McKenzie River Lodge Rental Photos and Description

5 bedroom, 3 bath when rented with apartment (rented separately).

Been dreaming of a river lullaby? Then look no further!

Paradise awaits! The Prince family invites you to share our one of a kind private park like lodge in beautiful Vida, Oregon.

The main house offers a master suite with King size bed and his and hers dressing rooms. There is also a twin bed for the little ones should Mom and Dad wish to keep them close. a 32" flat screen TV with satellite is included should you wish to keep up with the outside world. Fall asleep to the song of the creek and river serenading you. The views of the river and creek from the master suite are incredible!

Bedroom two offers a very comfortable Queen bed with a large closet and TV with DVD and satellite.

Bedroom three offers twin beds with a TV and large closet.

Our two bedroom apartment is available for larger groups (rented separately). Apartment accommodations include a queen, full size, and very comfortable hide-a-bed, kitchen area with full size refrigerator, and view of the river.

The apartment offers comfortable space for up to six more (total of 15) guests, and is only available in conjunction with rental of the main home. Rates (in addition to main house rental) are $100/night from October 1st to May 15th and $125/night from May 16th to September 30th.

New for our 2015 guests, we have added a game room with pool table, ping pong table, a regulation arcade style air hockey table, PS3 game console with games, and a 40' flat screen TV for the big and smaller kids in your life.

The interior of the main home has been renovated with leather furniture, flat screen TV's, new king size memory foam bed in the master bedroom, and more!

A new trussed roof with a vaulted cedar ceiling and more windows in the living room make for even better views of the river and creek.

Our property is located on the sunny North side of the river with a beautiful view of the river, creek and foothills of the Cascade range. With over 400 feet of creek and river frontage, there is always a place to wet a line, or just your toes :)

The home is situated well off the highway on a quiet dead end street. Road noise is blocked by a 6' stone wall next to the highway and approximately 200 yards of trees and grass.

Enjoy fishing? We are blessed to be located on one of the finest trout/steelhead fishing holes on the river, with easy access to the river and creek.

Fry your hatchery fish on the grated firepit at the river or cook them on the Green Mountain Smoker on the riverfront deck. Please release all wild fish unharmed :)

Enjoy romping in a big yard? Come play on one of the largest lots on the river. With over an acre of grass and landscaped garden bordering the creek and river, there is plenty of room to wear yourselves out or just relax and enjoy the peace and serenity.

Volleyball, croquet, bocci ball, badminton, soccer, tossing a football or frisbee? You can't find a better location!

The property is surrounded by an incredible mix of outdoor activities. Rafting, hiking, mountain biking, golfing, fishing, hot spring soaking, birdwatching, wildlife viewing and so much more are all just minutes from our front door.

Our asphalt driveway provides plenty of space for an RV or your toys, with a plug in off the gargage/apartment on the driveway.

Our Mckenzie home has been our family retreat for 30 years. We are happy to offer to share the magic of the Mckenzie with you. We hope you enjoy it as much as we do, and trust you will!

About Charles and Kelly Prince

Howdy All!

My name is Charles Prince. I am married to a phenomenal woman named Kelly, who, along with our kids is the light of my life :)

I was born and raised in Oregon (as were my wife and children) and learned from an early age to appreciate the beautiful gifts in my backyard--the Mckenzie and Willamette River's.

Back in those days our parents cut us loose in the morning and expected us to wear ourselves out by evening.

Living between the Mckenzie and Willamette afforded me wonderful opportunities to hone my independent streak and fishing skills.

I was a fishing and rafting outfitter on the river for 12 years before I decided to pursue a different path in life...

We have six children (four boys and two girls) who have been raised around the river. We have spent many of the finest days of our lives at our Vida home.

We feel truly blessed to have such a quiet, pastoral setting to share with our friends.

Our dog Gerta says it is awesome too :)

Good dogs are welcome, but there are no fences!

We hope you will enjoy our home as much as we do...

Charles and Kelly

Charles and Kelly Prince purchased this lodge in 1986

Why Charles and Kelly Prince chose McKenzie River

It was originally our home. I ran a large fishing and rafting business from the property from 1985 until 1997.

