About The Villa Rosa Team

We are a family group that has owned the property since 1325. It entered our family possession as a reward for excellent service at the Battle of Altopascio where Lucca defeated Florence. After Rosina or Rosa passed away a few years ago we thought about what we could do with the property. We saw these non locals coming in and renting properties and thought not only could we do a BETTER job but be more competitive as well. With a family business and customer focused background, totalling over 200 years, we aim to provide the best Tuscany holiday you can experience.

The Villa Rosa Team purchased this villa in 1325

Why The Villa Rosa Team chose Bagni di Lucca

It is easier to explain why we did not go for a property in Bagni di Lucca itself. Before we re-modernised Villa Rosa we looked at investing in Bagni. It didn't offer what we thought was a true Tuscan Village/hamlet experience, that we new our future guests would prefer. Plus the views at the bottom of our valley are quite limited and constrained. So therefore our choice of location and property were ideal because it was close to Bagni but offered so much more in terms of relaxation, enjoyment and amazing upper valleys views. Also by basing ourselves 10 minutes driving up the valley, we gain the cooling effect of our Prato Fiorito, mountain breezes. Come and find out for yourselves.

What makes this villa unique

Villa Rosa has the best of both words for those that want the Villa in the country side but also know its perfectly placed to take advantage of amenities of a village shop and grocery store only 8 minutes walk away. You are also well placed to drive to supermarkets and hypermarkets from 10 to 25 minutes away.It has space for large family groups and is also perfectly suited for the single writer or producer looking for that piece and quite to think things through. We have fitted a fantastic NATO graded wifi. None of this cueing up up at the local tourist office, to keep abreast of whats going on.The villa is open all year round and with central heating throughout the property you will feel warm and snug throughout the winter months. In the summer, our large swimming pool allows guests to cool down and chill-out in the orchard garden. Here they will experience the total piece and relaxation, of the beautiful Northern Tuscany countryside, that is the Lima Valley.

An excellent 5 star location for Tuscany!

  • 5 of 5

We stayed for a week at Villa Rosa in June and had a fabulous time. Our party consisted of myself , wife, 3 children and in laws. First of all I have to thank the Villa Rosa Team in helping us get to the villa. My GPS navigation decided to pack up just past Lucca. A quick call to the team and in 25 minutes, one of them had been dispatched to “escort” us in.I’m sure we would have made it but the fact that they went out of their way to help us meant a lot to me and my family.

We arrived and my tribe decamped to the villa and were shown around the place by the team member. We had bought our supplies at a local hyper market but Villa Rosa had left us a free welcome pack of Wine, diet coke’s and iced tea, that were already in the fridge......what a life saver guys!

Villa Rosa was spotless and well equipped. My teenage daughters loved the Sony ipod sound system and I loved the Sony Flat screen TV....(even though I promised my wife I wouldn’t look at BBC 24 news to keep an eye on the business world).

The kitchen had all the utensils a cook could wish for. But we had decided not to really cook ... after all we were on holiday! We spent our dinners in Bagni di Lucca or at the local trattoria in the village.

We picked Villa Rosa because we were looking for a place to maximize our time in Tuscany. Its only 30 minutes from Lucca and about an hour from Pisa .

We listened to the teams advice and drove to Lucca , parked the car in the safe secure parking area and an hour and half later we were in the centre of Florence. Perfect.

Villa Rosa’s location is hard to fault. All the rooms have fabulous views and the Villa had 2 lovely bathrooms which was appreciated by all.

The pool was large and the garden area around it was well planned with its natural shaded area and sun loungers, all aluminum and very comfortable. With the pool being cleaned twice a week, it was immaculate and the girls loved swimming in the water.

Our week at Villa Rosa finished far to quickly and we spent the evening relaxing on the balcony. Villa Rosa managed to cocoon me at relax me completely. I wish I could go back next week and with any luck we will try and come again for a half term. With the excellent prices they have I can see why they have become very popular, judging by the great comments, left by others in the visitors book.

The whole family loved Villa Rosa and came back home feeling refreshed and relaxed.

Excellent work Villa Rosa!

