Carol Pawley and Joy Ray are both sisters and realtors from Florida. We purchased this property in 2009 from family members and completely renovated it down to the studs. It was a labor of love.
Carol Pawley purchased this farmhouse in 2008
This property had alot of family history and we both felt a strong connection to it since our parents owned it. It was the original farm house on a golf resort now known as Hound Ears. Our children now grown have played in the yard and area since they were small and it invokes many happy memories.
It is very safe, guard gated golfing community with winding roads and streams very picturesque. There is a children's play area at the bottom of our home with swing set etc.. Our yard has flat grass which is fabulous for games and a large deck to enjoy the fabulous watch them and relax. Also in the late afternoons you can walk around the golf course for exercise. You feel like you are in the country but are close to shopping etc.
Every year a group of friends/App Alumni get together for a fun weekend escape to the mountains and go to a football game. Every year we choose a different house based on need. This year we had a great time on Cherry Street! The house was perfect. The only snaffoo was having 3 couples with the bed options (2 kings, 1 trundle/twin, and set of twin beds). Regardless we made it work. The house is beautifully decorated and private. The gatemen at the entrance to Hound Ears were wonderful and curtious for us and our guests. Thanks so much!!
This is an absolutely gorgeous home, and was perfect for our Homecoming weekend rental. It's in a beautiful golfing community which is far enough off the beaten path to relax, but close to Boone for shopping. The fully stocked kitchen was a must, and made it so much easier to prepare the food we needed to take tailgating.
The entire home was tastefully decorated, with plenty of space to sit and talk, as well as sleep. Plenty of televisions if we wanted to watch anything in the evenings. The added mudroom was a good place to store coolers and other larger items to keep them out of the way.
The back deck and grill were wonderful additions, and really made us feel right at home. Large dining room table had plenty of space for our family to sit and eat together.
Carol was prompt in answering emails and questions that we had. We will definitely stay here again.
I wish that it had *one* more bathroom, but that wasn't a deal-breaker for us, and we are looking forward to renting the property again.
We stayed here with another couple and 3 kids under 6yrs. Two large bedrooms with king size beds and 2 rooms with 2 twins each made for perfect sleeping conditions. The house is completely updated and well stocked. Great yard with playground at end. Beautiful neighborhood worth taking a long, quiet walk through. about 20-30 min drine to both Boone and Blowing Rock. Would love to stay again.
Lovely home in an exquisite mountain setting and exclusive golf community. We had 5 adults in our party, and this home accommodated our every need in every way. From kitchen appliances and cookware to sleeping accommodations (bed comfort received rave reviews from all) and laundry -- yes, we're one of those families that does laundry daily! Life for us revolves around food, and the kitchen was modern and more than adequate to accommodate our favorite roasted prime rib recipe and the necessity to keep coffee brewing at all hours. Coffee on the terrace was made even more enjoyable by the stunning vista. Everything about our stay, this home, the hospitality of the owner, and even the community's gatehouse security staff are noteworthy and memorable, and in the very best way! Thank you for making a favorite niece's 22nd birthday and coincident graduation from App State one of the most wonderful family celebrations of our collective lives!
This house is beautifully decorated and has a nice layout. Two families shared this house and we had plenty of room to spread out. The beds and linens were very comfortable. The kitchen was fully stocked for all our cooking needs. The location is in a very nice gated community, away from main streets, but close enough to comforts such as nice restaurants, stores and ski/tubing mountains. We had a large backyard and playground nearby for the kids to play at. The large wrap around deck was very nice, but we didn't use it since we visited at a chilly time of year. I wouldn't hesitate to rent this house again when travelling to the Boone area. Thanks for a great stay, Carol!
We stayed for 3 nights 4 adults, 2 kids and a baby in a portable bed. We loved having the living room and the family room in proximity yet separate. Kitchen is wonderfully equipped and the large table was a convenience. The 2 king and kids room have each their own heating control, so everyone were very comfortable.
The location is unbeatable, close to Blowing Rock, Boone, Banner Elk, and Valle Crucis with their fine dining, shopping and sports. You get all the privacy and security of being in an exclusive area, heavily wooded, gated community and the seclusion to enjoy the beautiful weather and fine scenery. The area has every sport and activity you'll ever want, including golf, 4 ski resorts, snow and river tubing, mountain biking and recently added, zip lining. Children love the nearby Tweetsie Railroad amusement park, the park with swimming pool in downtown Blowing Rock and the Jonas resort tubing park, horse back riding, mining, trout fishing and blue berry picking all within 15 minutes. Adults love the fine dining, antiquing and discount shopping along with the ASU concerts, craft shows and relaxation.
