I love the Yucatan. The Gulf Coast is safe and friendly. I fell in love with the Mayan people. They always smile, are friendly, want to help you, they are just the sweetest people there is. I love the sun, the ocean, the peace and tranquility this coast has to offer. Life is simple here and I truly feel at home and happy here.
You see the ocean the minute you wake up from your bed then you can see the beach while taking your shower in the upstairs suite. You have breakfast either in the dining room or on the upstairs or downstairs terrace again admiring the ocean and smelling the sea breeze. I love immersing myself in this oceanic surrounding
One always wonders if places are as nice as they look online, and the answer to Casa Magica is yes! It was exactly as shown, a lovely and very clean home. It has all the amenities one could ask for, and the location was ideal for exploring the area. We had a Norte blow in for a few days while visiting (like a Noreaster) and it made it a bit chilly for swimming, but we took full advantage of the rest of the house. Our caretaker Daysi was extremely helpful in explaining whatever we needed to know, and went above and beyond on Christmas eve to help get our internet restored (after the Norte). She even topped it off with a surprise place setting with Christmas place mats, table ornaments and a bottle of wine! Talk about service. Dealing with Yolande via email and phone was a pleasure, and all went smoothly with deposits etc. I would highly recommend this property to family and friends.

We had such a wonderful experience with Casa Magica. It is exactly as the pictures show. The house had everything you could want for your vacation. We had at one time five adult women in the house and it was big enough and there were enough bathrooms to take care of all. The beach was beautiful. It was winter when we came so the ocean was a little churned up but before we left in February we could see how beautiful it was. Jose(the caretaker)kept the beach raked and smooth so it was always a joy to be on. We had comments often from people walking the beach that it was the best! The pool was a little cold because of the time of year we were there but we used it a few times and the pool deck was a wonderful place to congregate to read, watch the ships and boats and marvel at the sea life and dolphins at fairly close range. I mentioned Jose before, well his wife Deysi is just as wonderful. They became our friends along with being the best caretakers you could want. I can't even tell you how many things they take care of but they were wonderful! We brought our Chihauha Booboo with and he still looks for her when I mention Deysi's name.
We loved our stay at Casa Magica. It was more than a vacation rental. It was home and Deysi, Jose and Yolande became family. There was so much to do and most everything was easy to get to. If you want a tour guide though, there was a great guy, Manuel, who could do that and get fish and seafood for you too.
We had a great time!!!!
I think this is the cleanest house I have seen in the south. The area is quiet and safe. The care takers are efficient, friendly, and the wife Deisy will give you som recipies or even cook with you if you ask. I did and I learned to make seafood or fish cevice and crepa de shaya...Yummy. The port of Progresso is not far, and fresh fish, meat, fruits and vegetables are available daily. There is also a store where we can buy gifts made by artisans,at the right price. I enjoyed my stay better than if I had been in a hotel in tourists only area where you have almost no contact with the real people. P.S. Their buss transportation system is great in Yucatan!
This house is perfectly named. It has a certain magic as soon as you enter onto the property. The caretakers are magic. Even the house companion dog is magic. We have rented Casa Magica twice now and feel like the house is our home as soon as we get there. We never wanted to leave. We needed to have high speed internet and US/Canada phone service the first that we were going to be on an extended vacation. Casa Magica had it all - the beach, the view and all so beautifully decorated. As bonus though, we got Deysi, Jose and Chichua the dog. Jose is the beach keeper and prides himself on keeping the cleanest and best beach in the whole area. If you want to have a bonfire on the beach, just tell Jose and all you need to do is bring your marguerita glass and marshmallows. If you want to try coconut water, he will climb the tree to get you fresh cocos. Deysi, his wife, is absolutely lovely and is equally there for you. You want all/some or one of your Yucatecan meals prepared for you? Deysi will oblige. You want to learn about the area and a little bit of spanish to boot, they can be there for that. Even if you want complete privacy - like many honeymooners who we have heard have rented Casa Magica, you will see no one. But if you want to be in the centre of everything, you are only 7 kms to town and you can always see the cruise ships arriving early in the morning from the MBR balcony along the horizon. We met so many people that live here full time that have said, we started out renting at Casa Magica and fell in love with the area so we bought our own place nearby. We did the same thing. We are safe, secure and fortunate to have spent such great times in this home.
Casa Magica is not just endless empty beaches, peace and quiet, quaint fishing villages, friendly Mayans, beautiful sunrises and sunsets. Less than 5 minutes away is a Pink Flamingo Sanctuary and Observatory where you can watch these magnificent birds in their natural habitat. Progreso, 5 miles from the house, has a beautiful Malecon with restaurants overlooking the longest pier in the world.
There is also a Walmart for your shopping convenience. Play golf and tennis at La Ceiba Golf Club, it is only 15 minutes away. Services offered at Marina Silcer Cocoteros include their great restaurant, bar, swimming pool, classes for windsurfing, kite boarding, rental of equipment and kayaks and it is only 10 minutes away from the house. Drive 25 minutes to Merida for fine dining, night clubing, people watching and familiar conveniences including Costco, Sam's Club, Walmart, Sears, Friday's, Subway, Pizza Hut, and Bennigans. You will also discover a city, founded in 1542, with beautiful mansions and museums.
Immerse yourself in Mayan culture. Internationally famous Dzibilchaltun is less than 15 minutes away while Chitzen Itza and Uxmal are about 2 hours away. Let the magic of Mayan culture transport you to another time. Read about their culture in our library, then explore the mysterious Mayan ruins to experience it for yourself.
The area is becoming an ecotourism destination. Discover its unique environment; investigate the jungle and its wildlife, visit coastal estuaries and mangroves which support an extraordinary and diverse population of aviary and marine life, see the vast salt beds, then explore underground caves and cenotes.