Owner's Response: We are so glad that you and your family had such a great time. The gps incident is all part of our service, to help people get to Villa Rosa as easy as possible. Having been in that same situation, we were happy to help. The free drinks we provide again help our guests get in the holiday mood quickly and there's nothing like having a refreshing cold drink when you’ve just arrived. The Sony ipod station and tv are the same equipment that we have ourselves and thus we did not hesitate in buying them again when adding them to Villa Rosa. We do pride ourselves on the quality of the pool and its high cleanliness. Thats why its visited by our pool guy and gardener every week. When choosing the sun loungers we looked to what was being used at the higher end beach clubs on the Tuscan Riviera, all aluminum and easy to use. Whenever you and your family want to come back, just let us know, you will be most welcome Many Thanks Villa Rosa Tuscany Team

Week in Beautiful Villa in Quaint Tuscan Village

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I, and two dear friends, spent a lovely week in Villa Rosa and commend the Villa Rosa Team on their beautifully maintained and situated villa in a quaint, quiet Italian village in the Tuscan foothills. The Villa Rosa Team's detailed driving directions from the Pisa Airport to the villa were so helpful, with pictures at every turn! We loved the large master bedroom and bathroom on the entry floor, while our friends had the privacy of the upper floor master bedroom and bathroom. The house was immaculate; the kitchen was nicely stocked with pots, pans, & condiments; the brand-new washing machine was much appreciated; the large veranda deck toward with gorgeous views was "to die for'! We had the good fortune of unseasonably warm weather, with no rain the entire week, so the Villa Rosa Team was kind enough to keep the secluded pool open and we used it several times for both brief swims and basking in the Italian sun. We loved the convenience of the parking area just up a slight hill from the villa for unloading and loading. As to the village, we loved having the two grocery/butcher shops and the quaint little restaurant, especially for their pizza, and enjoyed the Sunday service at the Catholic Church. We met a friendly lady by the name of Dominica who gave us a tour of the village and her home, and sent us off with a jar of her homemade fig jam.

First day, drove into Bagni Lucca, down the winding hill roads to the south, explored this wonderful little town, had lunch, shopped in the shops, stocked up on groceries (since we cooked dinner often in the villa's lovely new kitchen), and enjoyed a nature hike along the river. Second day, drove again into Bagni Lucca, hopped the train to the walled city of Lucca, for eating, shopping for a leather products, and hiking all around the city along the top of the wall. Third day we used the pool and then drove north up the foothills on winding mountain roads, stopping for lunch and exploring the towns along the river. Fourth day, we again drove into Bagni Lucca taking train to Lucca and transferring to Florence, where we spent a wonderful day seeing "The David", the Duomo, wine tasting next to the river and more shopping. Fifth day and partial sixth we spent on a wonderfully picturesque hikes through the countryside, through the villages, vineyards and farmland, and used the pool and deck. THANKS VILLA ROSA TEAM!

An extraorinarily beautiful spot!

  • 5 of 5

If you are looking for real Italy (as opposed to the tourist resort version) then this is for you! We have just spent a wonderful week here and wished we had booked two! The villa's facilities are excellent. The pool is perfectly situated and most welcome, as temperatures regularly reached 30 degrees. There is a lot to do in the area, with Pisa, Lucca, Florence and Bologna (we went to Bologna and the road was windy and slow but Bologna was well worth every bend!)comfortable day trips. Alternatively if you just want to relax, sit/eat on the balcony and marvel at the stunning views or go for walks to soak up the peace and beauty of the area. For those looking a little more adventure, you can climb up to the fortress in Lucchio ( Can you find the older geocache there? We couldn't.) or go a little further down the road to the suspension bridge crossing the Lima River at La Lima (you walk across 35 meters above the river and it's 227 meters long!). Failing that, there is always some festival happening in which you can participate.......or just, drink, music or dancing....all great fun.

I have to rate the Villa Rosa Team as the most helpful I've ever dealt with and I have booked quite a few villas over the last years! My thanks to them for promptly answering any questions I had re shopping and facilities in such a pleasant manner. My last words......a complete gem!

Villa Rosa was a cool and quiet refuge ..

  • 5 of 5

Villa Rosa was a wonderful place. It is located in a small village in the mountains about 15 minutes from Lucca Di Bagni. We were there in mid-July and it was very warm, but the Villa was a cool and quiet refuge after a hot day of sightseeing. The Villa Rosa team was very helpful with any questions we had. They arranged for a driver for us when we wanted to do a winery tour - and for a very reasonable rate. They also arranged a cooking class, which also included a delicious meal.

