Guestbook comments from the owner
We really enjoyed our stay at the house. The view was amazing and we put the fire pit and hot tub to good use! The location was really close to town which was very convenient also. The cabin was very clean, beds comfortable, and had more than enough furniture/towels/kitchen supplies/etc for our group. Hope to stay again next year!

Damage deposit return transaction was very quick.

This cabin is a family cabin where by a father and 2 sons are the owners. We cherish it and hope you do too.

The Owner purchased this cabin in 2005

This cabin is close to the town of Sicamous so you have all the town amenities however you're far enough away that it doesn't feel like you're in the town. Additionally it's in a very quiet sub division with great neighbours who look out for each other.

The cabin has it's own private beach, dock and buoy that's accessed via a small path down to the lake.

Finally, the cabin is a quick 45 minute drive from Revelstoke Mountain Resort so it's now an all season destination. It can be used in summer for boating and winter for skiing/snowboarding.

- Short walk to private beach

- 3 great golf courses within 30 minutes

- Access to both Mara and Shuswap lake

- Private hot tub with an amazing view of the lake

- Nice fire pit area

- Huge deck

- Cabin is well shaded so it's not hot in summer

- Very private location - can't see neighbours on either side, just those below.

Fun & Relaxing

Fun & Relaxing

Our family really enjoyed our stay. The cabin was definitely large enough for all of us, and was equipped with everything and more! Lots of towels, dishes, cutlery, pots, etc. The huge deck, netted gazebo and hot tub provided hours of fun and a ton of relaxation. The cabin isn't lake front, but the views are spectacular and the lake with it's cool breezes was very refreshing in the evening. The walk down to the lake really isn't far. Kind of like a stroll through the woods. Clearing parts of the trail would make access a bit easier. There is a bit of noise from the road behind and the train that comes quite frequently through out the day, but it didn't really bother us. Our grand daughter loves the train! The property was well maintained. Very clean upon arrival. Great fenced area for pets, beautiful deck, fabulous kitchen & bathrooms and the rooms were a good size. It was hot when we were there and found the rooms upstairs to be extremely hot, AC would have been a bonus, but we managed with the fans provided. Some of the window screens were duct taped and the curtains were quite worn, but overall, a nice place. The location of the cabin is great. Minutes from Sicamous, close to Salmon Arm, Kelowna, Revelstoke and much more. All in all we had a really great time!

Owner's Response: Thanks for your comments Lynne. We've never had anyone mention that the bedrooms upstairs get too hot at night so air conditioning is something that we will consider. Thanks for the suggestion!

Summer vacation

This cabin has all the comforts of home in a perfect location with the most amazing view from large deck! Beds are all comfy, satellite dish with all the channels, all appliances are new in good working order. The owners have gone out of their way to ensure cabin is well stocked and comfortable for the renters. Amazing view from the deck and hot tub of all the boats coming through the channel and across the lake. Having access to your own dock and buoy is so convenient for boating and water activities. Highly recommend and will be booking this wonderful cabin again!

Semi-Lakefront on Shuswap

  • 4 of 5
We loved this property. The deck is fantastic with lots of seating, eating areas and a great hot tub - all overlooking the lake. We loved the location - with water access and a dock to tie up our rentals - sea-do and boat.
We dealt with one of the owners who was fantastic, explained everything well and was very accommodating. He sent our damage deposit back pronto.
It's a good location - only a 15 minute walk into the townsite - or ride over by water on boat.

Central location with great views

  • 5 of 5
The home was spotless and had all of the amenities one could need. Fully equipped kitchen, family room with TVs and sound system, full laundry room and many comfortable beds. The hot tub on the deck was a great bonus. Sitting in there during late afternoon watching the boats on the lake was bliss. If you are a golfer, be sure to go to Hyde Mountain which is spectacular and only 5 minutes away. The home is just off HWY 1 so it is a quick access to the town of Sicamous and Salmon Arm. It is a very central location to visit anywhere in the Shuswap area, the Okanaghan or even Revelstoke. Or, you can just relax on the deck and enjoy a camp fire in the evening. We are already planny next year's visit.

