Fabulous Family Gathering Spot
Our week here was the perfect place for our houseful of varied interests. Conveniently located to resort amenities, as well as off-site fun.
Even before our arrival, all questions/emails were promptly answered by Shig, this property's rental manager. Even odd/random questions were handled with ease, and the payment process helpful and straightforward. There is no pre-vacation stress of details with Shig, as he handles everything smoothly. Upon arrival, Maya, Shig's wife, helped immensely with our first-day questions and needs. They are an obvious natural partnership and live close by for prompt attention. They are friendly, personable, and happy people who love Mauna Lani life & love to share that feeling.
The large upstairs area opens the kitchen, (very well equipped) to the living, dining, and extensive lanai. The view up the Kohala Mountains and Mauna Kea is like a "pinch me" painting, both as the sun rises and at sunsets. There is not a memory in that house that did not involve opening up the room-wide wall of patio doors (with AC off!) connecting the yummy cooking aromas inside, or from the lanai grill, with the Kohala breezes outside. Huge, gorgeous dining table fit our 8 plus 3 guests. Connect your Hawaiian music on your own iPod to the sound system, and you've got the full resort lifestyle.
Bedrooms are large, clean, with an extensive supply of beach towels. Bathrooms are beautiful. Laundry! Yes!! Pools are a convenient 1-minute walk around a corner, but away without noise.
Foodland is convenient for 2-min. drives or 10-min. walks for paper and coffee. The Mauna Lani Shops are fun for new clothes, equipment rentals, top restaurants & occasional Sunday/Fundays learning hula & language. Mauna Lani Hotel is a great destination for watching the sun sink in for its nightly Pacific Ocean bath, complete with hammocks and soft sand. Fairmont is a classy destination for an 8-minute walk in the other direction.
Yet the star amenity is the Mauna Lani Beach Club. In five minutes you are parked, carrying towel and sunscreen, finding a lounge chair either on the bright sand with palm trees, or the mezzanine of grass in treed shade Refresh yourself in the calm waters of the cove swimming, or doing some amazing snorkeling (parrot fish & honu!). Then shower off, grab a Mai Tai up at the Grill Restaurant & sit back to nap with a view, pretend to read that book, plan dinner in or out. It's all there.
Planning our return!
Mahalo Shig & Maya!
