Idyllic place

Review Submitted: January 26, 2009 Date of Stay: December 2008
Stayed here for a week over Xmas and NY and we can't recommend this place enough.

Gorgeous cottage (warm, spacious, relaxing and kitted out with many mod cons), great location, lovely owners (who live nearby) that we didn't see or hear from all week as they left us to relax (though they were so kind and friendly I think they would have been equally happy to entertain us every day!), amazing walks right out of the cottage (an abundance of wildlife) and of course on Dartmoor and lots of other activities (horseriding, cycling, Cornish beaches etc). And the restaurants were exceptional.

Ideal if you're looking to get away from it all and relax for a weekend or longer. I didn't realise Devon was so beautiful.

warm and welcoming.....

Nov2009 London
Review Submitted: November 23, 2009 Date of Stay: November 2009
My boyfriend and I spent a wonderful week relaxing at Great Burrow Cottage and fell in love with the place.

It was a very pleasant surprise to find that the cottage was even better than it looked in the pictures.

The scones on arrival were a very welcome treat. The owners made sure that the cottage was very warm and welcoming when we arrived on a cold November evening.

We spent our week exploring the Cornish/Devon coast and many of the lovely local gastro pubs.

The cottage is delightful and finished to a very high standard and very well set up to spend time just relaxing/cooking indoors and enjoying the views of the moors and getting to know your neighbours (the owners chickens and ducks).

We would highly recommend it for a relaxing getaway to explore the South West and we'll definitely be coming back!

Rain didn't stop play!

Janet Big Love Brighton, UK
Review Submitted: September 12, 2008 Date of Stay: August 2008
We were expecting a wet weekend in Devon but we didn't quite anticipate HOW wet! Thankfully Great Burrows Cottage was an absolute delight, the cream tea welcome was most, er welcome and the owners and their children just as delectable! The cottage is beautiful and decorated with a great eye. We are pretty fussy and the thought of some cold, dank, cobwebby holiday home is too depressing. Happily the website photos hide no horrors. It's just gorgeous altho do take some Arnica for the inevitable headbumps courtesy of those upstairs beams (the room is so charming tho, it more than makes up for this minor inconvenience)! It's very well located for visiting many places, a car being pretty essential. We managed the Donkey Sanctuary, Otter Sanctuary, Eden Project, a local country fair, Bude Beach, Polperro and numerous drives across Dartmoor just for the hell of it - to appreciate the incredible wildness and those roadside sheep and ponies. Our only regret was that the weather meant we didn't really get to appreciate the garden and amazing views. But maybe when we return....
