Overview

Charlotte House Rental Photos and Description

House, 2 Bedrooms + Convertible bed(s), 2.5 Baths, (Sleeps up to 6)

When you walk into this contemporary house of 2200 square feet, you are immediately drawn to the oversized greatroom. The entire back of the house is glass resulting in a panoramic view of the lake and equally as important, beautiful sunsets! Not only can you enjoy the views of the lake from the greatroom, you also have the same views from the master bedroom and the dining room/kitchen. The house is a beautifully furnished two bedroom house with a queen bed in each room (roll-away(s) available). Off the master bedroom, there is a bathroom which has a separate shower and garden tub. Likewise, the second bathroom has it own bath which consists of a 5-foot shower. A stack washer and dryer is located in this area as well. A 1/2 bath is available off of the greatroom. Like to have a fire in the winter. A wood-burning stove is in the greatroom (uses fire logs). Directly behind the fireplace is the dining room with sitting for six persons. The dining room attaches to a kitchen which has all the amenities of home: a smooth-top stove, a dishwasher, a built-in microwave, and a full-size refrigerator.

Outside amenites include: a floating dock (where you can tie up your boat during your visit), a covered gazebo, floation for enjoying the water, a deck which surrounds the house on three sides, furniture for the deck, a picnic table and a gas grill outside the dining area, an oversized two-car garage, extra covered parking attached to the garage (parking for one-car), fishing poles, bicycles (2), a concreted driveway to the house as well as the parking area, a covered carport as you enter the lot for additional parking or for parking your boat (most boats fit). Also available for your enjoyment is a 16 foot canoe.

When entering the house from the road-side, you do not have any steps into the house. From the water-side of the house, when going down to the water, you do go down down a minimum number of steps to get to the water. You can go down the side of the house to get to the water with no steps. This house has a 1600 square foot basement which is not rented or occupied.

When you visit, you will feel as though you are in a 5-star hotel, only better, in that you have all the amenities of a home that a hotel can't offer. Another amenity is the location--To get to the home, you go down a 2 1/2 mile paved road which winds through the middle of 1300 acres of preserved forest. Wildlife is abundant in that their natural habitat has been preserved and it is not unusual to see the deer grazing by the road. Trails are available for you to walk or ride your bikes and observe the wildlife or just to enjoy the quietness of nature. Desire retail? You are within ten minutes from retail which includes Target, Home Depot, restaurants, Marshals, Bi-Lo, Harris Teeter, etc. Because Interstates 77, 85, 485 are near the home, you are able to get to uptown Charlotte within 20-25 minutes and to other locations around the city or surrounding cities such as Rock Hill, Gastonia, York, etc.

About Martha Edwards

I am a retired school teacher/administrator of 30 years of the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools. Likewise, my husband, Randy, was a civil service employee and was also in the military for over 42 years. Currently we are both retired (in name only!). Randy has a boat repair business and my business consists of making sure all my guests enjoy their visit on Lake Wylie.

Martha Edwards purchased this house in 1984

Why Martha Edwards chose Charlotte

Randy and I lived in this house right after we got married and a number of years thereafter. We then built another house on five acres up the lake and moved there (truth be known-my husband wanted land on which to drive his tractor!). After having several full-time renters in the house, I decided to put the house up for vacation rental since I had enjoy renting 'Griff's Place' (#142984) through VRBO, I had a gentleman who rented the house who eventually stayed 2 1/2 years when his job placed him in Charlotte. He had come on a temporary basis and decided he liked the home. Recently he got re-located and the house was open again. I decided once again to rent the house via VRBO. Why? All the years I have been renting through 'vacation rental,' I have met such wonderful people from all over the world.

It also brings me pleasure to know my home helped to make good memories for their family.

Will Randy and I ever move back to this home? I do hope to do so in the future. No matter where I have lived, this home remains 'my favorite place of all.' I hope you will think so at the end of your stay.

Welcome to our home.

