PANORAMIC LAKE VIEW CABIN W/ HOT TUB, 2BR, 1.5 BA, '11 REMODEL

Tahoma Cabin Rental Photos and Description

Cabin, 2 Bedrooms + Convertible bed(s), 1.5 Baths, (Sleeps 6-8)

Our cabin is ONE ROW ABOVE LAKE FRONT, about 40 yards from the water, with a short one minute walk down to a private beach and shared pier. The brand new hot-tub and deck have a stunning 180 degree view of the lake, unobstructed. We finished the remodeling of the interior in February 2011, and have added brand new appliances, beds, bedding and furniture. We are behind a private 6 foot fence, with an iron gate for privacy and safety, with a vacant lot behind and beside us.

The cabin is 100 yards from West Side Pizza and Tavern, 100 yards from the US Post Office, and 200 yards from the PDQ market, the only grocery store for 8 miles in either direction. You can park your car and never leave, for as many days as you want to hide out!

This location is as good as it gets on the West Shore. The two bedrooms comfortably sleep 6, and a brand new fold-out queen sized couch in the family room next to the fireplace makes the cabin sleep a total of 8 people.

We are six-season homeowners in Tahoma, and we have our own private cabin on 9th Avenue, just up the hill from this cabin. We live in San Diego and come up as often as we can, as our 5 and 7 year old sons love to ski, sled and enjoy the lake in the summer.

We have a lot of pride in our affiliation with the West Shore, and we are the distributors of the 'West Shore Best Shore' hats, tee shirts and stickers you see around the area.

The Owner purchased this cabin in 2010

Tahoe is the best place in the world.

Where else can you: water ski, snow ski, hike, bike and camp, all from a short walk from your front yard?

Answer: NOWHERE!

And as for buying this particular cabin: THE VIEW and LOCATION, by the water, one row above lake front.

Our cabin is in a gated community, currently consisting of just our home, as the two other lots are unsold and undeveloped.

You can walk 100 yards or so and be in the lake, shopping for groceries, mailing a package or having a beer and/or pizza. And yet, its very quiet, very peaceful, and private on our lake-fronting deck. The property is on a hillside, so the lake front mansions below us are in fact, well below us, making the view truly magnificent.

We really enjoyed our stay here. The cabin was cozy, and the perfect size. Not to mention the amazing view of the lake from the back porch. Everything worked perfectly (heaters, wifi, TV, etc.), and Ross was awesome - super pleasant to deal with. Had to call him with a really simple question, and he graciously assisted. Also the hot tub was incredible. Can’t recommend this place enough.

My wife and I stayed at the cabin for 3 nights for our 3rd Anniversary. We loved the cabin, it has a great view and is conveniently located near a pizza restaurant and coffee shop that is less than a minute to walk to. We enjoyed going to the pier and sitting at the lake. It was great to have all the kitchen utensils and pans to be able to make a few meals easily. We would definitely come back to stay here again.

+ : close to the lake and to the Grocery; all you need in kitchen, laundry, towels, etc.; ratio cost/quality very interesting; very good quality of the Wi-Fi; private beach very close and clean (one remark : we have search it a the beginning, a little map could be interesting..)

- : some lights were broken (terrace in dark, living-room); hard to maintain the hot-tube temperature (decreasing slowly every day)

A very good and charming experience during our holidays in USA

Owner's Response: I'm glad you enjoyed your stay. We have fixed the lights and will be placing a map to the private beach in the Welcome Binder in the cabin, a very good suggestion. The hot tub had been accidentally put into economy or sleep mode, which means that it wouldn't reach maximum heat. I'm sorry about that. It has been addressed. Thank you for visiting our place.

2-star cabin on a 5-star lot

The view is amazing, the location is unbeatable.

Given what the owners charge per night, we found the small old cabin lacking. Had a dank smell that we never got used.
Cleanliness was an issue. Cleanser in the upstairs toilet and tub: not sure if they were cleaned. We had to vacuum upstairs because it was obviously dirty. The stove knobs were grimy, the utensil drawer was full of food particles. The coffee maker was filthy. Curtains around first floor bathroom sink was half off.
Flannel sheets in June. We had to use our beach sheet to keep cool. The curtains were hung on flimsy wire and were constantly falling off.
The deck furniture was uncomfortable.
The cabin is on a beautiful fenced lot; however, the neighbors came on to it one morning with trash bags picking up pine cones. There was a romantic interlude at one of the open gates. A guy walked through and jumped the fence to go to a near-by cabin. Made us very uncomfortable.
We cannot recommend this cabin at the current cost per night.
One more thing: after we had made final payment, it took two emails and a phone call to get the access code. We would have expected that with acknowledgement of the final payment.
Owner's Response: Constructive criticism is always welcome, and we have taken all of the reviewers comments very seriously. We have taken action on all of the issues raised that we have control over, primarily the cleanliness issues, adding cleaning supplies and having lighter summer sheets available. June can still be chilly at night up at the lake and we've never had anyone mention the sheets before, so that is a helpful point. We had tenants stay at the cabin the 5 days immediately prior to this reviewer, and they also posted a review, which was a 5-Star review (dated June 25, 2013) with no mention of any cleanliness problems. So, we have taken this matter to our cleaning staff and made it clear that this can't happen again. With regards to neighbors and other folks in the area making the reviewer uncomfortable, there isn't much we can do about it. The best thing I can think of to say is that perhaps the reviewer could have voiced their concerns to the parties that were making them uncomfortable, at the time? No one should be coming into our fenced property and collecting pine cones, but not being resident landlords, its hard to control that kind of thing. The last thing the reviewer mentioned regarding getting keys to the property; it is a keyless entry system that uses a passcode, which we emailed to the tenant in advance of their arrival, which is our custom. This is our first and only bad review in 3 seasons of being active with the cabin and we have taken as much action as possible to try and ensure its the only one we get. I only wish the tenant/reviewer had called or emailed while they were staying with us, and we would have had our team come down and clean the property again. We have refunded the tenant their cleaning charge, as of today.

Tahoma is quiet, it's almost a secret get-away from the city, and from the busyness and crowds of the North Shore and South Shore. Yet it offers everything that Lake Tahoe has to offer.

Our cabin is in a perfect location with a full view of the lake, just one row above lakefront. The deck is peaceful and quiet and secluded. We are less than 100 yards from West Side Pizza and the U.S. Post Office, and about 150 yards to the PDQ market where you can buy groceries, wine, newspapers, fresh baked goods or rent videos for a quiet evening at home overlooking the lake.

Hiking, swimming, boating, Emerald Bay, skiing, it's all just a couple of miles away.

Other Activities: Shopping, Kayaking, Boating, Cross Country Skiing, Downhill/Alpine Skiing, Snowboarding, Snowmobiling, Wildlife Viewing, Rock Climbing, Miniature golf
