Great Family Reunion

We were looking for a place to have a family surprise party for my mom. It needed to sleep 17 for two nights and fewer for the rest of the week. So we rented both sides of this duplex (with a little trepidation, as pictures sometimes do not tell the whole story.) To make a long story short, we had a fantastic week.
With the six bedrooms and a pull out sofa bed, we were able to accommodate all 17 of us very comfortably. With the huge deck on the front and the two living rooms and two kitchens we never felt cramped or crowded.
The units themselves were very clean and comfortable, located in a quiet residential area. They were both as well or better stocked with linens, cooking supplies and utensils as any time share or rental property we've stayed at. Each unit had wireless internet and several TVs. Additionally, each unit had a number of books, DVDs and VHS tapes available. There was a washer and dryer on premise as well. There was room for our four cars and we certainly could have squeezed two or three more in if we needed to. The one annoying thing with the layout was that you had to go down the front stairs to get to the pool in the back.
We spent a lot of time in the pool. It was small, but very refreshing, as it was cooler than the ocean. You won't do laps in this pool, but there is enough room to have fun and stay cool. The beautiful gulf beach is at the end of the street - a one or two minute walk. Warm water, nice sand, clean, quiet... perfect.
The property is near the northern tip of Anna Maria Island so it is a little bit away from the commercial activity you see at the center of the island. The Sand Bar restaurant, a favorite of my sister, is only a few minutes walk down the beach.
The people at the rental agency were pleasant and easy to work with. We mentioned a few maintenance items to them before we left, but they were minor and had not affected us during the week.
My only concern with this property would be if I were renting one side of it and someone we didn’t know was renting the other. Since the pool is shared and the decks are so close, you would not have the privacy you might want. But for our situation, or for two families who were vacationing together, this property is perfect!