The Villa itself is very comfortable, with the newly remodeled kitchen and modern bathrooms while still keeping the charm of the old building.

Before arriving we were sent very detailed directions, including pictures, to the Villa, which was very helpful. All other communications and arrangements were very professional and timely.

There was a delightful bar/restaurant a few minutes walk from the Villa. They had good pizzas and the best tiramisu we've ever had.

Note: you will need a car, but it is worth the expense especially if you are looking for a quiet and restful place to stay.

Owner's Response: Ciao Chris. Thank you for posting the great review. Its important when looking for a holiday/vacation rental that all communication is dealt swiftly and clearly. We aim to reply back within 30 minutes of receiving any enquiry. We also offer a free call back service to any land line in the world, at a time to suite you. It’s all part of the excellent customer service that we offer. This is what separates us from other holiday/vacation rentals. We can also book cooking classes and wine tours, with our local Italian Mama and local drivers, that won’t break the bank. In other words we treat our visitors as if we were the visitors, so only the best customer service will do. Every year we have reinvested into the property. This year we fitted a brand new “Made in Italy” kitchen, wIth an efficient oven, fridge freezer, dishwasher and LED lighting. With these new updates, we feel we have struck a good balance and kept the original character of the villa. Our position and closeness to the SS12 road allows quick access to Bagni di Lucca, in around 10 minutes and Lucca train station in around 35 minutes, with connections to Florence and beyond. Pisa Airport is also a short journey time away from Villa Rosa, at just over an hour ten minutes. Your absolutely right, after a day visiting the bigger towns, its always great to get back home, away from the heat and the crowds. Villa Rosa provides the ideal sanctuary. Being 400m above sea level, the natural mountain breezes cool the villa and help to create a refreshing and restful place. If you don’t feel like cooking, our village has an excellent family run restaurant, only an 8 minute walk away. You can also find a butchers and a local food shop. You do need a car to get around but rather than be a hindrance, it allows you to maximise your time in the area. Thanks again for coming to stay and we know that you will be back soon Villa Rosa Tuscany Team

Villa with character in a beautiful location

  • 5 of 5

Thanks to all the Villa Rosa Tuscany team for making our stay at Villa Rosa a very happy one.

Villa Rosa and the village of San Cassiano are in such beautiful location and to stay there was a great experience.

The villa has lots of character and our teanage kids enjoyed the superb pool.

We have holidayed in Italy on a number of occaisions and have stayed in Tuscany previously but never explored north of Lucca.

We visited Lucca, Vinci, Barga, Castelnuovo di Garfagnana, Montecatini Terme for a ride on the funicular and took a 4x4 ride to explore the marble quarry at Carrara. Quite different to our experince of Tuscany further south from Florence.

The owner's recommendations of where to eat were most helpful. We ate at Ristorante Villa Aurora and the food was excellent, ice creams at Fuori dal Centro were delicious, tiramisu from Pasticceria Bini was superb.

We could not fault Villa Rosa and we would this recommend this rental to anyone looking for a great holiday in a very beautiful and peaceful village location.

Exceeded Expectations!

  • 5 of 5

We booked Villa Rosa after reading the great reviews and seeing the beautiful pictures. We were not disappointed! The Villa was exactly as pictured except for the spectacular views! It was post card beautiful! It was difficult to leave even for day trips! We took advantage of the well-stocked kitchen and cooked dinner one night but there were so many great restaurants that we couldn't help but eat out for lunch and dinner every day!

The Villa was very clean and comfortable! I have issues with my back so I need a "good" bed. I was thrilled with the bed as were the other guests in my party. The veranda was beautiful and we ate breakfast outside every day. The mountain air was truly wonderful!

The WiFi was a god send as I had to log into work while vacationing!

The locals were amazing too. They were extremely friendly and made us feel very comfortable every where we went.

The Villa Rosa Team went way above and beyond expectations and made us feel right at home! The directions with photos were excellent as were the many suggestions for places to eat, shop and visit. We went to Bagni di Lucca often as well as Florence and Lucca too! It was a perfect home base!

We whole heartedly recommend this beautiful home for your next Tuscan vacation!
