Location, location, location! Ideally located at the top of the slipway in Burgau a super little ground floor, end of terrace, 1 bedroomed apartment. Ideal for couples or perhaps a family with small baby/toddler or child. About a 1 minute walk to Burgau's fabulous sandy beach, complete with Beach Bar. Spectacular views of the sea and slipway from both bedroom and living room. Benefits from being close to all amenities - bars, restaurants, supermarkets, butcher, beach bar etc. Apartment comprises of 1 double/twin bedroom, separate fitted kitchen, shower room with shower, WC and sink, separate living room with sea views. Space outside to sit and relax, soak up the atmosphere and watch the world go by. Burgau is a lovely old quaint fishing village with cobbled streets and smugglers alleyways. It has all the charm of a traditional Portuguese village, which, of course, it is.

There are many excellent beaches along the coastline and Burgau has one of the best, with a well respected Beach Bar, who needs to go elsewhere. Salema is another nearby fishermans village also with sandy beaches and touristy type shops etc. This area is located on the edge of a natural park with miles of stunning coastline stretching towards Cape St Vincent. Lagos, the regional capital, is about 15-20 mins by car, there are local buses or taxis which could take you there. Lagos is an attractive town with cobbled pedestrian areas with various food, clothing, artefact, toy shops, banks, telephones etc. There are also plenty of bars, restaurants and night clubs. Lagos also has a marina where you can take boat trips, inc dolphin watching. For Golfers this area is very suitable with Parque da Floresta and Boavista 15 mins away. Sightseeing trips could take you as far as the Monchique Mountains or to the most westerly European tip of land at Cape St Vincent.

  • To book the Fisherman's Cottage (apartment) we would require a 25% Deposit upon Booking with the Balance being paid no later than 8 weeks prior to rental. We also request a €75 Security Deposit, which is fully refundable, subject to Terms & Conditions.
    Linen/Towels are provided but please note that we do not provide Beach Towels.

um excelente sítio para quem procura umas férias calmas, de praia, no algarve. a casa fica a 50 m do mar, é fresca, limpa, agradável e funcional. a praia é frequentada por muitas famílias (principalmente) inglesas e é bastante bonita; burgau ainda é umas das (poucas) típicas vilas piscatórias do algarve, com casas na encosta e labirintos de ruas, pátios e ruelas estreitas.. a varanda (pública) em frente ao mar é uma delícia. a noite é calma, mas os bares que existem são apelativos (revelam bom gosto); como alternativa, há sempre o grupo desportivo que dispõe de bilhar, matrecos e ping-pong. fomos dois e adoramos as férias. contamos voltar.

A perfect holiday!

Spent a wonderful week at this apartment in Burgau. Spotlessly clean with super kitchen and bathroom. Perfect location overlooking the sea, one minute walk to the sandy beach for excellent swimming and snorkelling. A good choice of restaurants in Burgau, we loved Biera Mar, just two doors down - beautifully cooked fish. Transfers took just over an hour from Faro so you really feel you are getting away from the over developed areas. Lots of friendly locals and great cliff walks. We took the bus into Lagos and had a morning's sailing with the boat company Bom Dia which was a real treat and a great way to see the beautiful coastline. Would reccomend for couples wanting a relaxing week away from the hustle and bustle of bigger resorts or couples with a little one as the beach would be great for them. Really helpful owners - thanks for a lovely holiday!

Fanastically positioned clean cosy cottage. Ideal for people watching from under the umbrelled table outside yet totally private once inside.Lovely views of the sea which is only a few seconds walk downhill, slightly longer on the way up ! and probably not suitable for the infirm. Great snorkelling but cold sea. Many good restaurants in the village - never had a bad meal. Friendly people both locals and visitors.Loved staying here, didn,t want to come home.

Burgau Fisherman's Cottage

Basically the write-up is accurate. An ideally situated small cottage,clean, well maintauned, with sea views. We enjoyed sitting outside the apartment watching the world go to the beach/slipway less than one hundred metres down the hill. The sound of the sea highlighted this.
The interior of the appartment was well fitted out with a modern toilet/shower. The lounge had two armchairs and was wood panelled. Basically a cool accommodation as the sun was only directly on it for the morning. There was enough room to sunbath in the front until early evening by moving closer to the road.
We would highly recommend the apartment to anyone who wanted a quiet 'Algarve' holiday and being fit enough to manage hills. We also enjoyed the cliff top walks.
