About Alisse Heine

The property owner, is a ceramic artist specializing in porcelain. She is from the San Francisco Bay Area. After searching for a weekend getaway and studio, she and her husband came across this charming cottage and bunkhouse just around the corner from town. Having fallen in love with the town they have since moved to Uphill Ranch in Pescadero full time. Lou maintains a ceramic studio on the property.

Alisse Heine purchased this cottage in 2006

Why Alisse Heine chose Pescadero

Pescadero seems a million miles away, yet it is easily accessible to San Francisco, Santa Cruz and San Mateo. The town remains an unspoiled coastal gem.

What makes this cottage unique

Pescadero is a diverse community including farmers, cowboys, retirees, teachers, musicians, ranchers, hi tech professionals, scientists, movers and shakers, artists, writers, vintners, brewers, and a host of others. Everyone couldn't be more friendly and helpful.

Watching the sunrise and sunset bathe the hillside in light is a constant reminder of how beautiful life can be if you just take a moment to enjoy.

In addition, Pescadero is a community rich in agriculture. We are lucky to enjoy the bounty of local, organic, farm fresh produce all year long.

Perfect cottage, great get-away

  • 5 of 5

We opted to make the Pescadero Cottage and Bunkhouse our vacation destination after my son's wedding in Berkeley. It worked out perfectly for 2 couples. We took day trips down the coast and were always happy to return to the cottage. Loved the little town. Great food, great wine, happy hours in the back yard, lovely wood burning stove. It was all charming. We would definitely go back again. Lou and her family were incredible hosts! (The lovely bottle of wine and chocolates on arrival were such a treat)

Charming Getaway for Valentine's weekend

  • 5 of 5

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Cottage which was well appointed with all the necessities and close to downtown Pescadero. Lou was very helpful and included delicious chocolates and bottle of wine plus complimentary wine-tasting. We really enjoyed the use of the croquette set on the lawn for evening tournement play at happy hour and in the evenings the cozy warmth of the wood-burning stove with plentiful firewood close by. There were a couple glitches with confirmations along the way but this was more a VRBO-issue than Lou's interaction. We'll def be back and may try the Bunkhouse! Love Pescadero and Duarte's

We enjoyed our stay at the Bunkhouse. It was very convenient to our family gathering. The room was comfortable. We would have liked having a refrigerator

Amazing home and location

  • 5 of 5

I rented both the cottage and bunk house for my family for a weekend when we went to Pescadero for my sister's wedding. Everything about the property is so well taken care of. The garden is beautiful and the units are decorated with the most amazing collection of art work, that I could spend hours just admiring all of it. The cottage and bunk house was thoughtfully stocked with some drinks and snacks, which came in really handy when we were racing around without time to grab a bite. The beds were so comfortable too. Thank you so much for sharing your beautiful home with us. I was so happy that everybody in my group was ecstatic with the place, and loved it. We will definitely be back. Thanks Lou. It was so nice meeting you.

Great Stay in Pescadero

  • 5 of 5

The house was so cozy, it was just what we were looking for. It is close enough to town to walk and pick up the tasty pastries from the bakery, but it is on the opposite side from the highway coming in, so it is quiet and has country charm.

Miss managed

  • 5 of 5

Had a wonderful stay, the house was nice, enjoyable and clean, but the property manager wasn't ontop of her job. I never received any confirmation of how to get into the house, I had called her 20 times letting her know I needed this information and she not once called me or replied to my emailes. We had to talk to neighbors and do investigation to get the owners phone # to get the code for a key, so that was a bit nerve wrecking, and un professional on the property managers side, especially when I prepaid $700 for two nights

Owner's Response: Rob, I'm glad that you enjoyed your stay in the Cottage, however, I do want to clarify the misunderstandings. I emailed your address provided on Tuesday with detailed instructions and returned your phone call on Wednesday morning. I did not hear back from you and assumed you had received the instructions to check in. After speaking with your wife on Saturday after you had arrived, I sent a follow-up email to you and again did not hear back. I'm not sure if my emails are being shuffled in to a spam folder of yours, but I encourage you to look again. Not to mention, I am home with a 2 month old baby. While it shouldn't be your concern, you might agree that it can present a challenge in keeping up with everyday tasks. I apologize for any unnecessary stress you may have experienced, and ask that you please reconsider labeling this rental as "mismanaged." In the three years of managing this rental, guests have been extremely satisfied with their experiences, as you can see in our other reviews. Thank you, Lea.
