During our annual trips to Alaska, we fell in LOVE with Cooper Landing Alaska. It's right in the middle the Alaskan recreation area and fishing hub.. And, it's so gorgeous! Alaska's call Cooper Landing the 'Lake Tahoe' area of the North. Only 102 miles outside of Anchorage and easy commute to other major cities on the Kenai Peninsula like Homer, Seward, Kenai, Soldotna, Ninilchick, and Hope.

Naomi Nolan purchased this cottage in 1994

We chose Cooper Landing because of it's beauty, the river and because it's a quaint small town close to everything else.

There's literally so much to do either in Cooper Landing or nearby. Weather you just want to sit back, relax, stay put and 'read a book' or stay on the move, your options abound! Nearby rafting/kayaking companies or guided fishing outfitters can take you on a breathtaking scenic boat ride down the Kenai River where you may see an abundance of wildlife (possibly even a bear!) Horsebackriding opportunities in Cooper Landing with the Alaskan Horseman's Adventures. Many public hiking trails provide ample opportunity for the most activive traveler. Take an private air or helicopter tour to see the Valley of the Glaciers from nearby Seward airport. Fish for a 'barn door sized' halibut from either Seward or Homer. Fish your heart out in the Kenai River and beat the record for the World's largest freshwater caught King Salmon!

ESPÉRANT Y REVENIR UN JOUR!!! HOPE TO COME AGAIN!!! THE BEST THAT WE EVER RENTED

  • 5 of 5
We appreciate so much this place. Such a nice green river just in front where we could fish. It was a real show to see the fish jump all over the place. The proximity of every place we visited from Seward to Homer. The commodities in the cottage, like home and more. We were two couples and had each our own space being on two levels. Great!!! It was clean and spacy. Confortable beds. Great great place!!!

Watch the Ducks

  • 5 of 5
We stayed here 3 different times last year and spent 10 days in July. Weather was awesome and evenings sitting by the river were wonderful. Took our raft again and rafted several times.
Really enjoyed the family(s) of Merganser Ducks as they swam back and forth in front of us in the evenings.

We felt so fortunate to find this lovely VBRO in Cooper Landing. The home was warm, well stocked, clean, comfortable and fit our needs very, very well! We found everything we would need in this home that is obviously well loved and cared for by the owners. It was an ideal location - ON THE RIVER, with beautiful views. The owners were responsive and helpful before our visit and everything was as described. Thank you so much for making our visit to Cooper Landing so special and comfortable for both adults and children.

The little house was cozy and clean. The down stairs accomodations were a bit small, though we used the garage as a changing area. It was disappointing to have a TV in the lower room that was not connected to anything? Why is that? I enjoyed sitting on the deck watching the river and it was nice being able to see it from the kitchen table. Except for the record rainfall - everything was fine.

Lovely cottage on the river!

  • 5 of 5
We just returned from a relaxing get away at this beautiful cottage on the river. It was very clean and had everything you could possibly want. Originally we thought we would use this cottage as a place to sleep and go off on adventures during the day. Since it was so nice we ended up staying there and only left for dinner one night. I would highly recommend this retreat!

Stayed one week in June and back for one week in July. Had a wonderful time rafting, using our raft and launching at the property. Grandkids loved it. So comfortable and relaxing. Close enough to Anchorage to have friends join us for raft trip and dinner etc. Great time.

Cooper Landing has fishing, either on the river right in front of our place, primarily for trout yearlong or Silver Salmon later in the summer/fall. Salmon fishing mid summer is available down river a few miles at the confluence of the Russian/Kenai Rivers. There is a person 'ferry' and boat ramp/fishing access area with fee parking there. You can also find other, private bank fishing at other locations when the fish are running. Typically, there's always fabulous trout fishing year round in the Kenai river and its tributaries. Private, for hire guides are available during the summer months.

Rafting down the Upper Kenai is a FABULOUS daytrip. There are a couple of Rafting outfitters in Cooper Landing.

Horseback riding is also available in Cooper Landing. There's also many public hiking trails. During the height of summer, try the Russian River trail to the falls for the possibility of seeing Brown/Black bear fishing for salmon.

There are several GREAT restaurants in the area, a small grocery store and some great little gift shops as well in Cooper Landing.

Cooper Landing is a great 'home base' or 'jumping off' point to other places of interest on the Kenai Peninsula.

Opportunity to take fun daytrips to other points of interest include:

Short drive to either Seward or Kenai/Soldotna/Ninilchick/Homer to go sightseeing, shopping, fresh/salt water fishing, fly fishing.

Clamming during summer months during low tides in Clam Gulch/Ninilchick area approx 90 minute drive from Cooper Landing.

Two hour drive to Homer, Alaska.

Seward (35 minutes drive) has shopping, salt water fishing, glacier tours, Kenai Fiord tours, horseback riding, visit an Iditarod sledding team tour and an aquarium as well as many restaurants.