Our first three children were born and raised in the home.

As you will see when you arrive--our hearts are in it :)

What makes this lodge unique

From the moment you turn in the paved drive, the Mckenzie begins to work her magic on you.

Before you even begin to unpack the car, walk down the sidewalk past the arched entry and gaze at the river...

then you will understand what makes our location and home so unique.

Take in the incredibly large yard well off the highway which makes for an exceptionally quiet and peaceful location for getting away with family and friends.

There is outstanding fishing right on the property. Our home is located at the mouth of Gate Creek, one of the largest tributaries of the river. With over 400 feet of river and creek frontage, there is plenty of room to soak your toes and wet a line.

The Rainbow and Steelhead congregate at the mouth of the creek which can lead to amazing days!

Flyfishing is especially good from June through July and again in September/October for Rainbows and Steelhead looking to fatten up on Caddis, Mayflies and other treats.

The property is also an excellent raft takeout.

Come experience the magic of the Mckenzie for yourself--but beware, it is an addictive experience :)

Guestbook comments from the owner

2013 was a fantastic year on the river, but a very sad one for our family.

The exciting changes to the home we had been planning finally came to fruition with the addition of the vaulted ceilings, new covered front porch and refurbished covered deck.

The availability of the newly refurbished apartment expanded occupancy and has been a real hit with our guests as well.

All of the excitement was tempered however by the loss of my Mom in Spring and Kelly's Dad in late summer.

Kelly and I are looking forward to a wonderful, and hopefully less stressful 2014!

Here's wishing all our former and future guest's all the best in this new year!

Owner's Response: I am so happy you enjoyed your stay Erica. As you have seen, the Mckenzie is special year round--it's just that much more special on a sunny 75 degree weekend! We look forward to hosting your next stay in November, and have reserved your dates for next May. See you soon! Cheers, Charles and Kelly

Perfect end to Summer...

  • 5 of 5

Just wrapped up a week of perfect weather, perfect fishing and first and foremost all in a perfect setting! Couldn't ask for more, the location is one of the best, the house layout works well for everyone in the family, one floor, master suite large and welcoming etc. Easy to get around for the older folks and our blind Basset Hound. Kitchen has everything we need and the new grill/smoker is even bigger than the Traeger it replaced! If it sounds like we have been here before, we have (several times) and hopefully will be back many, many more! It get's harder every time to write something different.. We did have a "flock" of Turkeys visit us one morning, that was a first!! Caught lots of trout, lost two Steelhead, one on my new Spey rod (have to blame something). The sunsets were amazing and the full moon was something to behold! I would not hesitate to recommend this place to anyone....

Now back at work basking in the glow of memories... Thank you yet once again Charles and family for sharing this special place!

Perfect Family Getaway

  • 5 of 5

This was our 3rd year to stay on the McKenzie. absolutely love it! The best place on the McKenzie! Gorgeous views from the house & decks. We enjoyed getting up every morning and have coffee by the river, so relaxing. We had our family from Laguna Beach stay with us they couldn't get enough of the river. Fishing, Floating and watching waterfowl by the river. One night we even had a visit from a very cute fox.

Our nights were just as relaxing. Cooking all our meals on the Treager even the rainbow trout! Fire river side every evening.

We couldn't have asked for better weather! If you haven't been to Oregon in the summer on the McKenzie River you are missing out!

So much to do if you enjoy the exploring too. Blue Pool, Clear Lake, Cougar Reservoir just to name a few day trips we took from the house. Sisters for lunch one day was a gorgeous short drive away. You can walk the to the Vida Cafe they make a great breakfast.

We are so blessed to been able to celebrate our wedding anniversary and two family birthdays during our stay.

We all love this place they have thought of everything to make their home be a perfect family get away!

Tranquil home in a lush, riverside setting!

  • 5 of 5

My family and I absolutely adored everything about this place, particularly all the fun outdoor activities, home-away-from-home atmosphere, and naturally stunning environment surrounding us at every turn. We loved waking up in the morning to skip rocks on the riverbank or play a game of croquet in the backyard. My only regret was not being able to stay longer. What a stunning, comfortable home with all the amenities you need for your Vida stay!

