CHARMING 1BR BEACH COTTAGE ON PLEASURE POINT -- WIFI, DOGS, + OFF STREET PARKING

Pleasure Point Cottage Rental Photos and Description

Warming 1BR beach cottage, 3 blocks to beach + short drive to the board walk!!!

East Cliff Drive, only a block and a half away, is partially blocked off for pedestrians. It’s a great place to: Walk your dog, ride your bike, or sit on the bench and watch the surfers, feel the fresh air, eat your lunch and listen to the crashing waves.

two and a half blocks to the pounding surf. The air is fresh; and, the scenery is spectacular. This darling little attached cottage on Pleasure Point, in Santa Cruz provides an affordable, comfortable, very private retreat. Your dog is welcome to come along. We have a great enclosed yard for her/him; and, the neighborhood is dog friendly. As an added bonus, we even provide off street parking!

Pleasure Point Cottage has its own kitchen, equipped with pots, pans, dishes, coffee pot, micro wave, gas stove, refrigerator and dining area.

A comfy queen size bed is prepared with fresh linens and is ready for a good night's sleep on the main floor. An additional double size bed, in a sleeping loft above the kitchen, can be accessed by a stationary ladder. We also have sleeping mats and extra bedding available if needed. Because of its size and configuration, the cottage is not appropriate for small children or for entertaining; but, it is perfect for individuals and couples at a very reasonable rate.

The bathroom, is in the center of the cottage; it has a shower; fresh towels and a hair dryer.

Utilities, Wi-Fi and cable TV, water, waste management are provided. The cottage has its own fenced back yard with a large, private patio, barbeque and picnic table. The gardener comes by weekly to maintain the plant life. A shed in the back yard is a good spot for storing your surf board, bike or extra luggage.

Have you ever been to a Sand Castle Building Contest? Our cottage is in prime location for the festivities. Or, perhaps you'd like to attend the Shakespeare Festival at the UC Campus. Whatever it may be, we will be sure to provide you with the essentials of home so you can relax and maximize your enjoyment of everything Santa Cruz has to offer!

If you have the time to venture a little further, Santa Cruz County has 29 miles of beaches to explore: Twin Beach, and Castle Beach, are all near the Santa Cruz Wharf. Driving south you will find Manresa Beach, La Selva, Capitola Beach, Seacliff Beach (sunken cement ship), Seascape Beach, and Sunset Beach (romance ). Driving North of the Santa Cruz Harbor, you will discover Light House Field State Beach ( good surfing and great place to walk dogs), Natural Bridges (observe Monarch butterflies), Wilder Ranch Beach (historic site), Davenport Beach (tiny town with a good bakery),and Four-mile Beach (known for beach parties), Scotts Creek Beach, (a favorite for beach combing ) Wadell Creek Beach, a (a good spot for wind-surfing) Bonny Doon Beach and Red-white-blue (clothing is optional). Come and discover how many beaches you can find to leave your foot prints in the sand!

Visit the UCSC Campus, the Marine Lab, the Monterey Bay Aquarium, the 'Seventeen Mile Drive' between Monterey and Carmel, or play a round of golf.

There are plenty of places in Santa Cruz County to end the day with a glass of wine and a fresh plate of seafood. The pier at the Boardwalk is one favorite places to toast the sunset. In Capitola, the Shadow Brook Restaurant is one of our favorites. Fragrant gardens and rustic creek-side location add much to the ambience, not to mention a quaint cable car that takes you down to the restaurant and lounge with live guitar music and happy hour.

Lorraine, your place is absolutely wonderful with everything we could ever need. I really love the loft. I slept like a baby. Just wanted to let you know how much I appreciate what you have done with the place. You optimized the space very well. We will truly enjoy ourselves. It will be hard to leave. Thank you so much.

After teaching for thirty-four years and maintaining cars, airplanes and properties for even longer, we have become 'snow birds'. Creating 'home' along the west coast has been a life long passion. This Pleasure Point Cottage is one of our favorites. It's a place we enjoy coming to for sheer relaxation: The mild climate, the fresh air, the pounding surf, fine food, long leisurely walks, and beautiful scenery.

