Overview

Carmel Studio Rental Photos and Description

Studio (Sleeps 2 max)

Totally private - a cozy hideaway for two people in a separate building. No one above, below or next to you. However, your host is nearby - 'invisible but available'.

Calendar updated daily; all inquiries answered promptly. We welcome you personally and provide a quick overview of Carmel and the peninsula.

Booking only on the vrbo site; if you want to reserve just make a booking request. Or, if you're not sure and have questions, just call.

COTTAGE AMENITIES:

An immaculate, compact and exceptionally well designed space - just 200 sf (basically a bedroom, mini kitchenette and bath) and very efficiently arranged. All brand new as of 11/1/2013.

There is a fridge, microwave, toaster and coffee maker. No cooking but we do provide cutlery, glasses, mugs, etc. for take out or leftovers. Complimentary snacks, coffee, water, juices, wine, yogurt etc.

New marble bathroom with walk in shower. Plush linens. Stocked with toiletries in case you forget something plus an iron & hairdryer & lighted make up mirror. You could really just arrive with your clothes and a toothbrush (though we have that too).

One luggage rack at foot of bed; if you have large luggage we can store it for you. There is a hanging closet plus several empty shelves.

Flat screen TV with Comcast cable with more channels than you'll have time for.

Excellent, High speed Wi-Fi.

Queen bed, memory foam mattress. Good reading lights.

Private gated/fenced patio with bistro set - surrounded by open space, trees, birds and various other critters.

Smoking allowed outside on the patio only.

This is an unusually large property for Carmel - enclosed by a tall stucco wall. So in addition to the privacy you have lots of open space around you.

Pet Policy: We welcome one dog. Two if really small. Pet fee is $10/night per dog - not included in the rental charge but paid in cash on arrival (keeps the option open and avoids tax). We even have a place to wash your pooch after visiting the beach.

Please check availability before inquiring. Please note that our usual minimum is two nights but holiday periods require a minimum of three nights at the weekend rate. Maximum stay: one week (it's too small for a long stay unless it's a single person).

Payment Details:

NO cleaning fee. Our rental agreement asks only that when leaving that you put your trash in the outside barrels and leave any permanent cups/glasses you used on the counter.

Ideal location - west of 'Highway' 1 in Carmel. Six tenths of a mile from village center (15-20 minute walk along a wooded path) with easy access to Highway 1 and all the local attractions. Just minutes from Monterey and Pacific Grove.

Cancellation Policy: At least thirty days full refund. If within thirty days 50%. However, we will credit the retained deposit towards a future reservation (once).

COTTAGE LOCATION DETAILS:

Parking right in front - no steps or stairs. Paved walkway with motion lights at night.

Easy access to highway 1 as well as to the village. Public transportation is a few steps away.

In a quiet, residential neighborhood about a half mile from downtown Carmel (10-15 minute walk on a path though a park). You can often hear the ocean at night.

Big Sur is only 26 miles south of us. Monterey's famous aquarium is about 10 minutes drive.

We are long time Carmel residents who can share a wealth of information with you - much of it that you won't find in the guide books.

Treat your dog to a romp on Carmel's famous beach. This town is very dog friendly.

If the cottage isn't booked immediately before or after your stay we will gladly invite you to arrive early or stay later on the days you check in and out. Officially it's 3PM check in and 11AM checkout but we call you as soon as it's ready.

Note that we don't charge a cleaning fee - that saves you a lot so we figure you can put your trash in the barrels. We'll handle the rest.

About Sylvia Savage

Long time Carmel residents -more than fifty years between us. One retired art gallery owner and one retired custom home builder. So we travel...this picture was taken in January 2014 in Todos Santos, Mexico on the southern tip of the Baja Peninsula.

Sylvia Savage purchased this studio in 2009

Lovely Carmel Cottage

  • 5 of 5

We had a great visit to Carmel and really enjoyed staying in Sylvia and Tim's lovely cottage. It is in a great location just far enough away from the tourist activity to be peaceful and near enough to walk to town and all the restaurants and shops. Sylvia and Tim provided us with treats, wine and all the comforts of home. Our dog Rosie also enjoyed staying there and was really happy to be able to go to the beach 3 days in a row! Thank you for making our trip so nice.

Cheers,

Karen and Paul

Wonderful stay

  • of 5

My daughter and I came to Carmel to get away for a couple of days. Property Owners were friendly, welcoming, and very respectful of our privacy. Studio was clean and quiet, just what I was hoping it would be. Lovely neighborhood and walking path into town.

Owner's Response: Elena and Zoe, it was so lovely to see a mother/daughter getaway. More people should do what you did! It was a pleasure to help make your stay a good one. Thanks so much for taking the time to post a review. Sylvia and Tim

A Wonderful Getaway Spot!

  • of 5

Silvia and Tim's cottage is like a home away from home. It's incredibly peaceful, comfortable and private. Silvia and Tim a gracious hosts who are available for anything you need, but are also respectful of your privacy. The cottage is also very close to downtown Carmel, the beach, and many hikes. I would definitely recommend it over a hotel and for couples of all ages.

Perfect little get away!

This place was perfect! Cozy for a couple with everything you need plus the privacy of not staying at a hotel and for almost the same price! Sylvia and Tim were amazing! They were very helpful but never intruded on our space. I would definitely recommend to friends and family

Owner's Response: Yes, many advantages vs a hotel. Thanks for that comment. Many have told us that they much prefer the uniqueness, privacy etc. of a vacation rental. Glad you enjoyed it. Sylvia and Tim

Cozy and thoughtfully sweet

  • 5 of 5

The place: Our stay in Carmel was a gift from our kids who know that Carmel by the Sea is one of our favorite places to travel to. We really can't add much more to what has already been said about our accommodations. It is exactly as described and had many extra thoughtful amenities that were a pleasant surprise. What also made it extra special was being able to travel with our canine companion, Charlie.

We are both in our 60's and the pleasant walk to downtown through neighborhoods and parks was not a challenge. We were met by our gracious host, Syvlia, who was a wealth of information.

The area: Aside from all the galleries and restaurants that can be found in Carmel proper the surrounding area has lots to offer. Although, we stayed during 3 of the stormiest days of the year, we still had a great Carmel experience. You can't beat the "feel" that this area has to offer. Like Santa Fe and other special places throughout the world, there is a certain light that is unique to Carmel that is an inspiration for so many artists and persons that wish to soak it up. This can also be said of the designs of the homes. Holy cow. You have to see them to truly understand.

This rental is a great base from which to see so many of the sites that this area has to offer. It is a short drive north to 17 Mile Drive and Monterey with Cannery Row and the aquarium. Another short drive south offers Point Lobos State Reserve, an amazing place to hike through magical trees, watch whales breaching in the ocean, Sea Lions on the beach and awesome views where the ocean meets the rocky shoreline. We drove to Big Sur on the stormiest day and were able to experience seeing the waves crashing against the coastline. We were thrilled to have had this unique experience.

I would certainly recommend staying at this property and would not hesitate to return.

Owner's Response: You are champions for having a great attitude! Yes, three stormy days and lots of wind and rain. Very unusual. But it didn't stop you! So glad you found the studio cozy and Carmel charming. We enjoyed having you and Charlie here. This is such a dog friendly town! And you're right - there is such an abundance of natural beauty that even the weather can't diminish. Many thanks for the comprehensive review. Sylvia and Tim