WOWZZERS!! Such a super place!!!

Our 3 generational family get-a-way at The Prince McKenzie Home was amazing!!!

There was sooooo much space & sooooo much beauty!

The yard is amazing! A river view, room for a "pup tent fort", games for adults, lots of running, laughing and jumping area all around with Still more area for bubbles, a fit pit and and and more..... Yet safe distance (for little ones) from the river.

The 1st place, our adult sons headed to upon arriving was the river. Within moments our grandson had a fish on!!! A granddaughter caught a fish with her 1st cast! To many fish to count were caught! :-) As we watched the kids, down river about a hundred feet, we hear a loud splash. What was that, we ask? Then, an Osprey raises from the river with a fish in his talons! WOW!!! The Osprey came to feed several times a day. So neat, real life nature in the back yard!!! The grandkids played in the water, their Dad's fished, as us ole folk enjoyed it all!

Traditions of a nightly "camp fires", complete with Dutch Oven Peach Cobbler and Hand cracked ice cream were made, as the sounds of the river flow just behind us. So special and peaceful!!! Most of our time was spent outside playing enjoy this wonderful yard. We hardly left "The Prince Park".

The house is very well stocked! Over the years of going to different place, we've learned to take a few things, such as a wine bottle opener, can opener, nice skillet for cooking eggs and a pancake griddle. ALL of the items were left in the car because Charles and Kelly provided all needed items our family to borrow! A Complete Kitchen!!! Loved it!!!

The beds are great! Ours was so comfy, "Poppa" even said one morning: I don't think I even moved! :-)

The decks are great! The lower open air deck, was a huge favorite lunch, snack and game spot, (when they sat quiet for a few minutes).

The upper covered deck/porch was a favorite for art projects and a last night "dance party"! Beautiful and comfortable!

There are areas of the home that can be closed off so little grandchildren, can nap and not be bothered by noise from the rest! Great feature!!!

The upstairs apartment is a fantastic feature --- The "late nighters" can stay up, play cards, enjoy an adult beverage, even cook, laugh and not wake the little ones. Super plan!!!

WOWZZERS, almost describes this amazing place!!! We Will be back!!! (We've never said that of any other VRBO Property we've visited.) LOVED IT!!! Thank you Charles & Kelly!

Owner's Response: WOWWZZWERS!!!!!! You really made Kelly and I smile with your review Bobbie. Family is what our Mckenzie house is all about, and I am always so happy to hear reunions such as your came off so well. I can't take the credit though. The home is just a nice place to stay. The Mckenzie is what creates the magic! We look forward to hosting you and your clan again soon. Cheers, Charles and Kelly

Exhausted Fly-fisher.... I think we caught them all!

  • 5 of 5

Have lost count of how many times we have been here now, this might be the sixth or ?? Will be back in October.. Weather was ok for the full 10 days, only rained for two. We have been staying on the McKenzie for so long now (25+ yrs.) we pretty much know our way around, where to fish etc. River fishing can't be beat anyway except right out front! Other folks in the family knocked back 10-15 ea. day we fished at Leaburg Lake (catch and release). Hard to beat that! Good food, the Traeger came through as always, if you don't know how to use one, learn! Great amount of off street parking as we always bring one truck, one car and one boat. Highway is close, but no road noise once on the property, just the peaceful river. Still have a bit of tendonitis in my right arm, but makes me smile as I sit here and type! We hit up the Vida store (just a half block away) almost everyday for the "things we forget". One of the best parts is we get to bring our little blind Basset Hound! Thanks again Charles and Family..

The Mckenzie River has several natural hot springs to soak away your stress.

Belknap Springs is a developed spring 30 minutes East on Hwy 126. With two pools and river view, it is a gorgeous setting.

Terwilliger Springs 'Cougar Hot Springs' are more rustic springs managed by the Forest Service located approximately 30 minutes S.E. above Cougar Reservoir on Aufderheide Scenic Dr. The springs are situated a short 1/3 mile off the paved road in an old growth forest. Truly a gorgeous setting!

The Mckenzie River Trail offers a great hiking or mountain biking adventure just 15 minutes upstream.
