Seculuded forest retreat

Submitted: March 19, 2013 Stayed: March 2013
We had a group of 10 staying at the house for a quiet weekend getaway, which this house was a perfect location for. Everything was exactly as advertised and the house was quiet and secluded, although within easy driving distance of stores and civilization in Kent. We arrived the day after a late season snowfall, and the snow cover and gushing waterfall provided a beautiful backdrop for the weekend. The one downside is that there was a problem with the water system, in that the pressure was extremely low, but in order to fix it it was necessary to bypass the filter so that the water then had sediment in it. But overall this was not a major problem and the whole weekend was well worth the price.

Quiet, comfortable country house

We could not have been happier with our stay near Kent. The secluded place is surrounded by exquisite beauty. The gentle sound of water trickling down the rocks behind the property adds a wonderful ambiance. Three different fireplaces--two inside, one outside--offer plenty of places to get cozy. The dry sauna was a great addition, with the autumn weather getting a bit chilly. We went for a hike on the Appalachian Trail, drove into town to gander at the boutique shops, took a bike ride to see the covered bridge and water falls. Despite living on the other side of the country, we might try to visit Kent again soon!

Heaven on the Housatonic

If you're looking for a lot of privacy and a lot of nature, you can't beat this spot. My wife and I spent a week at this wonderful sanctuary. It's just steps from the Housatonic river and the Appalachian trail head is just down the road. If you crave a little civilization or don't feel like cooking, the charming village of Kent is just minutes away.

A GREAT Getaway Destination

We couldn't have been more pleased with this cottage. Beautiful scenery, very well appointed, and secluded. We didn't need anything but food and drink. Everything else was provided by Dustin. The price was excellent. I would recommend this place 100% to anyone, and we are already looking to return for another stay. The people of Kent we super friendly, especially at the Ice cream parlour, and Belgique Chocolatiers (mmm, the Mocha).

A Splendid Place in the Treetops.

Submitted: November 23, 2011 Stayed: November 2011
This rental was exactly as advertised. Nestled in the trees on a quiet back road overlooking the Houstatonic River, the house is in two discreet sections, connected by a series of outdoor decks and stairs and bordered on either side by two small waterfalls. The main house is well set up; the kitchen is cozy but fully functional, the soapstone stove kept us warm, and the screened-in porch off the front was a special treat since the weather was beautiful (and unexpectedly warm) during our stay. We especially liked the master bedroom way upstairs, with its own deck overlooking the larger of the two waterfalls. The queen bed is firm, and the hot water plentiful. We did not spend much time in the guest house, nor did we make use of the dry sauna; we'll leave those for a return visit with friends or family.

The place is well-appointed as for the basics, and it was clean and tidy for our arrival. Be forewarned, however: those looking for electronic connectivity (internet, cable, etc), the rental has only the minimum. Since we were not, it did not matter. Rather, we spent much of the time just walking with our dog -- up the river road to Kent School or down all the way to the covered bridge at the south end. It's a great spot too for bicycling, and Dustin graciously offered his for our use.

Finally, Dustin was delightful to work with. He was prompt in his correspondence, organized and responsive. We will return and we will recommend this property to our friends.
