Photos and Description of the Frankfort vacation cabin rental
Cabin, 3 Bedrooms + Sleeping Porch, 1 Bath, (Sleeps 6-8)

Closed for winter, open again April 2013. 60' of private frontage on sandy bottom Lower Herring Lake, sandy beach, gradual drop-off, private dock. New carpeting, furniture, refinished interior walls, fireplace glass doors.

We also have a house on the water 3 doors north, vrbo 370427 that sleeps 8-10. House comes with access by boat or car (parking pass) to miles of beautiful, private beach on Lake Michigan (see photos). This is pristine, undeveloped beach, which Jerry Dennis said in the June 2006 Traverse Magazine article, 'The Greatest Walkabout', 'It is surely one of the most pristine beaches in the world, broad and clean, with elaborate back dunes blending into forests'...saved from development by the Noble family. Half of the lakeshore on Lower Herring Lake is in a privately held protective easement, which means there is very little boat traffic and your view of the sunset is over pristine forest.

We are 1/4 mile from the paved road through the woods, very quiet and peaceful. Deer and wildlife sightings are frequent. Large grass lawn on the lake is perfect for games, BBQs, fires etc. Satellite TV and all linens provided except beach towels provided. Many other rentals are bring your own linens.

Watch postcard perfect sunsets over either lake. We are 6 miles south of Frankfort, MI, 5 miles north of Arcadia. Rails to trails bike paths close by, or pedal around Upper Herring Lake through the orchards. Canoe and rowboat included. Second lake front house also available, 3 doors down that sleeps 8-10, VRBO #370427.

What makes this cabin unique

Access to miles of private Lake Michigan beach (otherwise posted), which is owned by the Noble family through the Watervale Inn. Even during peak summer season on Lake Michigan, as far as you can see in both directions, there are few people.

Rails to trails bike paths 10 min away in Elberta. Miles of private Lake Michigan beach is accessable via canoe, 10 min, or car, 2 min. Lake Michigan is ideal for kiteboarding, body surfing, sunsets, and stand up paddleboarding. The house is on Lower Herring Lake looking west towards the sunsets over preserved forests and dunes. There is very little boat traffic even during peak season. Crystal Mountain Ski and Golf Resort, 20 min away. I'll email a detailed list of hikes, bike trails, restaurants, libraries, theaters, historical museums, fishing spots etc.

We picked this location because of it's location. We have spent four years in a row at Lower Herring lake .
Why ? The beauty - Clean water - No homes on half of the lake - Access to Lake Michigan - The fishing -
Eagles - Deer - Hiking trails - Kayaking - Swimming - Camp fires - Sunsets - Low boat traffic .

This rental is a quaint cottage , rustic , comfortable beds, fantastic window views of the lake.
Recommended for:  Age 55+, Adventure Seekers, Girls Getaway, Sightseeing, Families with Teenagers, Families with Young Children, People with Disabilities, Romantic Getaway
