We live and work in Baltimore. We love the beach and fell in love with Chintoteague on visits in the early 1980s. We never get tired of hiking on Asseteague or boating the many creeks and channels surrounding Chincoteague with our two dogs.
We finally choose to buy the property on this beautiful site in 1988. It is one of the most protected harbors on the island with deep water at the dock and all the way to the inlet. We especially love the Southeast views. We have extensively renovated the house and added a second floor.
We like being able to ride our bikes to the Wildlife Refuge, then spend the afternoon at the beach or on an ocean fishing trip, and then visit the quaint downtown Chincoteague and restaurants all in one day.
The house is really too big for the two of us but we appreciate the space when we have family and friends over. Everyone can be together on the upper or lower deck or at the 10 ft table in the great room or spread out as they wish.
The property is three miles from Assateague National Wildlife Refuge, accessible by bicycle or car. The deep water dock is 15 minutes by boat from Chincoteague Inlet and access to the Atlantic Ocean. Chincoteague Island galleries, shops, and restaurants are easily accessible by bicycle or car. Chincoteague ponies can be viewed at the town pony center or in the wild on Assateague Island.
