Tough Stay

Spent two weeks at this condo. Only thing really worth it was having the fishing pier so close. Owner hasn't put a dime into this place since he bought it 20 years ago. TV in the bedroom has to be 14". You can't even see it too well when lying on the bed. The living room TV has to be 15 years old with a horrible picture. Kitchen has absolutely nothing in it. Had to go out and buy a couple of pans just so we could cook in the place. Attempted to contact the owner via e-mail to inform him of the problems. The only time he ever responded back to me was when he originally rented the place to us. The real estate company he has do the work was very accommodating. They informed me that they would reimburse us for the items purchased but we thought it was not their fault. Spent the last three summers in Sanibel with my three kids but would never stay here again.

Owner's Response: I am totally amazed at this renter's wizardry....he has been to Sanibel the past 3 years , yet knows all the history of this condo for the last 20 years...many years before we even owned the condo ??...LOL. I have to ask myself why this individual stayed at our condo, since he has a cousin who owns a unit at Mariner Pointe ? Why a review almost 8 months after your stay ? We even gave him a substantial discount from the regular rate. This "banned" renter now takes an offensive tactic by leaving a scathing review after breaking a 26' wrap around curtain pull, and damaging 2 closet doors for over $325 in repairs. Claims he's been here 3 years, yet he knows that a 5 year old living room TV is 15 years old...Also knows that an 18" TV is 14"..Our competent management company checks every condo to be sure everything is in place and in working order prior to a guests arrival.....utensils, cookware, glassware, silverware, linens..etc. Within the past 4 years all appliances, mattresses, living room, carpeting, sliding doors & screens have been replaced. The kitchen is fully stocked with 6 pans of various sizes, I guess not good enough for this gourmet chef. Further, he NEVER contacted me by email (would love to have him provide these emails), mail or phone about any problems. In fact, if one takes the time to view the VRBO site...my response to all emails from renters or inquiries is 100% ..He contacted our management company with a fabricated complaint of no pans, and wanted his security deposit returned to him immediately....I guess he didn't want to lose his deposit before we got in to find the damage that was done ! Unfortunately we never recouped a penny for damages !!...MARINER POINTE OWNERS BEWARE !! STAY AWAY FROM THIS GUY, NAMED " JOHN S." ..That is unless you want him and his family to come in and damage your condo..... I will provide his full name on request.

Fisherman's Dream

C\This is a spacious condo in very nice condition..all kitchen items provided, linens, etc..Beautiful views of the bay. Had a minor problem with a bedroom TV but was quickly taken care by the management company...That being said..this is truly a fisherman's dream, fishing pier is located right outside the condo door....Fish very abundant at this time of year..have ebooked for next year !!

Great vacation

The unit was clean and had all the basics. The fishing pier was right off the lanai, so my son loved it. They caught sheepshead, Spanish mackerel, shovel head shark, crab and catfish off the pier. My daughter loved that the dolphins came to play multiple times a day. We also saw a manatee with it's baby out by the pier. We found some awesome shells and a starfish at low tide at the beach by the boat launch. The unit does have wifi. The master bedroom bed was comfortable, but the twin beds in the guest room squeak when you roll over and you can feel the springs in them.

The location was great and since traffic can be hard to get through on Periwinkle Way, we rented bikes to get around on the island.

We had a great vacation and hope to visit again. Thank you for sharing your unit with us!
