Our Garden Cottage VR is perfect retreat for a couple located only 2 blocks from beautiful Flathead Lake in Lakeside. Our unit features one bedroom with a queen-size cozy feather bed and a full bath plus a well-supplied kitchen, dining room and living room. Our VR has direct access to a covered red-wood deck furnished with comfortable patio furniture and propane BBQ which can be used during the winter as well as summer.
Our beautifully landscaped garden home includes a lily pond with great shade trees for summer comfort and a firepit with plenty of split fire-wood for that warm sit-around-the-fire glow in the winter. The relaxing and comfortable surroundings include TV, DVD player and micro-wave. Beach towels and beach chairs are available for your use. Home-made cookies and coffee are on the house. In July the raspberries are ripe and ready for your enjoyment to pick and eat as well as fresh herbs from the veggie garden. Wildlife is often seen beyond the fenced yard such as deer and wild turkeys along with song birds that come to the bird feeders. Hummingbirds love our back yard! July also brings the annual sweet cherry harvest where u-pickers are welcome in nearby orchards. Garden Cottage is close to public beaches and boat docks along with a local food market, post office, a Dairy Queen, gas stations, casinos. We are only 7 miles from great cross-country ski and snow-shoeing trails and only 14 miles from Blacktail Mtn offering priced-right down-hill ski passes for $36 per day (2012). Check out their facility at (www.blacktailmountain.com). Whitefish Mtn is 35 miles north of Lakeside and is a renown ski resort with great amenties. A favorite hill for day and night skiing
From the shores of Flathead Lake, you have majestic views of Glacier park and the Mission Mountains. For an incrediable summertime treat, experience a Montana sunrise over the lake sitting on the public dock (about a block away) with your morning coffee. For other summer-time activities Lakeside has a local boat rental shop renting water-skiing boats, pontoon boats, fishing boats and personal water-craft. Two fishing charter companies have boats departing from Lakeside giving you a chance to reel in some large lake trout (current record is 42 lbs) from Flathead’s crystal clear waters. Or bring your own boat as the public boat launch is only about a block from Garden Cottage. Flathead Lake is always refreshing on a hot day and we have two public beaches to enjoy within a short stroll of the VR. Volunteer Park offers diving docks, beaches, picnic tables plus a covered picnic area for your big events. (see pictures) You can take a drive to the top of Blacktail Mtn. for an unobstructed 360 degree view of Flathead Valley and the Mission Mountains. Blacktail Mtn. offers trails for hiking or biking and in late summer the huckleberries are ready to pick. At the Docks restaurant in Lakeside you can enjoy waterfront dining on an open patio plus great music. Tamarack Brewery produces finest hand-crafted ales to drink along with their food fare served on a creek-side deck. Glacier Park is one hour drive away where you can explore the Park by vehicle or on walking trails seeing wildlife up close plus amazing views on the Going-To-The-Sun Highway. In summer months Whitefish Mountain offers zip lines, Alpine Slide with sleds and an elevated boardwalk through the treetop canopy and a scenic ski-lift ride to the summit. Bigfork , a picturesque village about 20 minutes away, is home to world class art galleries, more fine restaurants and unique shops set in Western style. The Bigfork Summer Playhouse has been celebrated as one of the Northwest’s finest repertory theaters. Bigfork is home to the Eagle Bend golf course which is one of the most highly rated in the nation.

So much better than a hotel. After a long day of hiking it was nice to sit out on the deck to visit or read. Enjoyed our stay very much.
MY HUSBAND AND I LIVE IN LAKESIDE AND WORK IN THE FLATHEAD VALLEY. WE VACATIONED HERE FOR 10 YEARS UNTIL WE MOVED HERE PERMANENTLY. WE LOVE THE LAKE AND ALL IT OFFERS RECREATIONALLY.WE RESIDE ONE MILE FROM OUR VR SO WE ARE THERE IF YOU NEED US.
OUR VR IS WITHIN WALKING DISTANCE OF ALL THE LAKESIDE BUSINESSES I.E. FOOD MARKET, POST OFFICE, ATMS, RESTAURANTS PLUS THE PUBLIC BEACHES AND DOCKS.
