What a great place. Just got back from canoeing and hiking in the Adirondacks. Stayed at Highpeaksdrifter and the pictures do not do this place justice. My friends and I tossed around whether or not we should camp out while we did our Canoe trip with multiple portages in the St Regis Wilderness Area. We decided we wanted to feel like we were camping but have a bed and a shower at the end of the day. This place did not dissapoint. All of the amenities of a modern house (wifi, DISH, air conditioning, full kitchen), yet go out on the deck and patio and you are grilling and lighting a bonfire in the wilderness. We were camping until we weren't. Best of both worlds. House is very clean and brand new. Definitely coming back.
A terrific spot for our family's annual hiking weekend in the high peaks area; Highpeaksdrifter will also be a top choice for our winter ski trip. The house is spacious, well-equipped and very clean; the location affords easy access to Lake Placid, Wilmington, and the great outdoors. Our group of six was very comfortable. Evenings around a campfire were especially memorable and the star gazing was rivaled only by the early morning mountain view. The excellent internet connection was appreciated. The owners were easy to reach and most helpful. Highly recommended.
Upon arriving, I was immediately impressed with the house and the property. It is secluded but not far from town. We stayed there for the Ironman week and being the athlete, I was hoping to have quiet& relaxation before and after the race, I was not disappointed here! The rooms were all extremely clean, spacious and comfortable- you felt at home, even my kids loved staying here and are hoping to come back during ski season. The fully furnished kitchen made cooking meals so easy and the Game room kept the kids busy after dark. My favorite part of the house was the deck, the view was spectacular-- Amazing place to sit and reflect on the biggest race of my life! We also had my parents stay with us and they were also raving about how wonderful the property was. A true gem as you never really know what you might get until check in. I just can't say enough good things about the property and the owners were also so easy to work with- it was the most seamless trip I have ever been on. I look forward to future stays as my husband and kids are already planning more trips to Whiteface Mt.
Beautiful home only 5 minutes to Whiteface and 10 minutes to Lake Placid. Pristine condition with all modern amenities in a quiet, wooded setting. Couldn't ask for a better home to spend the weekend.
My family and I rented this house for 4 days in the beginning of August, 2012 and absolutely loved it! It was in great shape, newer everything, clean and everything was where it was supposed to be! The Murphys (owners) were VERY communicative and helpful and the whole experience was fantastic. The location is off the beaten path a bit yet close to all and we loved the solitude while still being close to Wilmington, Jay, Keene and Lake Placid. Don't miss the watering hole off Route 86 with the rock wall jumps into a deep pool right near the Flume. We will CERTAINLY be returning to this house next year and highly recommend it!!