AMAZING VIEW

  • 4 of 5
Great place to stay for a getaway. The view is beautiful, I could sit on the deck for hours and watch the boats go by and enjoy the sunshine. The walk to the lake is a little steep but nothing a walking stick won't fix. It's a great place for family and friends to stay, there were 6 adults and a 10 month old baby in our party and we all loved having the place that housed all of us. It was easy to make meals, relax and soak in the hot tub or enjoy a drink in the evening while we watched the sun go down. We're inspired to visit again! It's close to town, we were able to check out Crannog Ales Microbrewery (about 20-25 min. away), visit a winery, took in a round of mini golf, partake in a great meal at Table 24 in Salmon Arm and the most important a walk on the beach, the lake is so shallow we were able to walk a ways out.

In dealing with the Ron & Derek, they were nothing but courteous and transparent on expectations. It was lovely communicating with them, we didn't encounter any problems and received our deposit back within 3 days. THANK YOU, we had a great time!

Lovely view but extremely noisy

  • 2 of 5
While we enjoyed our stay at the Shuswap and the cabin does indeed have a lovely deck & view, I would NOT recommend this cabin if you are looking for a quiet lake experience. The cabin is next to the highway with heavy transport trucks and the constant drone of vehicles. Worse, trains run in front of the cabin constantly and often stop for extended periods of time. This can result in members of your party on one side of the train (lakeside) and others stranded on the other side. Not ideal for young children. Sleeping is difficult due to the traffic and train noise.
While the cabin is close to the town of Sycamous and other nearby attractions (hiking, zip lines, etc.), access to the lake involves a bit of a walk down a steep embankment (not recommended for the elderly). The dock was not accessible due to recent flooding (unavoidable by the owner but he/she failed to tell us prior to our arrival). Further, we were not informed that we would be required to use bottled water only due to a recent health advisory. While free bottled water was provided, it was a huge inconvenience!
Overall, the cabin was clean but towels and sheets were old and worn and not what I would expect for the price charged.
The owner was not helpful in addressing any of our concerns. I would never recommend this property to anyone.

Owner's Response: It’s noisy - While it's true that there's a train track down below and a highway on the other side of the cabin, the amount of noise that is generated is being greatly exaggerated. We have been renting this cabin out for 3 years now and this is the first person to ever complain about the noise. Train tracks down below - It's a SEMI lake front cabin and yes a train does comes by about once every hour to an hour and a half. While it does provide noise for about 2 minutes I wouldn’t say it ruins a “quiet cabin experience”. The comment about kids being stranded on the other side of a train is definitely strange – I’m not sure what kind of parent would allow their young kids to run across train tracks without them? Unusable dock – My family still doesn’t understand this complaint. I was out there the week prior and I was using the dock the entire time. All 4 groups that have been out since Michele’s group left have been using the dock. I’m not sure what the problem was? Water undrinkable – Sicamous experienced a once in 50 year flood that made national headlines. We were under the assumption that most guests coming to the cabin would have known about this. In fact, every guest except Michele knew about it and asked what the impact would be. I guess it was a bad assumption on our part to think she would have researched how this flood would affect her vacation. Towels and linens were old and worn – This is an odd comment considering we bought 20 brand new towels in May and our bed sheets are new as of May 2011. I'm not sure what she was expecting As an aside I would note that this is the worst guest we have had in 3 years of renting. The party not only left the cabin 30 minutes late but also left it the dirtiest that our cleaners have ever seen it. It took the cleaners 4 full hours to clean and as such they were not ready for the next group (A typical cleaning is maybe 2 hours). We were charged an extra cleaning fee which would normally be taken out of the deposit but we waived it for this guest because of her complaints. Apparently that cleaning credit was not enough so Michele demanded an additional 25% refund which we denied. The next day this review popped up on our property. . I guess she expected a 25% refund on top of us waiving the cleaning fee and when she didn’t get it she came to our listing to leave a bad review.
