About Marilyn Blackburn

I live 25 minutes away and have had so much fun fixing up this cabin and making a pleasant retreat for people! I hope you come and spend a couple days taking in all that Granite Falls and Canyon Falls Cabin have to offer! You will never forget it!

Marilyn Blackburn purchased this cabin in 2011

Why Marilyn Blackburn chose Arlington

Granite Falls is 30 minutes from the big city and yet a world away! One stop light, and the gateway to year round enjoyment, so I knew when I saw this cabin that it was the perfect cabin, on the perfect spot above the river, in the perfect town!

What makes this cabin unique

I love this cabin for several reasons...the most obvious is when you look out the window, the river is rushing right past! It looks and sounds beautiful. The cabin was built in 2000 so it has all the features I want in terms of conveniences, but the setting in the forest invokes the rustic, outdoors feeling that I want.

Great place for solitude with lively, narrow river and mini-falls moving through a gorge...saw some kayakers going down it. Cabin is well appointed, great books and DVD's on hand. Great kitchen to cook in. Only complaint...the squeakiest bed (upstairs) I've ever slept on, but very comfortable...could be embarrassing if other guests are staying downstairs! Thanks for sharing your abode, would come again!

Owner's Response: Thank you for the feedback and I am SO glad you enjoyed yourself! I have never seen the crazy kayakers go down that gorge - it must have been a sight! Will look into why the bed frame is so squeaky!

Hidden Gem

Wow--what a wonderful place to get away to renew and refresh! The cabin was so warm, cozy and comfortable and is well equipped. We took some beautiful hikes nearby just off the Mountain Loop Highway (despite the rain). We loved listening to the rain on the roof and the sound of the rushing creek. What a blessing!!

Tranquility

My husband and I stayed here with our 2 year old son and had an amazing time. The house was stocked with endless firewood and the fireplace did an excellent job of heating the whole house. Our favorite part was the wrap around porch which closes off at two points so we could leave the back door open and know that our son wasn't going anywhere. I loved being able to open doors and windows to hear the river below. My husband wanted to tell you if you ever decide to sell, he's very interested! We will definitely be coming back! We also highly recommend the ice caves nearby.

Cabin on the River just east of Seattle

Wow! Who knew there could be such a beautiful retreat less than an hour from the hustle and bustle of Seattle. Love the creatively decorated cabin located in a canyon amid the tall Douglas fir trees.

Great Cabin

  • 4 of 5

My son, grandson, and I had a great 10 days in this small piece of paradise. The back deck with the river below, so peaceful. We had lots of hiking, all levels, nearby. The fish ladder that is less than a mile away, provided us a bald eagle sighting and we picked lots of black berries.

The only improvement I would recommend is at least one screen door, front, back, or slider. When we opened the place up, it filled with flies.

Owner's Response: Thank you for the suggestion! I'm sorry now that summer is nearly gone that we didn't think of screen doors before but will make sure to add them! I hope you can come back again sometime! Marilyn
