About The Owner

We are 40/50 year old couple who love to travel, cook and spend time with friends and family. We also enjoy hiking, biking and volunteering.

The Owner purchased this cottage in 2010
Why The Owner chose Niagara-on-the-Lake

Niagara-on-the-Lake has always been a special place for us. Every time we came to stay it seemed that Life naturally began to slow down. You feel this as soon as you arrive and it gives you a chance to appreciate what life has to offer and to finally 'smell the roses'. There are so many unique and wonderful places to see in the Niagara area including live theatre, wineries, music festivals, historic forts, museums, shopping and the most amazing display of flowers in a town center we have ever seen. We are also located on the horse and carriage route. Beautiful Horses pulling fancy carriages and their guests can be seen all through the day and evening as they stroll past our front door. It's simply magical to see and hear them....

We have always wanted to live in NIagara-on-the-Lake and in 2010 that dream came true.

What makes this cottage unique

Regent House is literally a 30 second walk to Queen Street which is the center of Historic Niagara-on-the-Lake. We are also a 2 minute walk to all three of the Shaw Theatre venues. Within a 20 minute drive there are over 28 excellent wineries to choose from. There are also many fabulous restaurants within walking distance or a short drive.

If you like biking, hiking or running there are many trails and pathways that offer breathtaking scenery. A couple that we really enjoy are the Niagara Parkway and the Bruce Trail. The Niagara Parkway is a paved path that you can walk, cycle, roller blade or run on which follows the Niagara River from Niagara-on-the-Lake to Niagara Falls and all the way to Fort Erie. Along the way you pass historic monuments, parks, a butterfly conservatory and of course the Falls. The Bruce Trail is a UNESCO designated area 700km long that has so many beautiful waterfalls, wildlife and scenery. It's our goal to hike the entire length at some point.

We were a party of six who travelled from Scotland to attend a family wedding in Niagara on the Lake. We were met on arrival by Paul & Melissa who gave a tour of the house. They advised and recommended local sights, restaurants and pubs. The house met all our requirements and was very comfortable and user friendly. All appliances were easy to operate and extensive instructions were available. The location of the house was central and within easy walking distance of most of the town. Local restaurants (our favourite was Zees) were all very good and the bars made us all very welcome. I would have no hesitation in returning to Regent House if we revisit Niagara on the Lake.

Beautiful property - wonderful weekend

regent house is not only beautiful, it is very comfortable and spacious. Our family stayed here to attend a wedding, As other reviews have noted it is unique - five bedrooms, very nice ensuites in each. A large living room plus a large family room. Well equipped kitchen. dining room to seat a large group . Washer and dryer. Wireless worked well. We were able to walk easily to shops, restaurants, etc. The house was spotless and extraordinarily well maintained. we have already booked it again - but for a week this time. The owner was very helpful and we thank him for shovelling out spots for four cars the day we arrived in the middle of a huge snow storm.

For the second time, we rented this wonderful property. It is immaculate, well supplied, and very well maintained. The photos, in many ways, cannot do the property justice as the rooms are spacious and the lighting and floor plan work very well. It is rare to find bedrooms where each one has its own ensuite bathroom, plus there is an additional bath that has a washer and dryer. The kitchen is well-equipped and lends itself easily to preparing and enjoying meals together. We rented in the winter, but it looks as though it would also be fabulous in the summer as the garden looked lovely.

Five couples spent New Years weekend at Regent House and it could not have been lovlier. From the luxurious bedrooms, linens and en suites, excellent common areas and proximity to downtown there is no more to ask for here. The house is fully equiped right down to wine charms for the glasses! The owners were so accomodating to our needs and questions, and they obviously have pride in their home. We would recommend Regent House to anyone and hope to spend many more nights there.

I can't say enough about this property - we are 5 couples that have been coming to NOTL for years - we all agree - this is our favorite property! The home is beautiful, comfortable, spotlessly clean and well maintained. The owners were pleasant and so easy to work with. The location is perfect, just a short walk to town. There is no doubt we will be returning!
