THE GOOD NEWS - LOTS OF WATER IN THE LAKE! (No bad news.) Hi. My home on Clear Lake in the town of Lucerne is quite a comfortable, private spot for a vacation. Activities while at the house include fishing, boating, water skiing, birding, swimming, wading, and mostly, for me anyway, relaxing!
The house built in 2001, sits beside Clear Lake with a swim/boat dock off the sea wall but also has a great, private beach where jet skis can be launched. The home consists of three stories. The ground floor is a bedroom with a queen bed and bath (including front loading washer/dryer). This room has screened French doors that open onto the deck (very romantic). Take the outdoor stairs to the second floor which consists of a kitchen, living room, dining area, TV area, den with a double bed futon, and main bath. The kitchen has all the appliances I think you could want plus plenty of crockery and pots and pans. The third floor is a large master bedroom loft with a King Bed, sitting area, and bath. Linens are provided.
All rooms have great views of the lake! Looking to the west from the main floor, you will be awestruck by the 180 degree view of the lake through the wall of sliding glass doors. Along with a great view on the other side of the sliding doors is an outdoor screened deck. What a wonderful spot to sit from morning into the night (the sunsets are to die for.) Similar to a cabin, the entire interior has natural pine paneling – the clean scent when you first walk in the front door is very inviting.
The entire property is fenced adding to privacy and security. There is quite a bit of parking within the fence (room for a boat on a trailer plus cars) with additional parking on the street. There is plenty of outdoor seating (chairs, lounges, and table) and a large, gas Weber BBQ is awaiting your culinary whim.
And if you are bringing a dog, the “critter corner” just inside the front door, provides dog bowls, cookies, dog beds, first aid kit, towels, exercise pens, and crates. The property is fenced quite securely for medium small to large dogs as long as they don’t jump over the sea wall for a swim in the lake (so far nobody has). Clear Lake during some years does get algea and weed growth toward the end of the summer (August). The spring months and early summer is absolutely gorgeous.
I hope you will choose to stay at my home. Many previous vacationers have said that my place is the best vacation rental they have ever stayed at in the Clear Lake area! If you have any questions, please call.

Finally retired! Yea! I love gardening at my home in Santa Rosa and traveling with my trailer and 2 dogs. A few years ago that would have been 3 dogs and a cat but trying to slow things down a bit now. Part of the year, I enjoy coming up to the Lucerne house and just relaxing. What a great house! I love to have friends and their dogs come visit and I especially like it when there is snow on the foothills. I guess a little like Switzerland.
Julee purchased this house in 2004
I chose the location because it is near where I live in Santa Rosa and I have friends that live in the Clear Lake area. It is such a beautiful location and so easy to get to. From my house to Lucerne, once I get on 101 there are no more stop signs. I just pull up into my drive way. Talk about relaxing!
Over the years that I have owned this house, I've discovered birds. Now I know about Grebes (they are the guys that pair up and run on the water). I have seen them do it multiple times right in front of the house. Herons and egrets hang out all the time on the swim dock. But probably the most exiciting was standing at the up stairs bedroom window and watching two Bald Eagles fly by. Yikes! That was exciting!
We loved your house. The new oven worked great. We had all our meals on the screened deck and many hours of playing cards in the evening. No mosquitos! What a treat. The beds were wonderful and the pillows soft. My husband and I sat outside with all the lights off and watched shooting stars. Our dog's nose did not stop sniffing. We're off to ski then back to foggy San Francisco.
Celebrated a 35th birthday here with a small group of friends and a couple of dogs. The sunset view, beautiful warm water, dockside fishing, and cozy home was exactly what we expected and more! This is a fantastic spot to go for any occasion. Easy to get to, fun places to see from Nice to Lucerne, and overall just an excellent place to relax and have some lake fun. I'd recommend it to anyone. Thanks Julee!
When looking for a vacation home to rent, we wanted to make sure it worked for our whole family. With three children under the age of 8, this house was perfect. With the private beach next door and the great swim dock, my husband and I felt so comfortable to let them play while still being able to keep our eye on them. The house provided all we needed and was very clean and cozy.
Of particular note for my wife and I since we suffer from various allergies was the fact that the house was very clean and organized. No guessing about which switches turn off/on various items. I know this is a small thing but it proved very helpful. Also there were neat notations on the various cabinets indicating what was inside. As retirees we have come to appreciate the smaller things that make us more comfortable.
Since it was only my wife and I we used the Kingsize bed upstairs which was very comfortable. Bedroom was roomy and good for just relaxing and reading at the desk or in the provided chairs.
The owner's instructions for gaining access to the home were accurate and easy to follow. The owner provided useful information and was very responsive to my questions about the lake level since we were looking forward to fishing from the dock.
We will definitely be returning in the future when the lake level rises and we can catch some fish!
Our family had the most incredible time here. Our dogs were so happy running and playing. There were 5 of us and we were able to spread out and really relax. We grilled out every night. The private beach access was awesome! We could walk the beach any time we wanted. We spent a lot of time sitting on the dock, fishing, swimming and laughing. Rooms are nicely furnished. It is so homey. The doggie corner with treats, bowls, etc was so thoughtful. Kitchen was small but had everything we needed. Loved the deck too. I am happy to say I caught a 9 lb large mouth bass right off of the dock! I enjoyed sitting on the screened porch every morning with my book and coffee. We look forward to returning here every year. It is truly a home away from home. The sunsets are just incredible. I am a photographer and had so much fun taking pictures here.
Once again we traveled a few hours from the Sacramento valley to this oasis on Clear Lake for our Mom's 86th birthday celebration. It has become a tradition...one we love! We enjoyed the beautiful sunsets, playing cards, doing a jigsaw puzzle, great meals, and especially the Lake views that can be seen from every room on each of the tri-levels (well, except from the 3 bathrooms)! The kitchen always has everything we need...this time a pie dish.
Our pooch loved the treats, toys and large fenced yard and we enjoyed lazy sunny afternoons on the swimming deck. A huge plus was the full moon which reflected off the lake and lit up the mountains...just gorgeous. We'll be back for Mom's 87th! Thank you, Julee!
This was our second time here this year. As usual found the home clean and ready to enjoy. Caught some big catfish and enjoyed the weather. We always have a great time at this house and we will return again. Thanks Julee
THINGS TO DO: Lucerne has many amenities including art galleries (local artists and craft people), and a beautiful, new public park. Spring brings farmers’ markets through out the Clear Lake area. There are many award winning wineries to visit around the lake. Great hiking can be had at Cache Creek, Clear Lake State Park, and Mt. Konocti (volcano that formed the lake). The Redbud Society conducts public bird walks every Saturday morning at the Rodman Sough. Clear Lake State Park besides nice for walks is great for birding (Osprey nest in the parking lot). One day I saw a River Otter walking across the park road no more than 20’ from the car. Many people kayak on the lake. And there are businesses that rent boats for use on the lake. Brochures describing many local activities and local businesses are at the house for you to peruse hopefully, finding just the right activity.
