Overview

5th Arrondissement Latin Quarter Apartment Rental Photos and Description

Apartment, 1 Bedroom + Convertible bed(s), 1 Bath, (Sleeps 2-3)

Welcome to our family home on rue Maitre Albert! This one-bedroom apartment is loaded with ancient Parisian charm and has been lovingly prepared for your visit to Paris, and we hope you will enjoy it.

The apartment is just steps from the magnificent Notre Dame cathedral and the river Seine, and in the other direction you'll find Place Maubert with its fresh food market three times per week, two supermarkets, cafes, restaurants and everything else you could hope for in a typically Parisian neighborhood.

The apartment features a new large queen bed (160 cm x 200 cm), as well as a small daybed in the bedroom area for lounging or for accommodating a child traveling with you. There is also a small armoire where you can unpack your belongings.

The spacious living area has a dining table for 4, a writing desk, a TV with a few English news channels, a telephone with free international calling to many destinations, and WiFi internet (with a modem you can plug directly into with an Ethernet cable if you prefer). The living area also has a closet with space for you to hang clothing and store your suitcases.

The full bathroom has a toilet, sink and a large bathtub with a wall-mounted shower attachment. The sink area has a medicine cabinet above it for storage of personal toiletries.

The kitchen has a bar area with two bar stools and is a great place to hang out and talk while cooking up a great meal with fresh food purchased in the neighborhood. The kitchen has all the important appliances: a refrigerator with a small freezer; a clothes washer/dryer combination unit; a dishwasher; a two-burner electric induction stove; an oven; a microwave and lovely granite countertops.

Towels and bed linens are provided, along with basic items like bath soap, clothes washing detergent, coffee, salt and pepper, and many other items to help you feel at home.

The apartment is located on the first floor French (second floor to North Americans) and does NOT have an elevator. You will need to walk up one flight of stairs (pictured).

Rue Maitre Albert is a small one-way street, right by the river Seine and Place Maubert. You will find this neigborhood has just about everything you could need! Our favorite is the fresh market three times per week just at the end of the street at Place Maubert.

The old-world charm of neighborhood is unquestionable, and for travelers visiting Paris, we think you'll find our apartment to be a fantastic home base!

Review of Paris Apartment

  • 3 of 5

The location was great. I emailed Ruben earlier and let him know when I would be arriving and I would call him a few minutes before we walked over there. He said he was not going to be able to be there and that Florence would be there at 3:00 and he was talking to her on the other line. We were waiting outside until 3:20. We walked over to the hotel and they(the hotel) called Ruben to let him know that we were waiting outside. He said she was late by five minutes. He could have told me that earlier when I called and spoke to him. He was not accommodating at all. Florence didn't explain how to get in the building or much of anything. I told her I would be washing clothes and how to work the washing machine. She never did. She said to read the manual they had. It is very different than what we have in the United States. When I tried to wash a load of clothes I did not program the dryer at the onset and that was a mistake. I did not know how to. The clothes washed three times and I could not get them to dry. I was very frustrated. I called Ruben twice and left messages. He never returned my calls. For some reason he never was a host that I had read about. Very disappointed. The place was clean but the noise and night was loud. You could hear people talking from the bedroom window. Every morning around seven there would be some noise that woke me up. I would not stay there again based on how Ruben was rude and uncaring. No customer service from Ruben.

Owner's Response: I am terribly sorry to hear that you had trouble reaching me during your stay! I strive to be a great host and apologize sincerely if I did not receive your voice messages. I have two cell phones and am on email every day of the week, so I try to make myself available to guests in every way possible. I apologize I could not meet you personally that day, but Florence has proven to be been well-liked as a greeter and is very helpful and when we have multiple groups of guests arriving at the same time. I will be contacting you directly to understand more about the problems during your stay and to ensure that any problems do not happen in the future. I am proud that we have had many positive reviews about this apartment, and we strive to keep it that way!

Great location

  • 5 of 5

The location of the apartment is terrific. It is one block from the Maubert Metro station and two blocks from Notre Dame. The surrounding area has everything you need: 2 grocery stores, patisseries, boulangeries, cheese and wine shops, 2 ATMs and a street market on Tues, Thursday, and Friday. We easily took the train from CDG airport to St Michel station, exited via sortie 6, up the elevator to Xavier Privas, next to the Seine and walked 550 yes to the apartment. Ruben was extremely organized with emails and information prior to our trip and very helpful when we arrived. The apartment was clean, relaxing and everything was in working order. We stayed 9 nights, cooked breakfast every morning, and cooked many dinners at the apartment.

Hidden Gem with Fabulous Rental Manager

  • 5 of 5

My 18-year-old daughter and I spent a week at the apartment. It's adoreable, on a quiet street, ideally located near 2 metro stops, the RER train, shopping, sight-seeing, etc. The apartment contains everything you need for an extended stay in Paris, along with a ton of Parisian charm - and I'm not just talking about Ruben! Ruben is a wonderful host, and very, very accomodating. The pictures and information provided are all accurate. We will stay here when we return, again. Need I say more?

A two week getaway at the center of all of Paris.

  • 5 of 5

Perfect place to call home while exploring this beautiful city. It's in the middle of an ancient, well worn and busy alley. A one minute walk brings you to the happening Place Maubert with it's cheese, meat, fish, wine, bakery, cafes, and the metro making all of Paris readily available. There is even a street market 3 days a week. A one minute walk in the other direction and its down to the Seine where you are across the river from Notre Dame.

Ruben is a gem. Answering questions and giving suggestions before and after we got there made the trip uncomplicated for us, first time Paris travelers.

We loved it and highly recommend this great apartment, great host and wonderful city!!!

Charming apartment in a fantastic location

  • 5 of 5

This apartment could not have been better for our first trip to Paris. The rooms were comfortably and thoughtfully furnished and the location was perfect. We loved opening the windows and hearing the cathedral bells tolling in the mornings! Notre Dame was a block away in one direction, and Place Maubert with its wonderful market and the Maubert-Mutualité Metro stop was a block in the other direction. It was nice to retreat to a quiet side-street in the evenings after the bustle of the city.

Ruben was extremely responsive from our first interaction to the last, as was his colleague Rhonda. A binder in the apartment was comprehensive, covering everything from instructions for the washing machine to sightseeing recommendations and emergency numbers. Having free long-distance calling to the US was very valuable as was having wi-fi.

Our time in the city was simply wonderful, and we'd love to come back again. Thanks Ruben!
