Bungalow, 1 Bedroom, 1 Bath (Sleeps 2-3)

Casita Ave Maria is a 900-square foot, OPEN designed casita that was created and built by the Clancys.

Casita Ave Maria showcases a radiused-front wall that opens up the floor space and makes the large kiva fireplace a focal point. David Clancy sculpted the incredible kiva and colored it with the perfect hue to offset it on the adobe-colored plaster that adorns all the walls. Natural wood cabinets shaped and built by David, knotty pine doors and tongue and groove ceilings wrap their warmth around you as you sit in this spiritual space and gaze out the Southern windows at the canyon, the Southwestern windows at the valley below and amazing sun sets or the mountains from the Eastern patio.

The original design of this casita boasts a HUGE patio on the Southern side, a serpentine-pavered patio edged with decorative block piers with lighting insets. The Southwestern side hosts a large patio which can be accessed out the bedroom door. A 6-person hot tub and grande, outdoor fireplace await your arrival on this side and you can sit in the hot tub and marvel at the valley and canyon views, watch the sun rise and set, or count the shooting stars at night.

Talavera-tile adorns the kitchen cupboards and kitchen island. Brick-pavered flooring with RADIANT FLOOR HEATING warm every step you take in this precious space. All NEW, stainless steel appliances await your use. Large, stackable washer and dryer is in its own closet.

The bedroom area is in the OPEN area of the entire casita but tucked away in the SouthWest side of the open space.

A door to the SouthWest patio is off of the bedroom area making quick visits to and from the hot tub or the outdoor fireplace delightfully easy!!

Spirit-soothing STEAM shower is stunningly slate-tiled with a glass door that encloses you in what we call the ''Enchanted Cave'' shower. Steam and dream away!

Starting supplies of wood are supplied for your use in both the indoor and outdoor fireplaces, basic start-ups of some spices, laundry and dish soap and paper products are supplied for your pleasure.

About Tammi Clancy

Welcome to Casita AveMaria in Taos! We, the Clancys, purchased our vacation/future retirement home property in 2007. We had often visited Taos and enjoyed our short stays. It was during the filming of a short, indie-film for a friend, with Taos as the location, that Tammi declared she wanted to retire in Taos. The Taos magic blessed that statement. We have had the most amazing guests and they have all added to the charm of our home.

Awesome views from the Hot Tub on the deck

When we arrived we were not sure that there would be enough room in the cabin. But once we got inside we could not believe how great the layout was. The cabin was clean and had all the amenities you could possible want. The owner was great in telling us about the Town Arroyo Seco just down the road from the cabin. They also gave us excellent restaurant reviews and picking out a restaurant was easy to do. But I think the greatest surprise was the deck in the front of the cabin. We were able to sit in the hot tub and take in views of the valley below and the mountains above. We also got to see one of the most colorful sunsets we have ever seen. Also there is a humming bird feeder on the deck and there were eight humming birds using the feeder. I have never seen the radiance of the feathers when light bounced off their feathers. We had such a good time. But we enjoyed shopping for art work and we were not disappointed. Can not wait to go back again.

Romantic Serenity

The place offered the quiet, privet and serene atmosphere we were looking for. Cool nights and warm fires. Wine and dine at some wonderful restaurants. This is the place to do it all from. We met both the owners and the caretakers. Everyone was helpful and a pleasure as hosts. Reality is even better than the pictures. We WILL stay her again.

Perfect Retreat

This beautiful home is everything we had hoped for when renting a home for a vacation "away". Every nook and corner was carefully planned and there was nothing that wasn't provided for us that we needed - there were plenty of towels, utensils, cookware, firewood, bedding, etc. and the caretaker and owners were very kind and easy to work with. :-) The propery overlooks a canyon (it is very private so you feel like there aren't any neighbors at all), and you can look out further to the gorge and enjoy the view.

The steam shower was fantastic and the bed was immensely comfortable! We enjoyed just listening to the radio and enjoying the view over a cup of tea. There are plenty of books to read in case you didn't bring your own, and we enjoyed sitting outside with a glass of wine, just enjoying the day.

We will definitely be back the next time we need a place that provides peace, serenity, and a sense of "home away from home".

THANK YOU for sharing this fantastic home. If we had our choice, we'd build one just like it for our retirement years!!!!

very restful and peaceful stay. clean and warm, just what we were hoping for after the busy holidays.
Yes, I would recommend this property to friends. Make sure you eat breakfast at Michael's.

Only negative, which we were warned about, was getting used to creaking, or adjustments to the roof brought on by the cold weather. But even with that said, it was very comfortable inside.

Owner's Response: Our roof, which is extra-insulative in the cold winters and hot summers, expands and contracts because of the special materials. Because of this superb insulation, the house stays very warm in the winter and quite cool in the strong sun of summer. When these guests stayed, it was 17 below zero at night. And, they were warm! Yeah for great construction!

Home away from home

Well built home, very well thought out. The brick floor, steam shower, location, hot tub, and open design were among our favorite. We rented this place to stay in during our snowboard season. The home has a long radius front wall and roof that are common to custom southwest homes. Everything we needed was there and in good order. We really enjoyed our stay.
Recommended for:  Age 55+, Adventure Seekers, Girls Getaway, Sightseeing, Families with Young Children, Romantic Getaway