Lorraine Heng purchased this cottage in 1979

We love the ambience, especially the fresh ocean air and natural beauty of Monterey Bay with its powerful surge of ocean waves on the beach. There is a wealth of outdoor activities here, and access to San Francisco peninsula is easy from the Santa Cruz area.

Where else in the world can you, walk out your front door and down the street a couple of blocks to go surfing, comfortably stroll so many beaches, walk the dog through the Light House Field or along the marshes, go deep sea fishing or sailing, go hiking or ride horseback through the nearby redwood forests; or go kayaking in the Elk Horn Slough? A continuing favorite is to watch the otters, birds and sea lions play in the estuary while enjoying a fine fish dinner at Moss Landing as the sun sets.

PLEASURE POINT BEACH COTTAGE HIDDEN CAPITOLA GEM WITH SECRET GARDEN

  • 5 of 5
We've stayed in this wonderful property several times over the past few years, each experiance improved over the previous visit. What had been a cute funky Capitola cottage has been lovingly and carefully refurbished with attention to detail and comfort. Morning coffee in the hidden garden outside the bedroom was a great way to begin the day. Downtown Capitola is an easy walk along the wonderful sea cliffs. There are always surfers at the point. The photos do not fully show the inside charm of the property but the description is accurate. Lorraine and Virgil are a pleasure to work with, helpful and very responsive. Clam chowder at the end of the Capatola pier is a great inexpensive lunch.

25TH ANNIVERSARY

  • 5 of 5
The cottage was the perfect place to spend our 25th anniversary. It was walking distance to the beach and our dog loved the back yard. We believe it is well worth the price and are planning our next visit.

CUTE & COMFORTABLE

Cute & comfortable
  • 3 of 5
My review is really more about preferences. The cottage is cute. The bed is a queen and is comfortable if you like soft beds. My husband likes a firm bed and did not sleep well during our 3 nite stay. The kitchen was fine, it has 1 of most anything you need. The bedroom/living area was very comfortable and plenty of room for the 2 of us...it would be crowded and awkward to have more than 2 people stay here. The living room and bedroom are in the same room. There it's a loft with a double bed in it, but you might hit your head on the ceiling if you were to sit up in the middle of the night. You enter directly into the eating area/ kitchen. The only negative ( & it is a BIG negative for me) is the bathroom. It splits the bedroom/living room & the kitchen. It is exceptionally small! Counter space was 1foot long by 6 inces wide. You can literally wash your hands while sitting on the toilet out there is about 2 1/2 feet between the toilet and the sink cabinet. The shower is 3 feet by 3 feet. With my back against the wall, I could put my hand flat on the opposite wall. I am 5'5". This made shaving and moving very difficult. The water pressure was very slow, kinda like a rain shower, which I do not like in the least. I like a steady strong shower. So over all I give it 3 1/2 stars. We probably won't stay here again, but it does have everything you need, is 2 blocks from the ocean, and the backyard patio and look of the outside of the cottage is adorable. Lorraine was very kind and helpful and we received our deposit back within 5 days of returning.

IT WAS ALL I'D HOPED IT WOULD BE AND MORE!

It was all I'd hoped it would be and more!

I enjoyed my stay at the cottage. It was all I'd hoped it would be and more.
I live in SF so I loved the privacy of that back unit.
I also appreciated being trusted as a responsible dog owner without
all sorts of rules being stated because they are assumed anyway.
I hope to return.

PRIVATE AND DELIGHTFUL

  • 5 of 5
The listing was very accurate and maybe even down played the charm of the cottage. If you're a surfer it's easily walking distance to Pleasure Point and 38th. The place is not fancy but its clean, cozy and felt very private. The owners were also thoughtful is appointing the property. For example, in the living area, the lights are exactly in spots you might want to curl up and read a book. My communication and experience with the owner was helpful and pleasant. They were one of the few owners I spoke with that made me feel sincerely comfortable about bringing my dog - which of course made me want to be even more considerate of their property! Anyway, I had a wonderful time and was pleasantly surprised at how well the owners have set up their property. I will most certainly be back.
