A perfect getaway in beautiful Meadows of Dan, Virginia. The 4000 square feet home features 3 large bedrooms with privacy, one king, one queen and two doubles, each with full private bath and tub, as well as door to the deck. It's just like having three master bedrooms.
The 1400 square feet great room has gas fireplace and huge windows to enjoy the 75 mile views from it's ridge location. Full kitchen features new refrigerator, Jenn-Air stove, coffee maker, dishwasher and microwave. You can play CD's and DVD's on the Bose 3.2.1 entertainment system.
House is located near North Carolina - Virginia border about 4 miles from the Blue Ridge Parkway. For those interested in wine and viticulture, Chateau Morrisette, Virginia's largest winery, and Villa Appalachia are within five miles of the property. Chateau Morrisette features musical festival throughout the summer, as well as free Sunday concerts on the grounds. No trip would be complete without a Friday night in Floyd. The Country Store is alive with flat footing and bluegrass bands form in the alleys and on corners. It is a must see.
Experience nature's gradeur from the expansive deck with it's long views. Spring is showy with Mountain Laurel and Rhododendron, summer abounds with the flowery garden and aviary acrobatics and fall is spectacular as color drifts down the mountains side.
Get out in nature with easy walks from the Parkway like Smart View or stroll down the well worn path beside in Rock Castle Gorge. An exhilarating hike to Buffalo Mountain (once owned by the Robet E. and Harry Lighthorse Lee's family) can be made on a well graded trail leading to the almost 4000 foot peak and expansive 360 degree view.
Visit Fairy Stone Lake and experience the only place to find the mystical Fairy Stone or sink your hook in the Keibler Valley for mountain trout. Bike the Virginia Creeper Trail, Galax Trail or Blue Ridge Parkway. Raft the Dan River and experience the Zip Line nearby. This area has it all.
Golfers, take a swing at Primland's Highland Course rated by Golf Digest as the best new public course in 2006. Add Olde Mills Golf Resort and Great Oaks in Floyd, all within 15 miles of the house.

We're a North Carolina guy and a Kentucky girl who lives in Florida and has a beautiful home in Virginia. And yes, I have done the impossible and converted a Kentucky girl to a Tar Heel basketball fan.
Bill Day purchased this house in 2005
While dating, we visited a Christmas Tree farm in Meadows of Dan and loved it. We decided to get married there and in looking for a minister, we also looked for land. We wanted long range views and finally found a lot in Edgeview Estates just off Belcher Mountain Road.
In 2005, I was hating my job and decided to try one more backpacking trip. Went to the Smokies and came out with a couple of days left on my vacation. I decided to go up to our lot and take a sunrise picture that I could put in my office to keep my spirits up. I drove in early one morning and set up the tripod and waited for the sun. It was okay, but not a trophy shot. Packed everything up and headed back up Belcher mountain. Between my comings and goings, someone had put a for sale sign in front of Laurel Point.
I met the owners at the house and it was a glorious day. I think I could see Canada. I was known as a fierce negotiator but I was putty in their hands. I knew I had to have that house. They came down a little and I offered them my sweaty handshake. It takes nerves to buy a house without your new bride having seen it. Obviously all is well that ends well.
We decided that the worst thing we could do with the house is just let it sit there. We're 11 hours away and are lucky to visit 2 or 3 times a year. So far we have had excellent guests and feel good about sharing our house.
Hope you come and visit. It's beautiful during the spring, cool in the summer and spectacular in the fall. Notice I didn't mention winter. A little too cool for this Tar Heel converted Floridian.
Backpacked for over 30 years in the Southern Appalachians and the view from the deck is in my top five.
