|Minimum Stay||7 nights|
Kick back and put your feet up on the front deck and enjoy watching the boats come in and out of Lewis Bay Harbor. Our 3 bedroom (sleeps 6) cottage is just 100 yards from Bay View Beach and is located in a lovely residential neighborhood. Walk one street over to see luxury yachts and enjoy waterfront dining at Tugboats located in Hyannis Marina. It's a short walk to the Steamship Authority Ferry which brings you to the island of Nantucket.
When our daughter was younger, we couldn’t believe all the “stuff” we needed to take with us on vacation. So, we have a highchair, jumperoo and a pack & play for our youngest guests at no charge. Just one less thing you have to pack on your vacation!
This is No smoking cottage, No pets, No groups or parties.
The SOUTH side of the Bay View Cottage has three upstairs bedrooms each having a double bed plus a full bathroom. You have great views of the water from 2 of the 3 bedrooms. The living room and dining room also have water views and the kitchen is fully equipped. We also have an outdoor shower that has hot and cold water to wash off the sand after a long day at the beach.
You're 1-1/2 miles from Ocean Street in Hyannis where you’ll find all the boats to the islands of Nantucket and Martha’s Vineyard. You can also find 4 hour deep sea fishing trips and an one hour cruise of Lewis Bay including the Kennedy Compound. While you are on Ocean Street you can enjoy the wonderful restaurants.
You are minutes from Main Street in Hyannis where there are more restaurants and shopping. You can also play miniature golf or take a lovely ride on the Cape Cod Railroad which is located minutes from the cottage. You can also catch a concert or children's play on Wednesday mornings at the Melody Tent. On a rainy day you can enjoy the Cape Cod Mall, antiquing or going to the flea markets!
Just as described, Matt had provided nearly everything we could have needed for a "home base" to use for our week of exploring Cape Cod. Although we did see several of the bigger beaches on the cape, it was very nice to be able to make the short walk down the street to Bayview Beach. The cottage was plenty of room for just the two of us, but could easily accommodate 6 people. However, realize there is only one bathroom for ladies to get ready in the morning, but plenty of mirrors all throughout the house. Great assortment of maps/menus/local magazines, and when we arrived Matt was there to give us a thorough tour of the house and make sure we were comfortable. We were able to easily walk to the steamship authority's ferry for a daytrip to Nantucket. Also within walking distance are several restaurants around the marina. Thanks for a great vacation!
This was our first visit to this cottage. We have stayed many years on the other side of the harbor and we found this cottage while riding around Hyannis. We were lucky to rent the south side with the beautiful view of the beach, lovely breezes and a feeling of homey comfort that really made our week long stay very enjoyable. We loved sitting on the porch. The neighborhood is wonderful and safe to walk in and loved the "Green Whale"...you'll have to find it! It was also only a short walk to Tugboats restaurant - which we also love.
Definitely looking forward to staying here again. Patty and Matt are very gracious hosts, very accommodating and eager to please. The cottage was spotless when we moved in. We had nothing we had to buy once we moved in. The layout was nice and roomy for the two of us but it would easily fit 6 just as comfortably. Two decks, clothesline, outside shower, it is all here. There was even a nice collection of books and games available for you!
The cottage is far enough away from main areas that you have a nice quiet area to live but close enough to the main attractions and routes so that you can get to anything quickly. It is even just down the road from the hospital if you ever need it!
We cannot wait to be able to come back again and again. A GREAT find!
We were looking for a cottage that would comfortably fit us and our baby girl for a few days to relax in Cape Cod. This house was perfect! Patty was incredibly helpful before our stay, and flexible on dates (she was able to let us stay a few extra nights as we really didn't want to leave!!), and she gave us detailed info on how to get there.
The house itself is very pretty, with a full kitchen (great coffee machine), cosy downstairs lounge area and a lovely table on the porch with a view of the beach (at the end of the street). The location is great for families, you are a very short walk from the local beach (which has swings to play on) and then it's a longer walk or short drive to the high street, beach and marina in Hyannis.
Patty was a charming host, she made us feel very welcome, gave us useful tips on local beaches and attractions - and she even babysat for us!
Very highly recommended!
We came from France to spend a week in Patty & Matt's house, and we have been nothing but delighted.
