purchased this condo in 2012

Many visits have confirmed this is our favourite place to be.

Enjoying the quiet scenic aspects of this small complex while still being close to everything else.

We enjoyed our stay at Kona Isle. The unit was clean, pleasant, comfortable, well-maintained, and provided all the amenities for our needs. There were beach towels, chairs, and mats. The kitchen was extremely well-equipped with all the necessary pots and pans. The property itself had a great bar-b-que area and lovely ocean view.
Joyce was a pleasure to work with. All business proceeded with ease. I have already recommended this property to a friend.
We enjoyed the local farmers markets and the great snorkeling.

First I'll say I read a lot of reviews and looked at many condos for the Kona area. I was excited to find such a nicely remodeled condo for this price. We stayed 5 nights in July after a celebration at Pearl Harbor and a stay of 4 nights (Oahu). This unit was better than imagined. The owner was very nice to work with and responded immediately to my inquiry.

The location was excellent for us. The pictures of the condo unit do not do it justice, as the neutral color tones are much more inviting in person. There are interesting Hawaiian themed pictures on every wall and an overall pleasant feel. The remodeled kitchen and bathroom are very upscale; so much nicer than a similar condo we rented on Maui. The kitchen has nice dishes and stemware and everything you could want, even glass pie plates if you want to bake. The bedroom is not large, but the low chests of drawers are very useful; the queen bed is comfortable too.

Being on the third floor we could see out over the grounds and see the ocean from the lanai where we enjoyed breakfast every day. There is even a loveseat on the lanai for reading and just enjoying the Hawaii vibe. Something that encouraged me to rent here was the sandy area with very nice lawn chairs and picnic tables. We sat there to watch the ocean and the beautiful sunsets right in front of the condo. Many people used the barbeques and tables for dinner; however, we didn’t get a chance to try them.

Five days is definitely not long enough to take in all of the sites and also enjoy the comfortable condo unit. My only caution would be for those who are used to air conditioned homes, they may find the unit too warm during summer months. There are many fans that help with circulation. Like many of the reviewers, we would like to return here again soon and stay much longer.

While in Kailua-Kona we drove as far north as one can go on highway 250 through the Kohala Mountains to the northern town of Hawi, a quaint little town. We also saw the original King Kamehameha Statue at Kapa’au and drove to the end of the road at Pololu Valley Lookout. There is an awesome view below. Another day we drove to the Chain of Craters road and saw Volcanoes National Park.

There are many interesting shops in the area and reasonable restaurants, like Fish Hopper where we ate lunch with a beautiful view of the ocean. We had a wonderful dinner at Huggos on the Beach while listening to Hawaiian music including a hula dancer. It was absolutely perfect.

Owner's Response: So pleased that the places of interest were mentioned. Five days is definitely not enough!
Hawaii is hotter in summer but 85 degrees would probably be max. The lawn chairs right at surf edge are my retreat if needed.
We chose not to have A/|C and have all new adjustable speed ceiling fans plus a tower fan in living areas. The bedroom has two tabletop fans for sleeping.Important to keep bedroom windows and lanai door open for good air movement.
Electricity is so expensive in Hawaii that A/C would necessitate a big higher rental fee.

Nicely appointed with extras such as good knives, spice rack, cooler and washer/dryer very much appreciated. Grounds and pool were immaculate. Lots of seating by the ocean. Owner was prompt and helpful with enquiries and suggestions and very kindly gave us a late check-out.

I live in Hawaii and often book vacation rentals when visiting friends on the outer island. I have stayed in 39 (and counting) properties over several years. This small, quiet resort complex is well worth considering. The grounds are carefully maintained, and this unit was nicely furnished and I really appreciated the remodeled kitchen and bath. The kitchen had everything I needed plus a wide variety of spices, coffee, tea and cooking utensils. I recommend checking in before you grocery shop.
The swimming pool is great, I had it to myself almost every evening; it is solar heated and sparkling clean.
The BBQ area out on the ocean front was a popular option, although I did not use the grills there was always someone cooking and enjoying a glass of wine or beer at the ocean front. On most nights we had a beautiful sunset and I met several other nice visitors.
Although this condo is not in walking distance to the main shopping areas or a major grocery store, you will be a short drive away on Alii Drive to Kailua-Kona town. It is a good home base for sightseeing and very quiet in the evenings.
Mahalo Joyce for your hospitality and quick return on my emails and deposit.

This condo was a great place to spend our week on the Big Island. It has a convenient location, nice grounds, beautiful area to laze away the day down on the ocean front. The condo is very nice, clean, and well-maintained with lots of new renovations..great kitchen-very well equipped. We cooked in often and had everything we needed. The owner was very accommodating. We would recommend this property.