From Guest Book: The house was everything you said it was and more. The
quiet was so relaxing and the views fantastic. My son and his wife absolutely
adored it (and kept saying they sure hope we were coming here again). We had
great fun at Oddfellas, the Woodberry Inn and Chateau Morrisette. We also had
great meals in the "Laurel Point Kitchen". Thanks so much for sharing your
We just returned from a visit to this wonderful house. We cannot say enough great things about it. Of course, the view is incomparable. Pictures cannot capture the beauty of the long-range views. I guarantee you will be mesmerized. The house itself is very nice -- clean, roomy, and comfortable. The bedrooms are arranged such that you will feel like you are in your own little retreat -- each one has a bath and is off by itself. The kitchen is well stocked with everything you need to cook just about anything. The house was immaculate. Cleanliness matters to us and you never know until you get there how things will be -- pictures can be deceiving. But this house was very clean and well-maintained (it is not a new house, but it is not very old either….) The carpet looked new as did the deck. The wood floors shined. The bathrooms were spotless. But the best thing about this rental is the owners. They really take good care of you - very attentive, lots of communication. We had one small problem -- we could not get the gas fireplace to light. (Stupid us -- the pilot light was out!) I e-mailed the owner and he called us right away! He offered to have someone come out and get the pilot light lit. (We refused mainly because we were embarrassed not to have noticed something so obvious and did not think it warranted having someone come to the house, but the owner would have arranged it had we asked.) The owners are just great to work with and give you complete confidence that your rental experience will be a positive one. All in all, this was the best VRBO experience I have had!
There are two star attractions with this rental: 1) the house itself is beautiful, comfortable, with lots of space and all of the creature comforts. The bedrooms are large and each has a bathroom. Two of the bedrooms have direct access to the back deck which leads us to the other attraction: 2) The View - I grew up in that part of Virginia with lots of trips to the parkway. I had never seen a view from the parkway that magnificent until our stay. Watching a thunderstorm move across the valley or clouds engulf everything but the mountain peaks was part of our daily routine. The only sound came from the birds in the day and cicadas at night. The property is very secluded and hummingbirds were the only other guests we saw all week.
Chateau Morrisette is a beautiful winery nearby that serves lunch/dinner most days. Floyd is also a lot of fun, especially on Friday nights with live bluegrass.
I have stayed at several cabins on the parkway and this was by far my favorite.
I would also like to mention that the owner is very engaged and strives to make sure your stay is pleasant. The week before we arrived, a power surge struck and fried a few of the major appliances as well as some circuits. Everything was repaired or replaced quickly and I know a lot of effort was required to get everything working again. I was kept informed and urged to report anything not working properly (but everything was great).
A truly memorable experience in this beautiful home. Well maintained and beautifully furnished, Laurel Point Villa served as the perfect central gathering spot for our family as we celebrated graduation. We woke to incredible sunrises and enjoyed the beautiful mountain views from the large deck as much as possible. We found it so comfortable and relaxing that it was difficult to want to leave to do anything else.
The owners were a great resource and provided exact directions and information regarding areas of interest and key importance. They were available by email and telephone to answer any questions prior to and during our stay which enabled me to plan well to accommodate our family of 12.
The house is as beautiful as the pictures, and I'm certain the views are spectacular in every season. We look forward to a return trip to Laurel Point Villa to see the beautiful fall leaves.
What a wonderful home we were able to enjoy while visiting the Meadows of Dan area. It totally suited the needs of the 3 couples that met at this location for a week's long vacation. The home is in a beautiful setting and was large enough that we were not stepping on each other. The remote location with it's winding, stone roads made site seeing a bit difficult, but the quality time in the home more than made up for it. The owners were readily available for any questions. GREAT, GREAT property.
This was one great house! We enjoyed it greatly. Felt right at home. It is a little ways away from any big town, however Meadows of Dan was a great little town. The view is one of the best! Better than any overlook on the "Blue Ridge Parkway", which is just minutes from the house.
If your in to Wine/Winery's....your in for a treat, there are several in the area. Most offer free wine tasting and tours. If you have never been, I recommend it.
Also lovely shops in Floyd , Stuart and Martinsville. We also went as far as Roanoke and Galax.
I hope to return to visit again. Cindy Theilacker
We just spent a relaxing Thanksgiving holiday in this wonderful slice of heaven. We have stayed in this property several times before and have always found it to be perfect. The house itself is immaculate and comfortable- large enough for everyone to have their own space. The views were spectacular, we got a light dusting of snow when we arrived, so the mountains were sparkling white. We enjoyed lunch and wine tastings at nearby Chateau Morissette, hiking around the property and beyond, and dancing at the Floyd Country Store on Friday night (a highly recommended activity, truly a unique and special experience).
In terms of the service we received from the owners, we could not have been more pleased. The owners went above and beyond to ensure that we had a great time, even sending someone out to replace a broken part on the fireplace so we could enjoy it during our stay. They genuinely took an interest in making sure our experience was a good one.
So, while we were sad to be leaving this beautiful place, we have already started planning our next visit. Truly a treat- highly recommend to anyone considering a visit to the Meadows of Dan.
