Netarts House Rental Photos and Description

House, 2 Bedrooms + Convertible bed(s), 2 Baths, (Sleeps 4-8)

Another last-minute April Special:

Stay the whole week and get 2 nights absolutely FREE!

Opening the front door, there's an ahhhh moment as the light pours all around you, and your eye is immediately drawn beyond the windows to the drama of the ocean filling the bay. Stay the week and get one night free, all seasons.

Though you are only 2 short blocks from wriggling your toes in the sand, with easy access to multiple beach, bay, and water activities, you could just watch, from inside or out on the decks: the tide coming in and flowing out, eagles soaring and perching in view, hummingbirds darting, pelicans swooping, and herons fishing. Meanwhile, boaters, crabbers, canoers and kayakers, ships at sea, sailboaters, paddleboarders, windsurfers in the bay and ocean, and even hang-gliders provide endless entertainment.

Inside is a mini-pool table, flat screen TV, games, puzzles, kites, books, CD, record and tape player, a children's play basket, a clawfoot soaking tub for luxuriating, and a setting so open and comfortable you'll immediately feel at ease. With 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms located across a wide hall from each other, there's sufficient privacy for 2 couples. One of the bedrooms has its own private bath and queen bed. The other has a king bed with an ocean view, with a skylight allowing the moon to shine through. Some prefer sleeping under the stars on the pull-out queen couch in the great room with the skylight above.

And the sun! Protected by the capes to the north and south, the sun will be shining here when fog envelopes everywhere else. You can wear as little as a tank top and shorts on the south deck, even in cold weather, as it's so protected from the wind, and you can gaze at the ocean from both decks. It's so peaceful and quiet, the ocean is usually the loudest sound around.

Outside in the fenced yard, your dog can cavort. You might want to use the kayak on one of the sleepy rivers between here and Tillamook, only a few miles away. Or, if experienced, paddle it in the bay when the tide is coming in, and the wind and sea are calm. On the beach, within walking distance north, is Oceanside with its cute cafes, espresso, and famed restaurant, Roseanna's. When it's windy there, you can always retreat to the protected cove that is Netarts where there's an equally fabulous restaurant even closer-by to the south with an outdoor patio, the Schooner. There's also a take-out sandwich shop, Sugarfoot's, in walking distance. A small grocery 2 blocks away has everything you forgot to bring. Should you care to shop, 2 blocks away is a curio store that always has fresh-baked brownies on hand. Seven miles away in Tillamook is the Tillamook Air Museum and the popular Tillamook Cheese Factory, a movie theater, golf, and numerous other possible excursions.

Sometimes when you go to the beach, it's to relax; sometimes it's to play, explore, and be active. It's all available here. Come enjoy!

We are retirees living in Portland, who love that it's only a short drive to Netarts for canoeing, kayaking, beach strolls, low tide adventures, and just relaxing. Being able to rest while being entertained by the view is a big plus. The fact that unloading just means dropping our supplies inside the door, makes it possible to enjoy the beach immediately. (See below re: the 1 minute drive to be ON the beach!)

Samantha Willow purchased this house in 2006

Many decades ago my babysitting money went into my folks buying a beach cabin in Oceanside, 2 miles away. I grew up making forts on the beach, log dams on the streams, and exploring adjoining beaches inaccessible from the beach except at low tides. (Lost Boy Cave! Devil's Punchbowl!) As adults, my husband and I discovered canoeing across Netarts Bay to the sandy peninsula off Cape Lookout (that you see from our windows). After nearly being dragged out to sea once, we learned how powerful bay tides can be! We also discovered that when it's fogged in or windy everywhere else, Netarts is sort of a 'banana belt'! And at 1 1/4 hours from Portland, we can be breathing ocean air, with our toes in the sand in almost no time. Plus, with Oceanside being the often misty, windy, picturesque destination 2 miles to the north, and Pacific City being the happening surfing spot 30 minutes south, Netarts is rarely crowded with tourists, though the bay waters often teem with crab boats and all manner of water craft!

You'll rarely find a beach-view house so perfectly situated to take advantage of sunny days, where you can be out of the wind, with such easy access to the beach and so close to it (while still outside the tsunami zone!). Expansive views all on one level. The fenced yard makes entertaining your dog easy. Walking on the beach to Oceanside for the fresh cinnamon rolls (currently available only during the busy seasons) is a favorite treat. When we're feeling lazy, we drive around the corner to Happy Camp where we don't even have to do stairs to be on the beach.

We stayed 2 nights for my mom's 82nd birthday. She was elated with the view of the water and spent lots of time just watching the waves roll in and out. The owners really keep the house well appointed, clean and cozy. We would definitely return.

Nice and quiet location. Great place to stay with our 8 and 11 year old. You can go clamming on the beach which is a 2 minute walk away. Crabbing, hiking and other adventures are super close. Tillamook Forestry Center is less than 1/2 hour drive and worth it! The windows look out on the ocean and are so wonderful to sit and watch the sunset or a stormy day. The deck is perfect for enjoying the view. The owners are VERY helpful and responsive. Well stocked kitchen, perfect for cooking family meals. Really had a lovely time!

Quiet and beautiful

I've used this house as a beach getaway with a group of friends on multiple occasions now. We're all in our 30s and just looking for a quiet escape from the daily grind. This place is absolutely perfect for what we want. I've been there in storms and sunshine and relaxing on a couch or outside on one of the decks couldn't be more enjoyable. One thing I'll never get enough of is walking in the door and seeing the wall of windows that looks out onto the bay/ocean; it just puts you right into beach-mode.

The owners are extremely thorough in documenting everything you might have a question about (what to do, where to go, how to do it) and the entire place is stocked with all possible amenities. The 2 bedrooms offer comfortable beds, but I've found myself drawn to either the pullout couch or just pumping up an air mattress out in the living room because there I get to wake up with the sun.

Great view, cozy house!

This house is perfect for a stay at Oregon's moody coast. The expansive windows let you take in the ocean like you're almost sitting in it (and it's much more affordable than many beachfront places). If Oregon weather should creep in, you won't miss out from in the cozy living room, where you can watch the waves, even while you cook.
The house is simple but has everything you could possibly need, and the incredibly attentive owner has even thought of some thing you didn't know you'd need, including recommendations of everything nearby. The yard and house are fantastic for pets, but don't show any signs of pet wear. Truly a great find.

We have rented houses on the Oregon coast for 15 years. We were with our son, daughter-in-law and 2 young children. This house was comfortable and had all we needed. The view from the house was average. Easy walk to the beach. Good place to dine out close by. Epic storms with severe wind and rain warnings, but never lost power. That was amazing to us. We give the owners 5 stars. Very nice people.

Car: not necessary

3 minutes to beach for walks, play, or runs, Superb low tide discoveries, Netarts Bay is so healthy with ocean life that you tend to Bird-Watch all day long inside or outside the house, in the yard and on the decks: not just eagles, herons and hummingbirds, but pelicans in season; Canoeing, Clamming & Crabbing (or get 'em live in small grocery 2 blocks away), Home of oyster-farming, Excellent restaurants in walking distance, Small curio shop that serves fresh brownies 2 blocks away, It's generally so peaceful here that the ocean is the loudest sound you'll hear but there's endless adventuring on foot, bike, or by car nearby, In winter, stormy seas make being warm and cozy inside especially delightful. As the saying goes: 'There is no bad weather at the beach, only inadequate clothing!'

Whale-watching from the Cape Meares Lighthouse a few miles north is a seasonal favorite.

Even though we're outside the tsunami zone, we felt more secure having 2 stocked emergency backpacks on site.
