Our first visit to Estes Park was on our honeymoon in the summer of 1965. We had been returning every year with dreams of owning our own property. Dreams eventually became reality in 1994 when we came upon the perfect home in the perfect location, situated right on the Big Thompson River. We love sitting on our deck, listening to the roaring river, and watching the birds and wildlife that come our way. It has been especially satisfying to decorate and furnish our home in decor reflective of the area.
We are happy to share our home with others who enjoy the type of getaway our place provides.
The Owner purchased this house in 1994
My sister boyfriend and I enjoyed spending time at this property this past weekend. There are so many positive things about this property I hardly know where to start. To begin with the website certainly does not do this property justice. Honestly, you have to see it up close and personal. It was stocked with everything we wanted or needed. Our french toast cooked perfectly on the griddle provided by the owner. Seriously, the kitchen was stocked with so many items. Plenty of DRY firewood in the garage. Nice linens throughout. The beds were very comfortable. Even though the living room was beautiful and welcoming, we spent most to our time at the dining room table, playing games and enjoying the beautiful view. We got an unexpected visit from 9 wild turkeys as they were passing by. We saw 3 elk by the road. The three of us felt like we were in a mountain paradise. I am already planning our next visit which will be very soon I'm sure.
This beautifully furnished home is exactly as shown in the photos and described in the listing and was very comfortable for our 3 generation family of 6 adults and 3 small children. The bedrooms are all spacious, and the dining area seats 6 at the table with an additional 5 barstools at the large granite-topped island, a gathering spot for us. There were games and puzzles provided for the little ones. We enjoyed the deck with its view of the river below and the relaxing sound of the flowing water, and yes, watching the hummingbirds. The nearby playground was a great spot for burning off some energy for the kids, and a game of horseshoes for the parents. During our short stay of 3 nights, we managed to take the easy walk around Bear Lake in RMNP, go horseback riding, ride the aerial tram, let the little 'rock hounds' shop in town for pretty rocks, and some in the group rode the tall slides and go-karts. The view from the tram was awesome. Exiting the tram at the top of the mountain we bought peanuts to feed the tame chipmunks scurrying all over. So the grandchildren made some wonderful memories and the grown-ups had a relaxing time. This house was a wonderful home base for us, and we'll likely return some day!
I am truly surprised this place doesn't have more reviews. I stayed here with my husband, two kids (ages 7&9) and grandparents, and we all had a marvelous time. The house is huge and beautifully furnished. The location is perfect; 15 minute drive to RMNP, 10 minute or less into the town of Estes, and the river right off your deck. . The kitchen is well-equipped with everything you could need to make a great meal, and we cooked a lot. The barbecue and picnic area on the deck are great for grilling fresh-caught fish from the Big Thompson. One of the best parts of our trip was filling the hummingbird feeders and sitting on the deck watching the crazy birds dart back and forth between them. That and having grandpa teach the kids to fish. Oh, and we also saw a bear! (small and just passing through). The owner is a great communicator and called me on my cell phone while we were there to let us know about the bear sighting. Overall, a wonderful home to get away from it all, enjoy nature and make sure everyone has their own space. Highly recommended.