Martha and Randy Edwards

Over the Top

  • 5 of 5

Just spent a week at this most wonderful house on Lake Wylie. I have stayed in my share of vacation rentals but the hosts, Randy and Martha went above and beyond in regards to making our stay perfect, down to purchasing an air bed to accommodate our niece and her fiance at the last minute for a couple of nights. The house was better equipped (games, canoe, kitchen amenities, shampoo, linen, paper towels, spices, bicycles, etc., etc.) than anyplace I have ever stayed. I had my 90 yr old parents with me and the open floor plan made it very easy for them to get around. With just one step in from the garage, getting them in and out was a breeze. There was nearby areas to bike and walk on trails. My mother enjoyed sitting on the deck, watching the birds and turtles float by. Martha also supplied an exhaustive listing of things to do and enjoy in the area. We took a day trip to Seagrove to visit the many potteries there which was amazing and a great way to learn about the history of the area. Our only regret is that we couldn't stay longer. You won't find a better place than this one.......

Beautiful House. View, and Landlords

  • 5 of 5

The house and the view of the lake was outstanding. House was absolutely, totally furnished with everything you need except your food. The view to Lake Wylie was fantastic. Definitely suggest you bring your boat, if possible. Even though, it was rather isolated, I would highly recommend it for a vacation stay.

The landlords were down home type folks and were available for any areas of concern at a moment's notice and were eager to make your stay as pleasant as it could be.

Owner's Response: Thank you so much for you kind words. Thank you so much for your kind words. Yes, when you drive down the road to the house, you travel on a paved road through 2 1/2 miles of woods, It is not unusual to see deer grazing by the road or wild turkeys taking a walk. . . . .but if you want to go shopping, you are 10 minutes from a shopping center where you can shop at Target, Marshals, Pier One, Gander Mountain, Home Depot, restaurants, etc. along with a grocery store. Like outlet shopping? Twelve minutes down the road, you can shop at the "Premium Outlets Shopping Center." If you love nature (whether observing or walking/riding bicycles on trails which are a part of an exclusive neighborhood consisting of 1300 acres) but also like to shop and go to attractions such as Carowinds, this is the house for you. Even better, it is a very nice house yet comfortable for your enjoyment. Again, thank you for your visit.

Beautiful waterfront with spectacular views!!!

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at Martha & Randy's beautiful home. It was very comfortable and there wasn't anything Martha didn't put in the house to make our stay perfect! All we had to get were everyday groceries. Sitting on the deck (did I say it engulfed three sides of the house?) in the morning with coffee and hearing the water lap up against the shore was heavenly. We enjoyed the opportunity to sit on the dock and watch the boats go by. The weather wasn't too cooperative the week we were here but we had a great time anyway. Many things were close enough to take day trips. One week just wasn't enough in this lakefront home! Martha & Randy are excellent hosts, are very friendly and down to earth. We left here feeling we made a couple of new friends and look forward to returning to see them again. Thanks Martha & Randy for sharing your beautiful home with us.

Beautiful home

  • 5 of 5

Everything was so incredible, the view(right on the lake), the deck(for early evening get togethers), the dock (for fishing) and the house in general. Everything was supplied for us even down to the toothpaste. The only thing we did not see was laundry detergent but I think it was out. We took walks down the sidewalk (beautiful area) and it was close to area locales. We did try out T-Bones on the Lake and it was truly a delicious meal. Every table has a water view but, then again, we did sitting at the kitchen table, too. We really enjoyed our stay there. Randy and Martha are very caring and

hospitable and easy to get along with.

Owner's Response: Thank you so much for your kind words. I am glad you enjoyed your stay. It was a pleasure meeting the four of you and I am glad you have pleasant memories of your stay. In providing amenities, I try to picture myself visiting the house, maybe coming in late at night. What would I need until I get to the grocery store? I have been known to forget my toothbrush and try to get toothpaste through airport security! So I try to have extras, especially toiletries, in case you forget something and can't get to the grocery store. I do provide a number of kitchen/bathroom products such as shampoo/conditioner, toilet paper, soap, paper towels, napkins, coffee, spices, etc. but the one item I do not provide is laundry detergent. Otherwise, I have just about anything you may need for your stay (see my amenities list). Again I thank you for visiting. My goal is always to make my guests' stay as enjoyable as possible. I look forward to seeing your family (sisters and spouses) in the future. Take care of yourselves. Martha
