Uvita Villa Rental Photos and Description

Villa, 2 Bedrooms, 2 Baths, (Sleeps 4)

I fell in love with this property because of the uniqueness of it . I believe you will too. It sits high above two river valleys and adjacent to a waterfall below, easily accessable. You will want to be there every day. If you would like , let us prepare a picnic basket for you.

The casita was newly built in 2011, highlighting Asian characteristics with indoor outdoor living thanks to sliding glass doors that disappear into the wall for total access to the pool area. There are two bedrooms with private baths off each. The master has an outdoor shower and indoor Jacuzzi . The living area is accented by a gas fireplace that can certainly be enjoyed many times a year. There is a small patio adjacent to the pool and jungle that we use for private sunbathing , stargazing and yoga. A/C is available in the bedrooms but not necessary as there is always a flowing through the casita during the day. It can be chilly at night.

There is so much to offer that it is best to see the pictures and write Mercedes with any other questions you may have .

About The Owner

I visited Costa in 1993 but never dreamed of building until my daughter and her family moved five years ago. They now raise two of my grand children here and love it.... I love the interesting mix of the Gringo and Tico communities. We all celebrate life, share and appreiate CR's beauty.

I am fortunate to call my main home MN, where I keep my horse, Kato and golf at the two best courses in the Midwest, Cragun's Legacy and Madden's Classic. I also visit my friend's Colorado home as much as possible in between... What an amazing three locations to live .

The ultimate private getaway for a couple

  • 5 of 5

Where to start...The property, the house, the's just beautiful. The house is up the mountain about 5km in the middle of the jungle, with a view that is quite breathtaking. We would sit there in the mornings eating breakfast and just stare at the view. The pool is amazing and perfect for couples or even a family. You can just lean on the side of the pool and take in the view or float around on the floats and take in the sun. The house is the perfect size for 2-4 people. The open floor plan and windows and doors make the house seem much bigger than it is. The beds are comfy and the amenities are modern and wonderful including the outdoor shower. Everything you need is there to cook your own meals, and the house is close enough to tons of great restaurants. We ate at the Roadshack Cafe in Uvita, Patron at Dominicalito Beach, La Parcela in Dominical and Tortilla Flats at Dominicalito Beach. All were excellent and highly recommended to us. This house is perfect for adventurers. We rented a car (4x4 is a must) and explored almost every day. I would recommend going with a little bit nicer of a 4x4 than the Diahatsu Terios that we got. It was a little weak going up the mountain but it did the job. It's close to Jaco Beach, Quepos, Dominical Beach, Playa Hermosa, Uvita Beach where the famous Whale Tail is and only 2.5 hours drive from San Jose. The drive is beautiful by the way. The coastline is stunning. The sunsets are some of the best we've seen. You can see plenty of wildlife on your stay here. We saw toucans every day around 5pm from the pool/patio. We saw green parrots and hawks flying through the valley. We saw huge Cane Toads and iguanas and geckos. Also check out Villas Alturas Wildlife Sanctuary where they save, nurture and reintroduce animals back to the wild. One of the highlights of our trip was when Chuck and Mercedes took us to their beautiful waterfall, river and cliff jumping site behind the house on their property. It was just an amazing experience all around and Chuck and Merc were the perfect hosts. We will be back hopefully over and over and over. Costa Rica was everything we needed and wanted in a great vacation and we definitely could live there. All of the places in Costa Rica take US dollars, so don't worry about exchanging money. Highly commend this property. Thanks Chuck and Merc for helping us make amazing memories!

Perfect and Unforgettable

  • 5 of 5

If you want to experience the natural vibes of Costa Rica without giving up the luxury modern conveniences and without the hassles of a hotel, this is the ideal choice. The two-bedroom, two-bath layout of the Casita was perfect for our family of three, a couple with a college-age son. We visited for 8 days over the Labor Day weekend and didn't want to leave. Mercedes is the perfect host because she respects your privacy but is only an email away if you need anything. She connected us with some unforgettable experiences, and practicalities like best restaurants and where to buy groceries. The wifi works great and there's a welcome book that explains everything about the house and surrounding area.

We never turned on the TV because there is so much to do. We went canyoning, zip lining, hiking and rafting. You'll need a 4-wheel drive to go anywhere off the main highway and the road to Casa Namaste is one of the best maintained in the area. But the beauty of this property is that you don't have to go anywhere. We woke up to the sunrise, bird calls and howler monkeys. Afternoon was happy hour by the pool and dinner we prepared in the well-equpped kitchen. Venture down to the bottom of the hill to swim in the natural waterfalls and whirlpools. And did I mention the view? The pictures don't do it justice.

