About Patricia Akins

Ward & I (Patricia) have been retired for several years.Ward is an avid skier and I have a great woodworking shop but we also have 3 horses and a mule and try to spend as much time as possible on horseback.

Patricia Akins purchased this cabin in 1998

Why Patricia Akins chose Cody

Ward , in his working life, was a corporate pilot and visited Cody many times during his career. He loved this area so much that you told himself that he would retire here.

I visited Cody in 1981 with my son and also fell in love with this area. We met in Atlanta many years and married.

What makes this cabin unique

One of the best things about waking in the morning is the beautiful view. The creek runs between our cabin and YOURS and it sounds so wonderful when you get ready for sleep. We have 81 acres and enjoy having our horses at our home.

Closest thing to home

We stayed 5 days at the very clean Bunkhouse while we visited Yellowstone. After we talked with Ward we decided to spend a day in Cody as well. Our stay was perfect. Ward suggested a horse trail ride at a ranch down the road for our daughter that loves horses. We had an amazing two hour ride. The mountain stream running next to the Bunkhouse is picturesque and makes the evening fire pit most enjoyable. What you don't see in the description and pictures are the surprise amenities that our hosts included in the Bunkhouse, ex. a rechargeable LED flashlight by the door to grab when you need to make a quick trip to your car in the dark (and it doubles as a nightlight), and even though there is a gas grill to use we preferred the grill over the fire pit for cooking. We highly recommend the Bunkhouse.

Beautiful views

Very Kind and friendly hosts with a lots of helpful information on sight seeing . Very clean, cozy new cabin decorated in western style. The cabin and the kitchen was very well stocked with every thing you may need. High quality towels and bedding material.A creek was running next to the cabin which made it very pleasant in the afternoon when you opened the window or sit outside. The Mountain views in Early Morning and late afternoon were stunning. It takes about 40 minuets to get to the Yellow Stone East Enterance and 20 minuets to get t o Cody.

Excellent Vacation Retreat

  • 5 of 5

We spent 5 wonderful days at the Bunkhouse as we explored Yellowstone and the Cody, Wyoming area and we couldn't have picked a better place to stay for our family! Located halfway between Cody and the East Gate to Yellowstone, it was perfect. Ward and Patricia are excellent hosts and gave us many suggestions as to "must see" places for our family to take in.

The mountain stream running through the property was the perfect playground for our two boys as they were in there making little rock dams as often as they could be. Buck and Jake were like a little piece of home, too, as we have two dogs and our boys liked playing with them.

The Bunkhouse has everything you could possibly need in it. We couldn't have picked a better place and hope to come back again!

Fantastic Place to Stay!

  • 5 of 5

We spent 3 nights at the quaint and cozy bunkhouse. Located between Cody, Wyoming and the East Entrance of Yellowstone, the Bunkhouse was perfectly located for visiting all the great sights in the area. The bunkhouse was also perfectly suited for our needs. Everything was neat, tidy and well cared for. Our hosts were great and helped out with anything we needed, including a use of their fire pit for a hot dog roast. Our kids loved playing with their dogs and petting the horses. We would love to return to this property every year and hope to. We recommend this location.
