Guestbook comments from the owner
We came over from the UK for our son's wedding and were provided with a home from home.

We were made very welcome and were provided with everything that we needed to make our stay as wonderful and memorable as possible.

Hopefully, some time in the future, we will be back to visit Maine and our new in-laws, and Puffins Cove would be our location of choice to stay for that visit.

After a rewarding career in clinical/pharmaceutical research, I am now a retired entreprenuer. I love Maine, its beauty and all it has to offer, especially here along the MidCoast. I love to paint in watercolor, garden, spend time with my grandchildren and meet interesting new people.

G. Barreto purchased this apartment in 2005

We came to Mid-Coast Maine on vacation one summer, and fell in love with the historic, picturesque town of Thomaston and its friendly and welcoming residents. We were also impressed by the abundance and richness of the activities one could avail. At a later date, we found this wonderful, majestic 5 bedroom home set on a small hill on ¾ acres and decided to purchase it. We wanted to share our home as a vacation rental, so people could experience all that the Mid-Coast has to offer, with its live performances, live music, museums, art galleries and festivals abundant in downtown Thomaston, Rockland, & Camden and other surrounding areas of Mid-Coast Maine. In 2010, I began renovations to convert the second floor into an apartment with its own private entrance.

This exquisite apartment, has all the modern conveniences, is centrally located and perfect for the vacation or corporate traveler that needs easy access to Downtown Thomaston, Rockland, Camden and surrounding mid-coast areas. Situated near the border between Rockland and Thomaston and with easy access to Route 1, you are in Rockland in a couple of minutes. It is also walking distance to the library, churches, grocery store, café/restaurant, lounge bar, post office and shops.

FELT JUST LIKE HOME...

  • 5 of 5
My family and I stayed there for 4 evenings during our vacation.
The home was very welcoming and very well equipped.
Since we had a cooler full of groceries we only needed to relax as if we were home.
The beds were comfortable and the Layout was great.
I would definitely go again, the area was close by to everything needed.

WONDERFUL STAY IN MAINE

  • 5 of 5
This place is perfect! This was our second visit to Puffins Cove. The apartment is clean, spacious, and convenient to all the beautiful spots on the mid-coast of Maine. Our host was warm and hospitable, and gave us good ideas for places to take our young boys. Wish we could have stayed longer! Highly recommend!

WONDERFUL MID-COAST ACCOMMODATIONS!

  • 5 of 5
We've been vacationing in Maine for many years and can honestly say this was one of the most comfortable, homey and well equipped accommodations we've rented. It was quite spacious and very clean, both inside and on the well maintained grounds. The kitchen was well equipped for cooking and the large bathroom even contained a washer and dryer.

The location was ideal for accessing many of the mid-coast points-of-interest, including museums in Rockland and Owls Head, day sailing out of Rockland and Camden, local parks and scenic sites. The beautiful and historic Montpelier, home of Henry Knox first Secretary of War under George Washington sits within view of Puffins Cove. We had an interesting tour of this home where Knox lived from 1795 to 1806. Our host provided lots of helpful information about the area attractions, restaurants and seasonal events.

We had a wonderful stay at Puffins Cove and would recommend highly!

OUR STAY AT PUFFIN'S COVE

Our stay at Puffin's cove
  • 5 of 5
This was our first visit to Maine, for a wedding. My husband and I shared the apartment with our son and daughter-in-law and had enough space to be very comfortable together. We had shared and private spaces, which was wonderful. The amenities are tremendous-all we needed were clothes and food. The location was perfect for us. In fact, the entire situation was ideal. Grizel was an excellent hostess, being helpful but not in the way. Would I rent again? Definitely a huge YES.

MAINE TRAVELER

  • 5 of 5
Our stay with Grizel was excellent. She offers a lovely, spacious apartment with all the amenities a traveler could hope for. The bed in the master was very comfortable and we used the washer/dryer several times thus permitting us to bring fewer clothes. The apartment is immaculate, which was a delight as we had to leave a cabin in NH because the owners had done nothing to make it presentable. Grizel shares all the information about her part of the Maine coast and makes getting around aseasy as possible for her renters to have a good, fun, uncomplicated vacation. Thomaston is well located along the coast to visit cities such as Rockland, Camden, Port Clyde, and Lincolnville. Don't miss the ferry to Monhegan Island from Port Clyde if you like to hike. The island is beautiful. Grizel leaves a great deal of material to get you oriented and ready to have a fun Maine adventure. We loved our time with her.

I enjoyed having you as guests and look forward to your next visit.
