Netarts House Rental Photos and Description
Ocean-View House, 2 Bedrooms + Convertible bed, 2 Baths, (Sleeps 4-6 adults).
Opening the front door, there's an ahhhh moment as the light pours all around you, and your eye is immediately drawn beyond the windows to the drama of the ocean filling the bay. Stay the week and get one night free, all seasons.
Though you are only 2 short blocks from wriggling your toes in the sand, with easy access to multiple beach, bay, and water activities, you could just watch, from inside or out on the decks: the tide coming in and flowing out, eagles soaring and perching in view, hummingbirds darting, pelicans swooping, and herons fishing. Meanwhile, boaters, crabbers, canoers and kayakers, ships at sea, sailboaters, paddleboarders, windsurfers in the bay and ocean, and even hang-gliders provide endless entertainment.
Inside is a mini-pool table, flat screen TV, games, puzzles, kites, books, CD, record and tape player, a children's play basket, a clawfoot soaking tub for luxuriating, and a setting so open and comfortable you'll immediately feel at ease. With 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms located across a wide hall from each other, there's sufficient privacy for 2 couples. One of the bedrooms has its own private bath and queen bed. The other has a king bed with an ocean view, with a skylight allowing the moon to shine through. Some prefer sleeping under the stars on the pull-out queen couch in the great room with the skylight above.
And the sun! Protected by the capes to the north and south, the sun will be shining here when fog envelopes everywhere else. You can wear as little as a tank top and shorts on the south deck, even in cold weather, as it's so protected from the wind, and you can gaze at the ocean from both decks. It's so peaceful and quiet, the ocean is usually the loudest sound around.
Outside in the fenced yard, your dog can cavort. You might want to use the kayak on one of the sleepy rivers between here and Tillamook, only a few miles away. Or, if experienced, paddle it in the bay when the tide is coming in, and the wind and sea are calm. On the beach, within walking distance north, is Oceanside with its cute cafes, espresso, and famed restaurant, Roseanna's. When it's windy there, you can always retreat to the protected cove that is Netarts where there's an equally fabulous restaurant even closer-by to the south with a fabulous bay-view outdoor patio, the Schooner. There's a fresh seafood stand, Floyd's, in walking distance open Thursdays - Sundays, 10-7 currently. A small grocery 2 blocks away has everything you forgot to bring. Should you care to shop, 2 blocks away is a curio store that always has fresh-baked brownies on hand. Seven miles away in Tillamook is the popular Tillamook Cheese Factory, golf, and numerous other possible excursions. From mid-June through September, Tillamook also hosts a downtown Farmers Market on Saturdays from 9 to 2. In the spring, whale-watchers flock to nearby Cape Lookout.
Sometimes when you go to the beach, it's to relax; sometimes it's to play, explore, and be active. It's all available here. Come enjoy!

About Samantha Willow
We are retirees living in Portland, who love that it's only a short scenic drive to Netarts for canoeing, kayaking, beach strolls, low tide adventures, and just relaxing. Being able to rest while being entertained by the view is a big plus. The fact that unloading means merely dropping our supplies inside the door, makes it possible to enjoy the beach immediately. (See below re: the 1 minute drive to be ON the beach!)
This special little, mostly unknown, gem of an area hosts a beehive of quiet, nature-based activity and enjoyment of the ocean, none of it intruding on our own low-key enjoyment, in fact enhancing it. Think picturesque! Crab boats, paragliders, kayakers, paddle-boarders, the lone sandspit adventurer exploring the sandspit only accessible by boat, with the incoming tide beginning to lap over the spit.... Exciting!
Samantha Willow purchased this house in 2006
Why Samantha Willow chose Netarts
Many decades ago my babysitting money went into my folks buying a beach cabin in Oceanside, 2 miles away (now for sale!). I grew up making forts on the beach, log dams on the streams, and exploring adjoining beaches inaccessible from the beach except at low tides. (Lost Boy Cave! Devil's Punchbowl!) As adults, my husband and I discovered canoeing across Netarts Bay to the sandy peninsula off Cape Lookout (that you see from our windows). After nearly being dragged out to sea once, we learned how powerful bay tides can be! We also discovered that when it's fogged in or windy everywhere else, Netarts is sort of a sunny 'banana belt'! And at 1 1/4 hours from Portland, we can be breathing ocean air, with our toes in the sand in almost no time. Plus, with Oceanside being the often fogged-in, or windy, picturesque destination 2 miles to the north, and Pacific City being the happening surfing spot 30 minutes south, Netarts is rarely crowded with tourists, though the bay waters often teem with crab boats and all manner of water craft!
What makes this house unique
What meets the eye when you walk in the door is what sold me on the place in that first instant. Your eyes are drawn immediately to the ocean out the windows. A little punch of awe. Plus, I love all the light pouring in. Makes me feel part of the nature you see all around. You'll rarely find a beach-view house so perfectly situated to take advantage of sunny days, where you can be out of the wind, with such easy access to the beach and so close to it (while still outside the tsunami zone!). It features expansive views, and is all on one level, so the floor plan kind of flows. The fenced grassy yard makes entertaining your dog easy, and allows for a game of croquet. Walking on the beach to Oceanside for fresh cinnamon rolls is a favorite treat. When we're feeling lazy, we drive around the corner to Happy Camp where we don't even have to do stairs to be on the beach.
Guestbook comments from the owner
This time a visit to the Blue Heron Cheese Factory/Petting Zoo was in order. This place and the soft roar of the tides helped me recover from respiratory problems and helped me better deal with my stepmom's death. Thanks again for the opportunity to heal, renew and plan in this delightful place.
