The luxury villa has been tastefully furnished and well equipped and lies near Rethymnon. It includes an open plan kitchen, dining and living area with doors opening to a pergola covered terrace. Steps lead down to the pool, poolside patio and garden. The living area leads to a small inner hall to come to the bathroom and 2 bedrooms. The master bedroom includes fitted wardrobes and has doors opening to the garden. Steps lead directly down to the pool and garden. The other bedroom has been furnished with 2 single beds and also has fitted wardrobes. A family shower room is accessible from the inner hall. The living room and both bedrooms are air-conditioned. Steps from the dining terrace lead to the roof terrace which is bathed in sunshine throughout the day. Views across the surrounding countryside and the sea are even more magnificent from here.

The villa is situated near a traditional Cretean village in the centre of the island of Crete, and near Rethymnon. It is just an hour drive from each of the two main airports, 10 minutes from the nearest supermarket and 10 minutes from a number of unspoilt sandy beaches. Rethymnon, with its interesting old town, Venetian fortress and long sandy beach, is a 20 minute drive away. Visit Arkadi Monastery, the Melidoni Cave, Fodele (the birth place of El Greco), the small but busy resort of Bali, Margarita, the centre of Cretan pottery making, all within a short drive. You can even reach the bustling resort of Agia Galini on the south coast in just an hour.

Wonderful. Villa exactly as described. Immaculate and clean throughout and everything you could need provided for. The owners communicated regularly and were most helpful and friendly. Pretty setting and pool and gardens perfect for relaxation. Regular cleaning and thoughtful welcome pack put in villa on our arrival. Lovely furnishings and all modern facilities. Thoroughly recommend this villa.
Although rural the short walk to the bus is easy and is very easy to taxi back from Rhetymon (approx 12 euros) which has a lovely old quarter with lots of great restaurants/tavernas.We had a fine meal everytime we ate there. Its huge Venetian "Fortessa" is most impressive and is a must to visit. Chania well worth a drive ( approx 1hr) beautiful Venetian harbour. Not so sure about Heraklion which seems very built up. Word of warning find a beach with a cove as the long sandy beaches nearby sometimes had red flags due to the wind ( could be an August thing?) which in itself was welcoming in the heat though! Car hire company recommended by owner excellent use them! Driving is not for the faint hearted though as the Greek drivers are keen on speed even on the smallest of roads. Arkadi Monastry is a must too. Visit Palace of Knossos at Heraklion and use a tour guide well worth the money and they know their stuff! If you have youngsters go to the water park near Chania reasonable cost with good rides and not too busy even in August! Hugely impressed with this property. Our family of four had a great week in the Cretan sunshine.

Great place and all very well furnished. Very clean with most kitchen / living accessories. Only disappointment was the BBQ which was technically a BBQ but practically too small and flimsy to use. If you eat out every night this won't present a problem. The villa appears to be quite new and is showing no sign of wear and tear which is nice.

The pool was very clean and regularly cleaned though privacy around the pool area was lacking to a degree. This will probably get better in time as the trees and shrubs mature.

A car is essential unless you are happy to sit by the pool every day but with some fantastic scenery on the doorstep it would be a shame not to see it!

Access by car to the main towns is easy though it took us a while to get the hang of the one way system in Rethymno. A small but at the time mildly irritating point.

Excellent service from the recommended and locally owned car hire company who were perhaps slightly more expensive (if at all) but well worth it - they couldn't do enough for us. Pick up from airport and drop off was easy too. The cleaning service was also very good, prompt and friendly.

All of the adjacent residents (of which there are not many) were friendly as were most of the local shopkeepers with the exception of one or two stores where the people were at best grumpy and at worst rude. Make sure to count your change as well! No different perhaps to any other area of the world.

Overall a most enjoyable stay in Crete and I would recommend this villa to families with children over 7 years old due to the steps from the pool and no railing around the raised patio area. Our son is 8 and there were no problems at all.

Owner's Response: Indeed, as described in the review, the villa is brand new with a beautiful view of the olive groves and a magnificent sunset.
Personally we have seen to little of the environment but in the future there is hope to enjoy more of it. Also in 2009 we have arranged the same team for the pool maintenance, car rental and cleaning of our house. Our future guests will also be able to use the new big barbecue near the pool and enjoy the Cretian culture and weather.
