Great Place to Relax and Escape

Are you looking for a place to escape and truly relax? Do you want a quiet location in a warm, friendly place in Hawaii right on the ocean? Would you like to hear and watch the ocean, and smell the fresh ocean air as you drink your favorite tropical drink without the crush of a huge crowd nearby? Would you like to take a nap in a hammock under the swaying palms? Do you want to swim with the green sea turtles? Do you want to snorkel with hundreds of brightly colored fish? Go on a whale-watching cruise? Fly over the wettest spot on the planet? See the endangered Hawaiian Monk seal on the beach? This cottage may be just what you need! The cottage is located in Kapa’a, Kauai right on the ocean! We just opened the door and the beautiful ocean is only steps away! With three bedrooms, you have plenty of room to spread out. And yes, they have phones and Internet access in the cottage if you have to get your emails too while on vacation. There are places to eat as well as purchase needed items within only a few minute’s walk. Speaking of walking, there is a great paved walking/biking path right outside the cottage and you can enjoy, as we did, lots of great times walking along the beach. If you stay there during the winter as we did you will definitely see many whales right there or nearby. Kauai is a friendly, beautiful island with tons of things to see and do. You will want to rent a car and drive to the various locations on island so that you can experience the true “garden isle” nature of Kauai. Cynthia and John were the best hosts you could ever want! Be sure to talk to Captain John at Kainalu Fishing about going out and fishing too! Kapa’a is only a short drive from the airport and it is centrally located on the east side of the island making it a good starting place to travel to other fantastic sites on the north or south shores. The Kauai lifestyle is laid-back, friendly, and wonderful! This quiet, beautiful location will allow you to escape the fast-paced life that is found at other locations! We loved it! I’m sure you will too!

Just what we needed!!

My husband and I, along with a couple of friends had the pleasure of staying in this simple classic 1940's beach cottage. It had everything we needed and then some. The kitchen is fully equipped with all your basic cooking needs, plus a BBQ. Having your own in house washer and dryer comes in handy. The small cottage is clean and well maintained and you can't beat the views as it is over looking the ocean.

If you are looking for a place that is off the beaten path, (not in the resort part of Kauai) then this is the place for your. You can live like a local and just be steps away from shops, restaurants, pubs, pool, gym and much more. Staying in the town of Kapaa was perfect for us as you are centrally located on the island. So if the weather is not perfect when you wake up, you are at the half way point to go either north or south on the island in search of activities or sun. (Sun was not the problem on this trip) Located just 20 min. away from the airport makes it very convenient for any pick ups or drop offs.

Between the house and the ocean are palms trees, grass and a bike path. This path is great to stroll down to restaurants or just take a walk along the coast line and take in the view. We saw many whale spouts on these walks. As you walk down this path you have your choice of many beaches that are quiet and beautiful. If you are a light sleeper, then I suggest bring ear plugs as you will be awoken by the island roosters that are everywhere on Kauai.

Cynthia and Jon are great hosts and are never to far away if you need something or have any questions.

Can't wait until the next time!!

We stayed here for two weeks in 2011. As we are not keen on big full program resorts, the vacation cottage was right up our alley. This was essentially a home-away-from home... except that it is right on the waterfront!

you are right in Kapa'a Town, so most amenities are within a short walk, including a pub a general store. If you get tired of sighseeing, stay home, and BBQ by the beach for a day

Cozy, comfortable, clean... not to mention Cynthia and John wonderful hosts.
Recommended for:  Age 55+, Adventure Seekers, Girls Getaway, Tourists without a Car, Sightseeing, Families with Teenagers, Families with Young Children, Romantic Getaway
