A Splendid Place in the Treetops.

This rental was exactly as advertised. Nestled in the trees on a quiet back road overlooking the Houstatonic River, the house is in two discreet sections, connected by a series of outdoor decks and stairs and bordered on either side by two small waterfalls. The main house is well set up; the kitchen is cozy but fully functional, the soapstone stove kept us warm, and the screened-in porch off the front was a special treat since the weather was beautiful (and unexpectedly warm) during our stay. We especially liked the master bedroom way upstairs, with its own deck overlooking the larger of the two waterfalls. The queen bed is firm, and the hot water plentiful. We did not spend much time in the guest house, nor did we make use of the dry sauna; we'll leave those for a return visit with friends or family.
The place is well-appointed as for the basics, and it was clean and tidy for our arrival. Be forewarned, however: those looking for electronic connectivity (internet, cable, etc), the rental has only the minimum. Since we were not, it did not matter. Rather, we spent much of the time just walking with our dog -- up the river road to Kent School or down all the way to the covered bridge at the south end. It's a great spot too for bicycling, and Dustin graciously offered his for our use.
Finally, Dustin was delightful to work with. He was prompt in his correspondence, organized and responsive. We will return and we will recommend this property to our friends.
