Our Chalet is secluded in the woods but only 10 minutes away to the nearest town. Because of being in the woods we experience wildlife everyday. The other day there were 11 deer watching me stack wood and 3 Turkeys past me by. Last summer an Eagle swooped down and picked up a small fish from our lake. Both times I didn't have my camera but I'm going to start wearing it. If you don't want to use our lake for swimming or boating you can drive 10 minutes to Flathead Lake the largest fresh water lake this side of the Mississippi. Or drive 45 minutes to the entrance of Glacier National Park and drive on Going-to-the-sun highway. (A must to do.) If you like private & peace and quiet you'll love our place. If you want night life 30 minutes away you can find anything in downtown Whitefish. Just ask us what our favorite restaurants are. We have a few. If you decide to bring your furry friend then you'll have a great place to walk.

Beyond anything i had ever dreamed of honeymoon!

My husband and i got married last year in June (2013) and so therefore I was in honeymoon planning mode. I must have scoured through hundreds of listings which took many hours. I knew exactly what we would want. I came aross this listing and i just loved what i saw but the cabin wasn't going to be available for long enough. The Sundburgs went out of their way to accomodate us and to squeeze us in. We had decided to stay at another cabin and then we would move to this one halfway through the week. Boy am i glad i did!!! We liked the first place near Flathead Lake alot but then when we go here, it was like WHOA! We thought it kicked the crap out of the other place! The other place was nice...more like on a prairie...but this place was set in a more "mountain-y" atmosphere. We were blown away by the wrap around deck, the view of the pivate lake and estatic about the hottub which was very clean. The mood lights in the hot tub made for such an incredible ambiance in such a magical place. Every single night and morning deer and turkeys would come through. We were so entertained by the turkeys! You just wont even believe this deck and patio. We even used the john boat once! When we arrived here we both were like, "OK now we're talkin!"

The inside of the chalet was so clean! Everything was SO well stocked. There were even a few condiments, couple eggs and things that were left over in the fridge that we found helpful. The have a binder of information about the house and information on places to go, things to see. They even had a brocure stand which i thought was a great idea. Cindy had a bottle of champagne waiting for us when we arrived. I felt like a queen! The upstairs bed was super comfy and very clean. I was so happy with our stay that i have kept the Sundburgs information in case we ever decide to come back. I really have no complaints. I apologize for the late review but i thought it was well deserved. I have thought about our Montana honeymoon literally everday since we got married 10 months ago. Our stay at this place has embedded itself in a very special place in my heart.

A truly wonderful rental, with beautiful views and wildlife, while conveniently located to many surrounding attractions, including multiple skiing options, lakes, and Glacier National Park.

We spent January here and got a fantastic mix of active fun and stay-home relaxing. It was great watching a group of a dozen turkeys waddle across the frozen lake every evening and then fly up and perch on the tree in front of the main window.

This place exceeded all of our expectations.

Pure Relaxation in Wonderland

From Calgary we drove uninterrupted to Many Lakes Cedar Chalet on Christmas day. I think the theme of this experience was "beyond expectation"; as hard as we tried to keep expecations low, the way this property is advertised on VRBO, we had very high expectations going into the trip. There were four of us in our mid-20's visiting Montana for the first time.
Everything was so immaculately tidy and clean. Dustless surfaces, warm decorations (a Christmas tree full decorated and lit), and cozy atmosphere are what greeted us upon arrival. There were three types of heat in case one failed including a fireplace with abundant supply of wood and kindling. As hot tub enthusiasts we recognized it had been recently refilled and chemically balanced for our enjoyment. The bbq was one of the best I've ever cooked on equipped with all the necessary tools.
Though my partner disagrees with me, I found the mattress/bed on the main floor to be one of the most comfortable beds I've slept on (like Goldilocks, it may depend on your preference).
The main issue that arose was that it would get very hot in our room at night because the electric heat was on and if we turned it off, we would be comfortable but the people upstairs would be cold. I've since spoken with Randy and learned it could have been avoided by turning off the electric heat and turning on the third source in the "great room" which would have kept the people upstairs warm.
Ample supplies like dishes, robes, games, appliances, towels and the like are provided with utmost quality.
We made friends with deer who frequent the property though their friends the grouse were not as welcome.
Neighbours are friendly.
It takes about 15 minutes to drive to the Super 1 grocery on the outskirts of Kalispell where you can get everything you need. Went skiing at Blacktail mountain which is about 40 minutes away and a good run.
There is something of a gospel written by Cindy and Randy that will assist you in any concern imaginable plus unobtrusive sticky notes throughout the premises for friendly reminders.
The only other issues Randy plans on fixing and those are one of the burners on the stove and a new but faulty coffee maker.

For the price, you are getting a palatial gettaway with top-notch customer service. Cannot wait to go back to Cedar Chalet.

Thank you!

First trip to Flathead Lake

There's not enough room her to say how great my experience was with this place. We had problems finding hotels in the area that would allow dogs, but that actually worked out really well for us. My birthday weekend, my wife, daughter, and dog drove from Seattle to Flathead Lake. The morning of our trip, the owners sent me a text just to touch base and make sure we could stay in contact the day of our trip. (I thought that was very nice of them to do that.) Once we got into Montana, the owners told us they'd meet us at the entrance to the winding road back to the chalet so we didn't get lost. Even though we didn't get there until about 7:30pm, Randy was right there at the side of the road waiting for us. We followed him to the chalet, he showed us around, showed us how everything worked.

We woke up the next morning to 4 - 6 inches. The views of the lake from inside the house were spectacular. I peeked outside the window toward the snow-covered hot tub just in time to see a couple of deer walking toward the lake. It really was something out of a storybook.

As for the house itself, the outside is immaculate. There's an outdoor dog kennel, so if you visit when it's not too cold and need to leave your dogs outside, that's an option. The house has a two car garage. If you choose to enter the house from the garage (as we did), remove your shoes and enjoy the heated laundry room floor :) From the laundry room, you walk through a spare bedroom, into the kitchen. The thing I liked the most about the kitchen was the appliances look like they're from the 70's, but everything you need is there (including a microwave, coffee maker, electric can opener, etc.). I think it's cool that the appliances have the 70's knobs you turn. The refrigerator is updated, but basic and SUPER clean. I liked the automated battery operated candles everywhere too. They turned on around 6 and automatically turned off around midnight - perfect.

The kitchen faces the huge windows that overlook the lake. In the living room, there's a large flatscreen TV with DVD player and a wood burning fireplace that really made the place comfortable. The loft overlooks everything. In the loft is another large flatscreen TV and DVD player, as well as a HUGE bed (California King maybe?), a bathroom & shower, and a small deck that faces the road.

We will definitely be back and try to stay longer next time. I HIGHLY recommend this place. 5 stars!!

We loved our stay at this beautiful home. The roaring fire and spotlessly clean hot tub (where you can see deer and wild turkeys!) totally made up for the rainy weather. Randy met us to show us the way to the house and gave us lots of helpful info to help make the most of our stay. We had 6 adults, 1 baby and a dog there and there was still enough room for all. We will definitely be back to use that rowboat and the fishing rods in summer! Recommend an outing to Tamarack Brewing for a meal and to taste their amazing beers too.
