Our Lakefront cabin is directly on beautiful Webber Pond. Vassalboro is about 8 miles north of Augusta which is the capital of Maine, located in the Kennebec Valley, Kennebec County. Our trip to Webber Pond with our grandsons

Submitted: October 22, 2012 Stayed: July 2012
This worked perfectly for us. I liked the fact there were tvs with stations, one story cabin, all walls are wood paneling, kitchen sufficient with everything needed for cooking, eating and a new grocery store in China, Maine. Also, plenty of space to park, price is good and location was perfect for us since our daughter and son-in-law live in Augusta. We have driven to Camden from another cabin we rented nearby and it didn't seem very far. We have taken sailboat rides there during the day and early in the evening. Also, go to the state park overlooking Camden. Beautiful views. As mentioned by others, there are activities in Augusta. We really wanted to just spend time with the boys and not do a lot of traveling on our visit last year. We had bought new kayaks for them. I would like to rent this cabin again if it is available and we do visit during the summer. Most of the cabins I have seen have been two stories and I enjoyed not having upstairs bedrooms. The property was clean. We enjoyed the gas grill. We love China Dinah Restaurant in China, Maine. My cousin from North Carolina thought it was Chinese food. It has everything and everything is good. I don't think they have Chinese Food. In Augusta, Margheritas is a very good Mexican Restaurant. Camden has many nice restaurants. If you like to go to restaurants nightly, this might not be the best choice. If you would like a lovely view of a lake that is said to be one of the best fishing lakes in Maine on a little peninsula without houses extremely close, you will like this house. The only negative comments is I did not find any of the chairs for the lawn very comfortable and fortunately, brought our own lawn chairs. The pictures are accurate. We needed to be closer than the deck to watch the boys in the water. They have nice metal chairs on the deck. The water side is mostly shaded all day. The pictures of the house side on the lake, the screen porch is a little strange looking but is probably helpful at times. The deck itself is nice. Coincidently, I just ordered a 11x14 picture looking through the trees at the lake. This cabin would work for a handicap person but they would need to travel in and out of the front of the house and it is a little bit of an incline to the lake. I really can't remember what size door the bathroom has which can be critical to a handicap person. A nice place to spend some quiet time.

Location, Location, Location Says It Best!

Nothing like Maine in the summer and nothing like being near the water with echoes of loons to wake you or while drifting to sleep.

Originally from Augusta and wanting to be close to where my 96 year old mother lives so I could visit, I was lucky enough to find a camp rental on Webber Pond with a million dollar view! Centrally located to Augusta and Waterville; excellent golfing within four miles; and great location for day-tripping to the mountains or the coast.

Camp was neat and clean and welcoming but a little too rustic for me. There is a difference between a camp and a cottage. (I’m a city gal)! Camps tend to carry a little musty odors mixed with gas from the stove (normal) a few ants and Daddy long legs (normal) and signs of other little critter! That is certainly no reflection on the owner as he and the management company were wonderful to deal with! Management company personnel were very responsive and quick to fix a few things and we were greeted with a nice welcome note.

Advertised listing is very honest and accurate. You will want to bring most of your needs (linen, towels, and other personal items, plus your favorite pots and pans, electric fry pan and/or crock pot). Remember there is no washer and dryer, so bring extra stuff. Be prepared for a “camp” experience (dim lighting, erratic cell service, and small screen TV). Camp is not elaborate but has very comfortable and spacious accommodations. Felt very comfortable and safe there. The real pluses, however, were great wireless connectivity, neat and clean, fans, plenty of ice in trays and hot water, full size refrigerator, nice new windows and doors, and great view from porch and fire pit areas.

Neighbors were delightful! On two separate occasions and two separate families, we were asked if we would like a boat ride and we have now made life-long friendships. You’ve got to be in the mind-set that this is a camp………and I emphasize a very nice one! Certainly enjoyed my stay, but I’m not a camp gal!

Thanks for opening your camp to us and continued success and enjoyment!

Nice Camp

5 of 5
Submitted: July 26, 2012 Stayed: July 2012
We really enjoyed our visit at your camp/cottage. I was pleased to see it was an older cottage. The picture of the deck makes it look a little odd but it is a very nice summer camp. We like for our grandsons to experience what it might have been like to visit a camp years ago. The property is shaded most of the day. The cottage was very clean when we arrived. There was a whole set of pots and pans. We did not use them but they looked very nice. We enjoyed the grill on the deck. We have rented cottages before where there were no linens or an extra charge. I brought linens, towels, and beach towels but with the exception of the towels, the sheets and towels were acceptable but , you will want extra towels. .

We had not been on Webber Pond before but it is a beautiful lake. A fisherman who was trolling told me it is the best lake he has found in Maine to fish. The interior looks exactly like the pictures. I was impressed with all the real wood paneling. The owner was very nice when I contacted via e-mail. I would recommend this property to family and friends. It is priced well. We did not travel to the coast on this visit but we have gone to Camden for sailboat rides in previous years. If you haven't seen Camden, it is a beautiful town and be sure to go to the state park and look down at Camden. It is an incredible view.

It was unusally hot the first part of the week we were there and the two fans are not very big We bought two fans at the Dollar Store on Hwy 3. We also like that area and did our grocery shopping at Hannaford's in China, Maine We also went to our old favorites of China Dinah Restaurant and Greg's Diner. Greg makes the best raspberry pancakes. The last part of the week we had very cool nights and it was really nice. I think it is as close to China as Augusta. Also, go to Husseys (near Hwy 3 the same turn as Hannaford's Grocery near China). It is hard to describe except to say they sell everything, groceries, appliances, wedding dresses. Their meats are very good. I've almost forgot the most important thing, This cottage is on a little peninsula No close neighbors. Priceless. Enjoy!

Webber pond

Unfortunately we did not have a good experience at this cabin in august 2011. Cabin was dirty as were the dishes. Only two burners worked on stove and coffee maker did not work at all. No ice maker as suggested. Mold in bathroom and some rotten wood in bath floor were unfavorable. Cookware was lacking (one skillet, one pot). Very poor lighting but tv did work and view was great. Screened porch needs some work to keep bugs out but setting was fine and we enjoyed the view if not the cabin.
Owner's Response: We would like to extend our greatest apologies for not having an outstanding stay at our cabin. We strive to meet everyone's expectations for their stay with us. If anyone experiences a problem please contact us immediately as we will do everything we can to correct a problem as we have done in the past. We take this opportunity to make the necessary corrections to prevent a future issue, as everyone can see we have received great reviews in the past and we will continue to strive and meet or exceed your expectations. Don't forget to enjoy the view and just relax!

My family stayed for a week at this camp this summer. We really enjoyed it. It is very secluded and had a nice fire pit right on the water. Beautiful views and sunrises. It is hard to find camps with two tvs; good phone service and even internet access! Very helpful for those of us who want to get away but be able to connect if we have to. Thanks so much for sharing this gem with us!