We're a family of world travelers who like to "go local" whenever we can. This was one of our all-time best experiences with a rental property. Highly recommended.

Pura Vida Jungle Retreat

  • 5 of 5

I am a seasoned traveler to Costa Rica and spend much of my time in vacation rentals. They are such a great value over hotels. I know all of Costa Rica and by far the best region is Uvita and Dominical for the best beaches and rivers to play in. This region still has the rawness of Untouched jungles.

The house is just magnificent. It sits at a very good elevation about a 1,000 feet above the ocean. The rap around views are incredible! The forest canopy is above and below. I was able to enjoy all the wild life from the comfort of the pool deck. I am a photographer and kept my camera at the ready. White-Faced monkies were in the tree adjacent to the house one day. The bird life plentiful with many toucans singing in the morning and flying about.

The house is an architectural digest cover house. The floor plan focuses on nature. From every room you feel a part of the outdoors. The photos of the house show it very well. What is missing is in those shots is the sounds, the breezes, the views of the passing mist clouds that pass through the mountain and above the rio. You could spend your entire trip right at the house and be extremely satisfied.

The kitchen is very well supplied with everything you will need. Washer& dryer, iron and any other need is available. The wifi was a great feature. I could watch streaming tv using my tablet and stay in contact with family and friends.

The house is 5 kilometers off the costal highway. I know of all the roads in the region and this mountain road is the best. You will need a 4x4 just like you would for any house that is remote in Costa Rica. The drive up is your own jungle exploration. You will marvel at the ocean views of the Whales Tail in Uvita. As you make the drive you will see primary forest with large 100 year old hard wood trees.

The house is very private. Mercedes lives close by for any assistance with the house or for activites or just recommendation to beaches or restaurants. There are 5 star restaurants close by and then there are the road side ceviche stands. All great. The beaches range from Domincal with beach bars and surfing to private beaches at Domicalito and many more.

Absolutely perfect

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I stayed in the house for a week. It was absolutely perfect! Mercedes was the best host imaginable. She answered all our questions (even though I think my wife emailed her way too often). She is very on-top of her email and responded to all her questions incredibly fast. She had a nice local dinner waiting for us upon arrival. It was so good that we requested it one more time before we left Costa Rica. The house is very well maintained. There are two bedrooms with king size beds. Both are air conditioned and are very comfortable. There are two bathrooms. One is connected to a bedroom and has a stand-up shower. The other is just off of the other bedroom and has a tub. This bathroom also opens to the outdoor shower. The living room and kitchen have an open air concept, and despite not being air conditioned, provide a very nice breeze. There is a full kitchen (stocked with any cooking spices you need) with dishes and silverware. There is a washer/dryer in the unit as well. The pool is private and looks over an incredible view of the valley below and the ocean. This was the only place where we saw toucans as they flew between trees in the valley (bring binoculars). The outdoor area is great. There is a dining table and many loungers. There is also an outdoor gas grill that we used several times to prepare food. There is a grocery store at the bottom of the mountain in Uvita. Make sure you get a 4-wheel drive car as the road to the house requires'll never make it up without it.

Mercedes also set up a hiking tour for us with two locals (Enrique and Umberto). It was on the same mountain, just down the road. These two brothers have a HUGE property that includes rivers and several waterfalls. Enrique lead us on an incredible hike (bring hiking boots) where we saw all that Costa Rica has to offer. Enrique was very well versed in the area species as he is born and raised on this mountain. We highly recommend their tour. At the end of the tour, Umberto and his wife had prepared a delicious meal with all the ingredients right from their land.

We would highly recommend this casita for anyone...couples, families, friends, etc. We'd definitely stay here again on our next Costa Rica trip! Thanks for everything Mercedes!

We recently spent our honeymoon at Casa Namaste and we constantly remarked how lucky we were. The house is clean and comfortable, Mercedes is amazing, and the location is beautiful and safe. Some of the highlights of our trip included surfing, listening to howlers off our deck, reading in the pool, hanging out with the toads and lizards at night, fresh fruit and ceviche, hiking the road, and the incredible view. Thanks again for the honeymoon of a lifetime!

Where do you live?

Oasis away from home!

  • 5 of 5

Just returned from 8 days at this wonderfully comfortable, relaxing casita in the jungle! There is not one thing that is uncomfortable with this home. Everything that we needed was here and Mercedes was a true gem who organized our excursions and dinner options. One could choose to never leave this oasis...the jungle sounds, smells and sights are worth just hanging out and enjoying or those that are adventurous have plenty of great options to explore. You definitely need a 4-wheel drive to get to the casita. We especially enjoyed the outside shower, floating in the pool and sitting in the chaise reading and watching the storms blow by. Would highly recommend this rental and look forward to keeping in touch.
