We stayed for a week and wished we could continue! Loved walking to end of street for golf, finding bike path along river and relaxing on the porch with the horse and carriage passing. We hope return. Thank you for suck a lovely, well equipped and welcoming home!!
-a perfect location to relax and write
-great front porch is especially attractive for people watching and reading
We were a group of three couples. The cottage was well laid out, lots of room and space to move about with six adults. Having the kitchen amenities such as coffee, tea, sugar, salt, pepper, paper towel, toilet paper and all cooking utensils and cookware made it very convenient. The location is superb, one block from the main attractions. We always go to the "Irish Harp" on our first night and being able to walk to and from is so convenient.
The only thing that could be improved on would be having a bathroom for the third bedroom, but two couple sharing the same bathroom is not that bad. All in all the stay at the Captain's Quarters was very relaxing, comfortable and cozy. We will definitely be looking up this property again for next year. Thank you for everything!
the house was perfect for our 3 day stay. the proximity to the center of town allowed us to stroll in and out of the house without worrying about parking or even leaving the kids behind. the house was well equipped and very comfortable. grilling was awesome!
proximity to the vineyards was also very good, day trips to niagara falls, local wineries was easily done from this location.
property was clean, comfortable beds, having washer and dryer all made for having all the amenities of home!
Our son was married recently in Niagara-on-the-Lake. When investigating prices we found that we could stay at Captain's Quarters for three nights for the same price as staying for two nights/two rooms at a local upscale hotel. We did not regret our choice. We had three comfortable bedrooms, a very large living room with two gathering places, a dining room, updated kitchen, BBQ area out back and an amazing front porch. The house is located within walking distance to a golf course and is one block from the main street with its beautiful little shops. For us, we had a great base. The guys came back after golf and used the gas BBQ, the groomsmen had plenty of room to change and get ready for the wedding, the porch was a great backdrop for photos and we could invite people over for drinks in the evening or breakfast on the day after the ceremony. The house was well-maintained and well-appointed and felt just like home. The management was very helpful in explaining details of the house, had local information ready and was there to help at a moment's notice. We forgot several items at the house and again they were most helpful in getting them back to us. NOTL is a lovely little village so while there you can visit Fort George, take in a play at the Shaw Theatre, visit the Trish Romance studio, sit on the grass and watch the water, or visit wineries and the many excellent restaurants. We absolutely loved Captain's Quarters and would highly recommend it.
Clip Clop! Clip Clop! We enjoyed the passing of the horse and carriage tours from our private porch. The surrounding houses were beautiful to look at and it was relaxing to sit on on the porch. We were three couples who enjoyed the house immensely. Three separate bedrooms all with comfortable beds, and two washrooms. It was so close to everything that we could pop out to the grocery store to make a lovely bbq meal, or breakfast, or walk to restaurants at the main street only half a block away! In the other direction we enjoyed walks along the lake and around town to see all the lovely gardens. It was just perfect for our needs.
Have just come back from the most wonderful Easter Vacation in Niagara by the Lake. We were greeted with great warmth by the owner who had arranged lots of little extra treats for us and our children. The photo's and description really did not do justice to just how wonderful this holiday cottage is. Top rate facilities through out. The bathrooms really were heavenly. Lots of fluffy white towels and delicious smelling toiletries. A true warm and cosy feeling in the bedrooms and living areas. Top of the range equipment in the kitchen and utility areas. Nice area in the back garden BUT we enjoy people watching and the super wide veranda was fabulous to sit out on in the afternoons and evenings and enjoy a drink. This veranda would also be fabulous in the summer when you would want some shade to sit in. We will definitely be recommending this property to friends.
Lots of very close attractions to walk to from this property e.g. Fort George, Fort Mississauga, a golf course and swing set/pool for the kids. The historic shopping centre is only a block away with some top quality shops and restaurants. Restaurants we would recommend are Zee's, Red Rooster and the Pillar and Post. Whilst Willow cakes and pastries do the most delicious pastry and bread items.Cheese Secrets was great for those nibbles with a glass of wine in the evening. Having been given a delicious bag of coffee from Balzac the coffee shop, we also visited there to take some coffee home with us for friends. Very friendly prompt service from the ladies in this shop.
In all we cannot sing the praises enough of this holiday cottage and the owners they really helped set the tone for our whole holiday.
