We really like the Inner Richmond for its public transportation access to anywhere in the city and beyond. It is safe, quiet and friendly, with many families. Our building is very convenient to shopping, dining and of course Golden Gate Park, a true national treasure.
You will love Golden Gate Park and all it has to offer. The symphony hall and opera house are a short bus or taxi ride away. Want to ride a Segway in the park? Ride horses on the beach? Rent bicycles or skates? Try sailboarding or ocean kayaking or surfing? Attend concerts or visit museums? Walk on the Golden Gate Bridge? It's all close by and available to you.
Excellent location. Two bus lines very close.
Clean and well maintained.
Owner (Jim) extremely helpful. Took us to airport!!
Would recommend to all.
great place definitely recommended. owners are very nice and live on the building witch makes easier for any question you may have it.
This was our first experience booking accommodations through VRBO. Our unit was up one flight facing the street. The apartment was flooded with light from the setting sun and we could see the top of the Golden Gate Bridge from our bay window. The interior was clearly original construction (as opposed to having been gutted and remodeled) which gave it an authentic old San Francisco charm. The kitchen also was clearly original construction, but was well equipped with all the necessary cooking utensils for us to prepare meals. Although there was moderately heavy traffic on the street out front, the apartment was quiet and comfortable in the evenings.
The property is an easy one-block walk to the Muni transit stops. We purchased a 7-day Muni pass from the Information booth located in Baggage Claim at San Francisco International airport; the pass is good for all public transportation (except BART) and includes included the famed San Francisco Cable Cars. We had rented a car but ended up using it only once during our week stay; the Muni took us everywhere we needed to go in the city and it was fun to ride all the different modes of public transportation. Street parking is exceedingly difficult to find so we suggest that if you are planning on staying within the city during your visit, ditch the expense of a rental car and take a shuttle or cab to this property and use the Muni to get around the city.
There are good restaurants located within two blocks of the property on Balboa. We ate one night at the Emperor Chinese food restaurant; excellent food at a very low price. However, a Safeway store is located just around the corner from the property so we prepared most of our meals in the apartment and saved money on eating out.
The entrance to Golden Gate Park is located one block to the south. The park is huge, however, the California Academy of Sciences and the de Young Museum are just inside this entrance which made visiting both attractions a mere three block walk from the apartment.
Our hosts were extremely accommodating and made every effort to see to our comfort.
One block walk to Muni public transportation which was extremely easy to use.
One block walk to groceries (Safeway), all necessary utensils to prepare food at home.
Short walk to Golden Gate Park science and art museums.
Free Wi-Fi access.
Comfortable and quiet bedroom.
Friendly and accommodating hosts.
Street parking is difficult to find – however, garage access can be rented.
This is a fantastic place to stay in the Inner Richmond district of San Francisco. The photos and written description accurately reflect this spotlessly clean, cheerfully painted and decorated apartment. My teenaged daughter and I stayed here for a week, the owners are super helpful, happy to suggest places to eat or answer any questions about San Francisco. It's easy to travel around the city by bus or street car from the apartment and Golden Gate park, with it's many attractions and museums, is practically next door. An added bonus is the Safeway right around the corner for prepared food and groceries. I would absolutely recommend this apartment and hope to stay here again on our next trip to San Francisco!