The house is very charming, with 1 master bedroom & 2 others smaller. It was clean, nice to live in - & perfectly located at 100 m from a quiet little beach near Hyannis marina (where lots of boat activites can be done & reached by foot: pirats boat for the kids, sailing, ferries to nantucket & martha's vineyard, whale watching, etc).
Patty & Matt, the owners, were very nice & helpful, and, I believe, really wish you spend a nice stay.
We really were sorry to leave the house!
'An utterly charming Cape Cod Cottage'
We have had the good fortune to have rented both sides of this cottage for many years. The South side can accommodate 6 people comfortably, the smaller North side 3 people. Both sided are very well maintained by Patty & Matt and have all the amenities that you need for a wonderful vacation.
The house to us is 'a home from home' where we can relax, unwind and enjoy fabulous Cape Cod. The house is situated just 100yards from Lewis Bay and Bay View Beach, you can sit on the large porch (South side) and watch the vessels going to and from Hyannis Harbour. This is one of our favourite places to sit and you can watch the world go by while enjoying your breakfast, afternoon tea (English style) or maybe just a refreshing drink .The harbour is just 5 minutes away by car where there are numerous places to eat, shop at craft cabins, access to the ferries to Martha's Vineyard and lots of availability for boat and fishing trips. The main road through the Cape Hyway 28 is at the top of the street, making all the venues and attractions of Cape Cod very accessible.
The South side (larger) has 3 comfortable double bedrooms all very well appointed and decorated, two of them having views of Lewis Bay.
The ground floor has a large sitting/dining room which also has water views. The kitchen has good cooking facilities, a large refridgerator and a breakfast table and benches, There is a large deck leading from the kitchen with table and chairs a good place to enjoy the afternoon sunshine.
We as a family prefer to self cater on vacation as we have more flexibilty as to mealtimes etc but the house gives us that possibility plus the comfort of a real home atmosphere at a very reasonable price compared to hotel tariffs.
Patty and Matt have always maintained the house to a very high standard, partly due to the fact that the house has been in the family for more than 60years and that they like their visitors to have a very pleasant and enjoyable stay in their house. Patty and Matt are friendly, approachable, knowledgable about the Cape which they are only too pleased to pass on to you. This can be invaluable in getting the most out of your stay in beautiful Cape Cod the fact that we travel 3000 miles to do so.
Bay View Cottage is a wonderful place to stay! We stayed in the South side (larger side) in 2010, are returning again this summer, and hope we can make it our “usual” place to stay in what we hope will be regular summer trips to Cape Cod. In summary, the location is perfect. The cottage is wonderfully maintained and makes you feel right at home. And the owners are very friendly and welcoming.
Cottage: both the larger (South Side) portion of the housing facing Lewis Bay, and the smaller (North Side) are fantastic. While the two are connected making up the house structure, you would never know. Both portions of the cottage have their own entrances, decks, etc. The South Side has a very nice kitchen, dining room, family room, and living room on the main floor. The upstairs consists of three nice bedrooms. Two of which, including the master, face Lewis Bay providing a beautiful view and lovely ocean breeze. And the South Side has a great front porch, which we like to enjoy breakfast on while watching the ships come in and out of the bay. Both sides are very clean, well maintained, and provide the charm you would expect of a Cape Cod cottage by the sea.
Location: Bay View Cottage is only blocks off of a main road (Rt 28) and a very short distance from Main Street in downtown Hyannis, yet you’d never know. It feels very remote. It is tucked in very nice and well-kept residential area, just a few hundred feet off of Lewis Bay. A short walk down the street and you are at a quaint and never crowed public beach.
Owners: finally, one of the best things about Bay View Cottage is the friendly owners – Patty & Matt. After booking our trip last year, they made themselves available to answer our questions about Cape Cod and the area, so that we could make the most of our trip. Patty & Matt go out of their way to make you feel at home! If I remember correctly, the cottage has been in their family for some time, which could explain why they take such pride in maintaining it so well.
We visited the Cape for the first time in 2008. We stayed in a nice hotel and had a great trip. When we decided to return in 2010 we thought we’d try a summer cottage rental. We were nervous, of course. But we got lucky. The price of staying in a hotel is not much more or less than having your own “home” for a week. Staying in either the North or South side of the Bay View Cottage will make you feel the same!
