2 bedroom, newly remodelled, penthouse apartment in Killadoon, Co. Mayo. Consists of two bedrooms, bathroom and spacious living/kitchen/dining area. From the kitchen you can walk out onto the balcony which offers spectacular views of the Atlantic Ocean, Clare Island and Croagh Patrick. The apartment is attached to the Ocean Lodge Hotel which has a welcoming bar and restaurant with a great menu. There is a beautiful strand only a 5 minute walk from the apartment, perfect for walking in the healthy sea air and Silver Strand, a popular surf beach, is only a 10 minute drive away. The apartment is perfectly situated to enjoy day trips to Clare Island by ferry, the bustling town of Westport, the towns and villages of Connemara or the fabulous surrounds of Kylemore Abbey with it's Victorian walled garden. It's a great place for kids, the bar and restaurant next door are fabulous. The most recent Calvin advert was filmed on the nearby Silver Strand beach.

Mayo is a region of spectacular scenery - mountains, lakes and sandy beaches, with a mild climate perfect for enjoying all that this western area of Ireland has to offer, from water activities to shopping or hiking up Croagh Patrick. There are numerous places of interest within a short drive, such as the town of Westport, including the historic Westport House, Clare Island, Kylemore Abbey and plentiful hiking and cycling trails. The region truly has something for everyone. Clare Island is only a 10 minute drive away to the ferry. Connemara with it's rugged scenery and quaint villages, is less than a half an hour away by car. Westport, with it's bustling shops, pubs and restaurants is an interesting town to spend the day in, and Kylemore Abbey, with it's extensive grounds and gardens, is a beautiful place to relax.

My wife and 3 young kids stayed here for a week in May 2008. The penthouse was very clean and everything worked. Every night we watched the sunset over a glass of wine and the beach 300metres away was fantastic for the kids. They wore themselves out every day, and slept soundly every night. The bar in the hotel next door was a real bonus. We didnt expect it to be so friendly. They couldnt do enough. Even babysitters were found. The bars in Louisburgh, 3 miles away, were not half as busy as this one. We will be back again. Michael - Dublin
